I don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.

First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.

I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.

Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and two dogs. Our kids are off to college and law school, which means my nest is empty! I spend my time writing, working with the kids at my church, enjoying my husband's gourmet cooking, and hanging with my many writer friends. Of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Believe.

xoxo
Rocki

To be honest, this has to be one of the best prequels I've ever read.

I had read the first book or two of the Guardian Angelinos series, and that was about 5 years ago. But reading Barefoot Bound was like… like a visit with close friends and family, but more. This story sets up the spin-off series, Barefoot Bay Undercover and does so brilliantly! There’s certainly a promising story-base here, and I’m so excited to read more about Gabe, his ‘secret’, and to spend time with he and Nino as they set up Gabe’s new business!

This is book 4 in my Goodreads Challenge of reading 50 Kindle Freebie books in 2016. All books read for this challenge were free at the time of 'purchase.'

Books I've read, so far:

1. Some Kind of Wonderful
2. Duty Bound
3. Neanderthal Seeks Human
4. Barefoot Bound

Excellent set up for this series. As I've not read the Guardian Angelinos series (yet), I knew nothing about them or Gabe Rossi. Not only did I get a thorough introduction of the family, I also had my appetite deliciously whetted for what comes next with Gabe and his new business. And Nino! He's fantastic and I can't wait to see more of him.

I love that suspense is joining romance in this series and am excited to begin. The next story couldn't be more intriguing.

What an enchanting novella! The banter between the family members really sets the tone for everything. I found the grandfather to be absolutely priceless. The way that he brought the entire family together really warmed my heart. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to imagine myself as part of this group.

But St. Claire didn’t stop there. Suspense and intrigue ruled as events unfold. She paints a picture that had me on the edge of my seat, creating intensity through actions and reactions. Her vivid descriptions brought Boston to life as vividly as they did a Florida beach.

This novella sets readers up well to dive into Gabe’s new venture in the first full length novel in the series, while also leaving some mystery and suspense to be unfolded at a later date. It gives readers who are new to St Claire’s work a fantastic starting point, while also tying this new series in with characters that we’ve already come to know and love.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Barefoot Bound by Roxanne St. Claire is a 2015 publication.

This novella launches the beginning of a new Barefoot series featuring Gabe Rossi. Some will know Gabe from another series, but even if you don't this is a great way to get introduced to him and his family.
Gabe is from Boston, but is about to settle down in Florida to begin an intriguing new business venture. He has found the location, now he needs some help, so he turns to his family hoping they offer their support and help.
But, upon arriving in Boston, Gabe is faced with some heartbreaking news about a close family member.

Despite it's brevity, this short story gives us plenty of insight into the new series and I am so excited! I can't wait for the full length novel all about Gabe and the woman that is the driving force behind this new venture.

This novella was provided to me via the author's subscriber newsletter.

I loved getting to know Gabe and his awesome family in the prequel to the much anticipated Barefoot Bay Undercover series. There was so much to love in this novella:

*Gabe's sarcasm
*Gabe's entire family (I have not read The Guardian Angelinos series, but sure want to now)
*Gabe's Grandpa Nino (there was so much to love with their relationship and I can't wait for more of these two)
*Ninoisms (he gets EVERYTHING wrong. E.g., instead of throw in the towel, Nino throws in the rag)

All these things and many more lead to laugh out loud moments and a strong desire to read the Barefoot Bay Undercover series and spend more time with Gabe!

"Barefoot Bound" by Roxanne St. Claire is a novella and short story for her upcoming story "Barefoot Bodyguard." It's a continuation of her series 'Barefoot Bay' and she is taking it to another level. If you haven't read any of her other books you should. It is a stand alone read or you can read the series. The author does a great job in giving the reader just enough information about the other characters involved who have their own stories.

