Tampa homicide lieutenant Carl Kane was looking forward to his vacation—a break from psychopathic serial killers, dead bodies, and the daily grind.

At least, that was the plan...

When bullets rip through his sister's house and interrupt his morning coffee, Kane's vacation comes to an abrupt end.

Without his team, and fifteen hundred miles out of his jurisdiction, Kane faces his toughest challenge yet. He must ensure the safety of his family, find his missing father and stepmother, and figure out who the men are that are hell-bent on killing him.

If only things were that simple...

Ho hum, the same bad guy from the last book is the bad guy in this one too and the ending sucks. I despise books with people that cannot die.

Pretty good, but too far fetched in my opinion. Too much gun slinging and lawlessness in the prisons. Additionally, the family is scared but doesn't get hurt too much, and it just so happens that the father only gets wounded. Still, I liked the story.

Who is the baddest dog in the fight?

Finished #4 in this series and these books get better and better! Lot more action in this one and Kane had to be watching over his family members as he killed the killers! The assassin's were disposed of and Calli and Kane are on the way back to Tampa. The next book will be exciting too. Russians have not learned their lesson.

Gripping read, although this book lacked a little compared to previous novels. Still an excellent page turner with a nice surprise at the end!

This book is a clear example of how evil will work its way into the justice system and prisons as perpetrators can find those that will take money for doing wrong. Lt. Kane and his family is being shot at while trying to take a vacation, his dad and step-mom have been kidnapped and there's hardly a way for him to get out of the serious situation. This was a good story, but the ending left me unfulfilled as there's another book in the works.

Very good book

The author gets better with each book. This book had action on top of action. A normal person wouldn’t be able to live through everything that happens in this book. Read it, but it is best to read them in order. The characters are good and even the bad guys are written well.

Excellent reading

Lt. Kane is a seasoned homicide cop in Tampa, Fl, that is on vacation. So how does he get himself, Callie, and his entire family in the center of a gunman's sights? An exciting, fast-paced book with plenty of twists and an ending that was unexpected.

I invested in these familiar characters, and wasn't disappointed. Pulse pounding action, with a single minded enemy , out for revenge. Luckily Carl is smart and well trained. Great story and easy to follow . Next please!

Revenge

I recommend book to those wanting fast moving thriller about a criminal's revenge. Good usage of support characters to keep suspense moving to ending. A lot more dialogue than narrative moves reader along. Enjoyed it.

Good

A fast moving page turner .Exciting story line yet it is believable. I wish the author would stop"scooping " and use some other vernacular. Worth reading if you like action thrillers.

all action

This is more direct then the first few in this series. Kane is under direct attack! I wonder how he will do?! Hahaha. Good adversary. Decent action. No real suspense or surprises but a good quick low stress pleasant book.

These characters will sustain you through a !lengthy series. Love the water the back story gradually evolved in the series instead of the usual history lesson.

An interesting story - not the standard "cop gets the bad guy", in this one the cop is the "huntee" and I won't tell you how the hunter makes out.
