Mating season. The time when a young man’s heart turns to creating a permanent bond with the one he loves. At least, in theory. But Adam seems to have no interest in mating with Cullen, though they’ve been together for years. Cullen can’t even take comfort in sure knowledge of Adam’s feelings for him as Adam has yet to say the words “I love you.”
Adam’s parents screwed up when they mated. The bond forged by the mating bite, supposed to be a way for mates to share their love and devotion, became a conduit for their hatred and bitterness. He won’t do that to someone he loves, or to himself. Cullen seems to understand, which is one of the things Adam loves about the man.
But Cullen doesn’t understand, and Adam’s forced to decide if he’s strong enough to face his fears for the man he loves.
This little shorty highlights the relationship between Cullen and Adam, Declan's two beta wolves from the first story, Called to Mate.
Cullen and Adam have been together for 6 long years, but have never officially mated. They have a fabulous and loving relationship, which includes a healthy and passionate sex life, but they have yet to make their mating bond official in the eyes of the pack.
The story follows Cullen as he struggles to deny his need to be mated to the man he loves. Unfortunately, Adam has a lot of hang-ups on the issue and is hesitant to make an honest wolf out of Cullen in any official capacity, in fear that something will happen and he'll lose Cullen completely. As it stands, Adam is happy in their relationship and doesn't see the need for change. But Adam is beginning to realise that if he doesn't make the big commitment that Cullen so desperately needs from him, then he may just lose Cullen anyway.
This story had my 'feels cavity' full to bursting during this tiny little story. I really felt for Cullen and his need to have it all with Adam and his fear of losing it all if he only asked for what he wanted. I even understood Adam and his trepidation regarding the intense life-long commitment of mating. But ultimately, these two were head-over-heels in love with one another and their willingness to do whatever it takes to make the other happy was all consuming.
I really liked this shorty about the two beta wolves, Cullen and Adam. Right up until the point their mating had to be consummated while the entire pack witnesses.
Deliciously sweet angst goodness. It's an odd thing that they mate in front of the pack but it's also cool that it isn't made out to be some exotic erotic thing for a PWP book. Okay so this is PWP but the ritual feels like a ritual of a different culture not just there for titillation. It was sweet and romantic and a little funny. The people watching weren't even mentioned during the act.
This book works for me because of how much history is evident between Cullen and Adam. This is the culmination of their story. The bond is already clear between these two, and was in the first book. Finally here we get to see it realize.
Cullen and Adam have been together for 6 years, there's so much history that goes into that. But Adam's fears of being truly bonded and allowing the mate bond to take hold have stretched Cullen to the limit. I really felt for Cullen and how no matter how much he loved Adam, not being able to have that final commitment and bond was killing him.
This didn't need to be a long story, this was all about the pivotal moment between these two and it was hot and sweet, everything it should be.
Short, sweet, and straight to a very hard point. ;) Cullen needs to know Adam is in it for the long haul and Adam is scared of being trapped in a loveless bond. Honest communication and good friends bring around their happily ever after. It doesn't hurt that there is a lot of hot love throughout.
There's no real evolution on the plot, there's a question, one page of drama, sexual intercourse as needed and fin. The characters are not worked on, the background stories are not developed whatsoever and it leaves you a sense of waste, like you wasted your time and maybe your money too. Definitely not reading this one again, ever. I might even get rid of it.
I was hoping for a story for Adam and Cullen, and I got one this is a really good book . The only part I did not like, is the sex outside in front of everybody I just think that's something that should be private.
I got this ebook for free from Kindle Store. I was not familiar with the back story (and got book 1 only after finishing this one) but it was okay and didn't really prevent me. It was not spectacular but it was a fun read. (After reading Book 1, I realized that Adam and Cullen are barely there and this story does a better job at getting portraying their characters, although it is still not enough.)
...I just don't understand why Cullen, as a dominant wolf, would turn into such a whiny diva, why he just couldn't talk to Adam. I don't understand why, after six years together as a couple and growing up together as packmates Adam had no clue about Cullen's feelings. And Adam's sudden 180 even with the ultimatum? That's just a little hard for me to accept. Forgetting everything I know about Adam and Cullen from the previous book, good read.
Finally Adam and Cullen fully mate. It took Cullen telling Adam he could not keep living this way. After Adam talked to Quinn, he admitted he could not loose Cullen because of his fears. So he and Cullen talked and completed the mating. I can not wait for the next book. Erin
I really loved reading this book it was really good
I really enjoyed reading this book it was really good. I love the relationship between Cullen and Adam. This was a beautiful book to read. I love the twists and turns in this book. I love how the author writes. I will recommend this book to all my friends and everyone I know.
This was a free book and was a short story. It was an ok read, short and sweet. Basic story of fear of commitment over loss of loved one for ever. Characters were interesting and the story was an easy read. Didn't leave me thinking WoW, where is the next one but I enjoyed it.
I liked this one and ah, well, there is a book I should have read before to find out more about the characters. They are in love (even if they won't admit it) and live together, but that is not enough for one of them. How he gets his partner to commit you have to read for yourself. ;)
A decent short-story that fans of the author's Pack Mates series will appreciate, highlighting how the tension between the betas, two bed-buddies where one desperately wants to be more and the other doesn't.
After six years Adam still afraid to mate with Cullen due to his parents screwed up mating. But Cullen has had enough of waiting and gives Adam an ultimate. Well written and enjoyable to read.
Ohhhh I likey. That was a sweet romance and Quinn blossomed under the care if his mate.. He became strong from being loved and even though he thought himself weak still aimed to protect those he held dear.. It made you heart sad they way his old pack abused him but he was a fighter!! Great read
A very short insight into Adam and Cullen's relationship. Cullen deciding Adam must not love him enough to mate him. Adam with fears all relationships have the potential to be disasters like his parent's.
I love this series by Lynn Tyler. It's one of my favorites. This novella is sweet and a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride. If you haven't tried this series yet, I recommend it!
Adam is letting his fear hold him back from expressing his love. Cullen is getting fed up. But when confronted with his worst fears Adam is ready to make a decision once and for all.