We meet Gabriel Rossi retired agent. Who works for his families business in Boston. He came to Barefoot Bay to start up a business of his own. Providing a safe house for those who don't qualify for a new identity but need help hiding from danger. We meet Gabe's family and learn about his Grandfather Nino.

Such an amazing teaser in what is to come with Roxanne's next book in this series.

Gabriel Rossi wants to break out on his own and establish a business to provide protection for those who do not qualify for witness protection. After returning to resign and break the news to his family, his cousin suspects that his grandfather, Nino has cancer.

It was great to read the prequel to Barefoot with a Bodyguard! I loved finding out the reason why Nino joined Gabe in Barefoot Bay. I loved having another short read that I didn’t need to focus too hard on. It is clear that this bridges The Guardian Angelinos series with the Barefoot Bay Undercover series.

There were a few inconsistencies when it came to exactly how Gabriel and his family were all related. I ended up being quite confused at this.

My recommendation: perfect for a quick read that you don’t have to think too hard about.

An amazing Prequel to a new set of Barefoot book for Roxanne St Claire. There are some old favorite characters for loyal readers to her other Barefoot books and her Guardian Angelino series. You might even see a Bulletcatcher in there. In any case a fast 100 pages packed with alot of exciting possibilities for the three full books to come. Note this prequel was only provided to newletter recipients of Roxanne St Claire and cannot be found at retailers.

Intriguing Introduction

Gabe Rossi is looking for the perfect, out of the way place to form a new company. Barefoot Bay is the choice spot for seclusion and beautiful scenery. Plus his friend Luke McBain is looking for a partner for his security startup business. The decision is made!

"Barefoot Bound" - The "Barefoot Bay Undercover" Series Prequel

Author - Roxanne St. Claire

Talk about the perfect combination, the best of both worlds, having your cake and eating it too! That's what you get when you sink into this exciting new series! The Prequel "Barefoot Bound" is an introduction of the highly anticipated "Barefoot Bay Undercover" Series launching with some of the most beloved characters from St. Claire's previous Romantic Suspense series, The "Guardian Angelino's", told from Gabe Rossi's POV. It also includes one of the characters we've come to love in the Contemporary Romance series "Barefoot Bay" with plenty of old and new characters coming in the trilogy!

Why is it the best of both worlds? Because you have one the very best, NY Times and USA Today, RITA Award-winning authors of both Contemporary Romance and Romantic Suspense blending her masterful, suspense-pounding writing skills with the fun, upbeat, heartfelt, often times hilarious, plot-driven, character-rich, steamy, romantic scenes! A match made in Heaven or in this case.... Barefoot Bay on Mimosa Key at the Casa Blanca Resort & Spa! It just doesn't get any better when you include the long awaited, highly anticipated, sexy bad boy Gabriel Rossi and his forever meddling, but always loving & adorable grandfather, who cooks like a dream and is affectionately known as "Uncle Nino", and of course, their very large Italian family to make you laugh, cry, and flip through this fast read from beginning to end in one furious sitting.

St. Claire takes you on yet another of her fabulous suspense-wielding story lines while seamlessly mixing together elements of familial love, loads of laughter, and anticipation for what's to come all while laying the solid foundation for Gabe's new covert business venture with the new head of security for Casa Blanca, Luke McBain, the hero of "Barefoot in Pearls"! I can't wait to read what she's crafted for the next three novels in this series!! The story is an absolute stand-alone as a lead-in to the new Barefoot Bay Undercover series and Gabe will be getting his own full-length story later in this series!! Already the "suspense" is killing me :D

A superb introduction for the first of three stand-alone novels in the trilogy - "Barefoot with a Bodyguard" is due out in - June 2015! "Barefoot with a Stranger" - projected release date September 2015 and "Barefoot with a Bad Boy" - projected release date of December 2015! Visit Roxanne's website (www.roxannestclaire.com) to sign up for her newsletter and relieve your FREE e-copy of this prequel "Barefoot Bound" or find her on Facebook for more information on this exciting new series! Roxanne St. Claire has released this novella to introduce fans to the Guardian Angelinos series and most specifically Gabe Rossi and his family. I will admit I have never read her Guardian Angelinos series but that is ok. In typical Roxanne stories, she gives you enough background that it is not necessary.

