Rate this book

The Fives Run North-South tells the story of Adam Mann and the mysterious driver of a red SUV. After a frightening road rage incident, Adam continues to be the target of irrational ire, as the unknown driver’s increasingly unhinged acts of revenge threaten to destroy his home and work life.

But just as Adam discovers the identity of the SUV’s driver, the narrative turns to Ben Keaton, whose father Rob has suddenly passed away.

Only Rob knew the truth behind the road rage incident. It was a story in need of an ending only Ben could provide. Ben begins to suspect that the answers hold clues to Rob’s untimely death.

Parallel mysteries will keep you on the edge of your seat as fiction reveals hidden truths in this fast-paced psychological thriller.

I really enjoyed this surprising mystery. I thought for so long reading this book I knew just where the story was going. To my very happy surprise I was completely wrong.

Dan Goodin builds suspense and panic slowly and you feel every bit of it along with the characters. As the madman that is stalking this family taunts and harasses them you see the cracks in their relationship widen. Then an accident with their son pushed them over the edge.

I know you will enjoy this thriller with it's many twists. I know you've read that before about books, but this one has a wonderfully fun twist I never saw coming and this is my favor genre of books. I had to laugh when I realized how Goodin fooled me. Hope he fools you also.

I would like to thank Dan Goodin for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

wow! I actually put this book down at the first big switch in story. So glad I picked it up and finished! Starts out as a thriller, then changes to a mystery, then becomes a love story and unlikely hero. You have to pay attention as you read but it's worth it in the end.

Two different storylines are presented as they will interact with each other as they conclude the story.

We first hear about a mysterious driver of a red SUV who seems to be stalking a man. At first it seems to be a case of road rage but it turns out to being more. Once he discovers the identity of the driver we are given a new plot.

We meet a son whose father has recently passed away. As it turns out his father is the only who knows the truth behind the incident. It all becomes clearer as the story is further told as things will unravel. A unique merge where you at first do not expect it.

Inventive and innovative mystery writing

I rarely give a five star rating. However, it's even more rare to come across a story teller with the talent to make me turn pages with abandon. Twisting me through plot changes combined with format changes that left me breathless and sleepless. Each character in the story is believable and engaging. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.

THE FIVES RUNS NORTH-SOUTH By Dan Goodin, I loved this book. Road rage extreme, a book within a book, more twists than a mountain road. If you don't read this book you will miss a true reading experience.

This Goodreads Giveaway got lost among the many titles on my Kindle. I am glad I found it. The mystery of the red SUV was intriguing, with many twists I did not see coming. The book definitely made my last flight more enjoyable.

This is a mystery within a mystery, which I found unique and interesting. However, I did have a hard time keeping track of characters because they change names part way through.

Not many books make me stop and ask “what did I just read!” This book did that. Lots of twists and turns. I can usually figure out the ending pretty early but Dan had me surprised each time! Great book!

It's all about the story

This is a really quirky book in a really good way. The characters and dialogue feel crisp, fresh, & real. As is the story itself. Multilayered, with twists and turns, surprises that continue to the very end. I'd recommended it to anyone who enjoys a filling, satisfying read.
