She came to drop off her ex's things. She expected an empty apartment.

Garrett Birmingham answered the door. Silver-templed, mid-forties, an architect with a stillness that makes every room feel designed around him — and a look on his face like he's been expecting her for a while and has a lot of thoughts about the timing.

Meadow Washington has not been thinking about Dylan's father. She's been doing this successfully, once a week, for two years. She's very good at it.

Garrett has not been doing the same.

He remembers the first family dinner where he asked her a question and actually listened to the answer. He remembers the exact moment she stopped looking at Dylan like he was enough. He's held his opinion about all of it for two years.

The opinion no longer needs holding.

What she doesn't expect is a man twenty-two years older who has never once had to guess what a woman needs — who tells her exactly what to do in that low, certain voice and means every single word of it. He's twice her size and twice her age, and he takes his time. Turns out the thing she'd been missing all along had a name. She just had to be brave enough to say it out loud.

A steamy age-gap romance: her ex's father, a silver-fox architect hero, a twenty-two-year gap, full Daddy kink, size difference, a "will it fit" that takes its time, breeding, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Gentle Giants Book 8 — fully standalone, no cliffhanger.

A Silver‑Fox Architect Who Finally Says What He’s Been Holding Back

Big Ask is one of those forbidden age‑gap romances that works because the emotional tension is already baked in. Meadow walking into Garrett’s apartment expecting an empty space—and finding him instead—sets the tone perfectly. I loved how the story leans into Garrett’s stillness and certainty; he’s the kind of hero who has been paying attention far longer than anyone realized, and that quiet awareness makes their connection feel earned rather than sudden.

Meadow’s weekly ritual of dropping off her ex’s things gives her a sense of control, and watching that routine unravel the moment Garrett opens the door is one of the best parts. Their dynamic has a grown‑up steadiness beneath the heat: she’s trying to move on, he’s been waiting for her to see what he’s known for two years. The age gap is handled with confidence, and Garrett’s calm, deliberate presence makes the romance feel grounded instead of chaotic.

If anything, I would’ve liked a touch more time with Meadow processing the shift from “my ex’s father” to “the man who actually sees me,” but the novella keeps its pace tight and delivers a satisfying emotional payoff.

Overall, Big Ask is a bold, addictive instalove with a silver‑fox hero who doesn’t waste words and a heroine who finally realizes she’s been choosing the wrong man all along. It’s steamy, confident, and a strong addition to the Gentle Giants series.

Meadow and Garrett . . .

Meadow Washington has been standing outside her ex-boyfriend Dylan's apartment door for 4 minutes now, waiting for the door to open so she can drop off his heavy box of "stuff" he left behind. He said she would be met here and she could walk away from their wasted 2 years. Instead of the super meeting her, Dylan's father Garrett Birmingham opened the door. He has always looked at her as if she has his complete attention even if she hasn't said anything, then he invites her in. He tells her to sit down and offers her a meal, somehow knowing she only ate a half granola bar on the way over. He remembers the first dinner the family had with her. He not only asked her a question, but listened to her answer like it mattered, which had been a new experience for her. Dylan never had done that. Garrett also noticed the moment when she stopped looking at Dylan as if he was what she needed in her life. Now that they have broken up, is Garrett ready to make his own move to claim the woman he has been waiting for?

I would like to say that she finally got the right man, and maybe she did. But a man who tells me what to do, absolutely meaning it to be "obeyed", would not ever see me again as I hurry out to the car and drive away! That "Daddy" stuff is not for me!

What a fun, swoony treat! Big Ask has exactly the kind of confident, sparkling energy that makes a romance feel impossible to put down. From the very first setup, Piper Kane gives readers a deliciously dramatic premise, then balances it with warmth, wit, and a heroine whose courage makes you want to cheer.

I especially loved the way the author writes atmosphere. Garrett feels carefully drawn without ever needing too much explanation, and Meadow’s journey has a playful spark that keeps the pages moving. The writing is smooth, vivid, and full of those little character details that make a story feel alive.

Piper Kane knows how to deliver a memorable romance with charm, tension, and a guaranteed feel-good finish. This installment stands on its own beautifully while still feeling like part of a larger world readers will want to revisit. It is bold, entertaining, and written with a sure hand.