Gabe is in the security/investigation business with his siblings and cousins but he is getting antsy. He wants to break out on his own for a job that will take him to Barefoot Bay and has found the perfect job as his cover. Gabe meets up with his old friend Luke McBain, who happens to live in Barefoot Bay now and is head of security at Bay Laurel. Gabe and Luke agree to work together.

Gabe's grandfather, Nino is a hoot! These two together just make the story perfect! Their banter is hysterical! Nino is also getting antsy because all of his grandkids are grown and he feels unneeded. Loved the mystery regarding Nino.

I also just adored Poppy, a maid at Bay Laurel. Loved how she put Gabe in his place and all the names that Gabe calls her in return! Loved how Poppy has a swear jar for her Jamaican Children's Fund...too funny.

Gabe convinces Nino to join him in Barefoot Bay and he finally agrees. I can't wait to see the trouble these two get into. I can't wait to see Nino and Poppy together too! I have a feeling things are going to be getting really funny!

Overall a fun, easy read that makes me want Barefoot with a Bodyguard NOW!!!! It also makes me want to go back and read Roxanne's Guardian Angelinos series too.

Gabe Rossi is back! Our gorgeous, blue-eyed spook with the potty mouth not only gets his book, but a whole series has been created around him and his new “venture.” As an avid Roxanne St. Clair fan, I have devoured all the Bullet Catchers and Guardian Angelinos books, not to mention her stand alone titles. And I eagerly jumped in with both eyes when she transported us readers down to Barefoot Bay. I loved the romance, but I always wondered what ever became of Gabe…..

Well, he is down in Barefoot Bay, settling in with a semi-mysterious new business. This novella is laying the groundwork for 3 full-length books, one of which will be Gabe’s book. Told totally from Gabe’s point of view, which was a change from Ms. St. Clair’s usual style, you see how the stage is set for the trilogy. The Angelinos/Rossi gang is all there. And Nino…..I truly love that man (I am calling dibs, ladies!) I highly recommend reading this novella, then picking up Barefoot with a Bodyguard. You will not be disappointed!

"Barefoot Bound," is a novella to introduce you to the upcoming story of "Barefoot Bodyguard." This the continuation of her series 'Barefoot Bay', that Roxanne St Claire is taking it to a whole new level. If you haven't read any of her other books than, I would say that you are missing out on some great stories. You will fall in love with her characters, because she let you in to their lives as if you are part of the story.

This novella, will give you some insight that is surrounding Gabe’s and the relationship that he has with his family, and his journey and were his root are. Gabe Rossi (yes, that Gabe Rossi, the legendary bad boy of The Guardian Angelino series), Gabe is from Boston, but is looking to settle down in Florida to start a new business venture that is very intriguing. There just one problem he needs some help, so who can he turns to but his family in hopes they will offer their support.

Love the fact that Roxanne, gives you a glimpses of how, and why these things take place. So that you know just were it all begin?

Barefoot Bound (prequel) was only provided to newsletter recipients of Roxanne St Claire and cannot be purchased through retail stores.

Barefoot Bound is a great in-between novella surrounding Gabe's relationship with his family and the journey of his roots. I loved getting to see Gabe and having more interaction with familiar faces. These kind of books are always my favorite because we don't just get a good story (which we do) we get to see whats happening to our favorites living their every day lives.
So many times you get that feeling when you're a fan of this series or that series or this book and or character and once you finish that book and you loved it so much you are left with that feeling of what is that character doing now? What would they be up to? What happens to them once the story is done? These in between installments fill that gap and answer that question. They also give you glimpses of what takes place before the real story begins.

Thanks Roxanne!
