Hell's Half-Acre: A Monster Girl Western
Gray Dunn was running from his job as a repo man and now something under the town is trying to repossess him.
He'd only took the sheriff's job off a truck-stop corkboard because the ad said "housing provided." But then Gray signed the contract without reading it, which was the stupidest thing he'd ever done (and this is a man who once repossessed an above-ground pool).
Pleasant Bottom's built around a hellhole in the ground called the Sump and it's a hungry one. Unfortunately, the town's behind on its tribute and a supernatural collector will be coming Thursday. Which makes this not a great moment to become the new sheriff.
His deputy, Mira, has bagged up the last six dead sheriffs and dug the graves herself. And the diner owner, Mercy, still has a terrible scar from where the last collector took its cut. And, out at the strip mall, Renée's been sitting on the Sump's lid since 1963, when the town last paid her in casserole.
There's six pegs on the office wall. Five of them have coats on.

I made it to page 9 before I decided the MC was the kind of dumb I don't want to read about, much less see get a harem for his dumbness.
In those 9 pages, he is running from his financial failures as a repo-man, and takes a job to be town sheriff without reading the contract he's about to sign. He finds out about the job because there's a flyer in the town diner, indicating that no experience is needed, no background check will be done, but he gets a place to live. And as soon as he pins the sheriff's badge on, he gets a system window telling him what he needs to do.
The worst part is, he knows he's a bonehead for agreeing to do it, but he does it anyways. And I'm done with really dumb MC's.

A interesting read
I enjoyed this book greatly. My wife past 5 weeks ago today.I think she would have enjoyed it. I liked the characters and the boss was a riot.I have had three cars reposed. The town is in my mind and I look forward to reading the next book.thank you for your hard work. It was enjoyable

A crazy fun beginning!
A crazy fun bunch of characters in a very unique kind of story!! I really enjoyed it after I figured it out and can't wait for more!!