If you enjoy romances with big personalities, emotional confidence, and a happily-ever-after that leaves you smiling, this one absolutely earns five stars. I finished it grinning and immediately understood why Piper Kane’s Gentle Giants series has such an addictive pull!.

This is another successful installment where the FMC ended up meeting the wrong MMC first. Sweet, low angst, healing, age difference, size difference, daddy kink, praise kink, breeding kink, hea.

Meadow is returning her ex’s things, Dylan.

Garrett is Dylan’s father and an architect.
He had known for two years she was with the wrong person, sharing the wrong interests.
He knew he had to wait and be patient.
Her interest in architecture and art only confirmed what he already knew.

He waits for her to choose him.
To be seen. To be heard. Not to make herself small.

She is fully able to be herself with him, explore what all the possibilities without shame.

She also listened to him in the past, what he worked on, and she surprises him.

I love it when his father sets Dylan straight and calls him out as soon as their relationship is in the open.

His surprise for her ❤️ no spoilers

Short but addictive slightly different so hang on you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Meadow has always known what she wanted but has always only dreamed of it but following other’s expectations of her and she wasn’t really happy wondering what she is going to do to change her life. Garrett sexy as all get out much older, he has prepared all his life, but he was looking for something or someone to make him feel complete. Then he met Meadow and everything in him fell into place, but he also saw she wasn’t happy and instead of pushing her he opened up paths for her to see clearly, he was patient allowing her to make the decision just there as her strength but is it enough for her believe in herself, will she accept all of him despite his age, and will it all lead them to happiness?

Big Ask by Piper Kane was a fun, steamy age-gap romance with plenty of chemistry and swoon-worthy moments. I loved the silver-fox hero and his protective, caring personality. He may be a big, intimidating guy on the outside, but his softer side made him even more lovable. The connection between the characters felt natural, and I enjoyed watching their relationship grow despite the obstacles in their way. The age difference added an interesting dynamic without overshadowing the romance. Piper Kane delivers another entertaining story with heat, emotion, and a satisfying happily-ever-after. Overall, Big Ask is an enjoyable age-gap romance, with a protective and gentle hero that I adored reading about.

Another great installment in the Gentle Giants series, and this is the story of Garrett and Meadow. She learns that she is allowed to be herself and that she doesn't have to make herself smaller for others, and Garrett is the one who eventually sees her as she is and does everything to make her realize that, that she doesn't have to make herself smaller, and that he wants to give her everything she wants, and she sees that it is him she wants. I enjoyed their story.

Meadow had been dating Garrett’s son for two years. Meadow had been unhappy, unsatisfied and felt unseen. She goes to return a box of his stuff to his father. They talk and suddenly she feels seen. He feeds her and they talk. She leaves and forgets her scarf. When she returns for it three days later. These two come to some sort of resolution. This author has the strange ability to imply things without actually stating them. Somewhere in their discussions these two admit they have been attracted to each other for two years. The book focuses a lot on size differences and there is some daddy kink. It’s a fast paced novella that does have some spice.

This book was very good. I love the fact that they had a sweet romance. She knew what she wanted, but hid behind some one else’s expectation of you. ( like all of us do in today’s society) He was a preparer knew what he wanted, but wanted to not dim her spotlight in any way. Wanted her to come to term with what and who she wanted. I love the fact that neither apologized for loving whom they loved. I also loved the way they both handled his son. It wasn’t brutal it was honest.

Meadow is unhappy and searching to make life changes. Garrett has been searching for someone to share his life. Then he finds Meadow who is the missing piece. Garrett is gentle and kind. He knows she is unhappy but he doesn’t want to make decisions for her. So, instead he clears the way for her to be able to make whatever life choice she needs to bring her happiness. This a great read.

Meadow has been living for everyone else's expectations, but meeting Garrett changes everything. He's older, gorgeous, and completely head-over-heels for her, but instead of rushing her, he stays patient and gives her the space to believe in herself. Watching her step into her own power while falling for him was everything!.

Meadow and Garrett's story was a quick read. Written in dual pov, their story was just okay. There were parts I had to reread to make sure I understood what was going on. The writing did not pull me into the story.

I am giving this one a 3.5* , it is a cute story. just something about it doesn't flow with me. It felt so robotic, and dry. Both the mains seem emotional empty. The spice was a solid 3/5 and the plot alone was good. Just the chemistry was dry.
