Off-Limit Boardroom Enemies: An Age-gap Forced Proximity Billionaire Romance

Rate this book
I called my grumpy billionaire boss arrogant in front of his entire boardroom… Then ended up tangled in his arms from Paris to New York.

Roman Rothschild is all sharp suits, brutal control, and icy stares.
I’m the sunshine disaster who keeps challenging him anyway.

Somehow, our constant fights turn into midnight strategy sessions, shared hotel suites, and his hand settling possessively on my back as it belongs there.

He starts letting me see the man underneath the icy control.
The one who sketches buildings alone at night and softens when we’re alone, and somewhere along the way, we fall for each other harder than either of us meant to.

And right when I love him enough to picture forever, I uncover the truth.
My family profited from the supplier fraud that destroyed his father and nearly ruined the Rothschild name forever.

Then, someone frames me for corporate sabotage, and every piece of evidence points straight at me.

If Roman believes I knew all along, this won’t just destroy us.
I’ll become proof that loving me was the worst mistake of his life.

chaos and control

Scarlett is new to the team at Rothschild Global, but she has big ideas and large opinions (backed by research and brains) but she is loud where the CEO Roman is quiet, controlled and serious. To make things complicated her SIL got her the job and also works there. Scarlett is able to put her money where her mouth is and works directly with the CEO because she challenged him directly in a meeting calling him afraid, which he did not take kindly to. They have some forced proximity because her SIL goes into labor and says that to replace her on the trip to Paris to negotiate a deal, Scarlett is the best answer. Roman takes her, reluctantly, but has his assumptions proven wrong at every turn. They start to work closely together and see more behind the curtain with each other, but they can't let anyone know for propriety's sake. People start to know that they are keeping secrets, just not what it is. Then, there is a leak about the Paris trip merger and every detail points to her. Who will Roman choose to defend and trust?

"But Scarlett. Don't wait too long to tell me things. That's how secrets get heavy."

This is Roman and Scarlett’s story.
Roman is a CEO who is quiet, controlled, and serious, while Scarlett is a new hire, who is ambitious, loud, not afraid to speak her mind, and called him out in front of his boardroom. Their constant arguing turns into late night strategy sessions.
This is a well written easy to read story, with challenges, tension, enemies / lovers, opposites attract, forced proximity, boundaries, revelations, an age gap, humour, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner.

a fast, addictive workplace‑romance romp that delivers exactly what it promises: sharp banter, sizzling tension, and two stubborn rivals who absolutely should not fall for each other…and absolutely do. The enemies‑to‑lovers dynamic feels punchy and fun, the boardroom stakes keep the pace tight, and the chemistry snaps from the first confrontation. It’s a quick, satisfying read for anyone who loves corporate drama with a deliciously forbidden edge.

If you like age gap romances, you'll love Scarlett and Roman's story. A fourteen year span and they're as opposite as can be. He's grumpy, demanding, set in his ways and grew his father's company from bankruptcy to a billion dollar enterprise. She's brilliant, determined and a little spitfire overflowing with sunshine. She doesn't back down with her vision for the company and is helpful with a Paris merger. Their chemistry was off the charts and professional boundaries were challenged. What about the evidence she uncovers about her family and his father's bankruptcy? Why does she wait so long to disclose? Who is framing her? Why does he fire her? No shortage of drama, angst or plot twists. The book was well written with a story that grabs you in the beginning and it's hard to put down. I read it in one sitting. The characters are likable, complex and well developed. An epilogue with an HEA and a surprise or two. I read a free arc via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
