This book is an absolute banger. Every bit of overthinking, self-doubt, and emotional vulnerability is portrayed so realistically that it stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page.🪼🪼
Sitara is a strong woman trapped in a career she never truly wanted. A lawyer by force rather than choice, she’s burnt out, emotionally exhausted, and secretly drawn to her so-called plus one…who, at first, is an absolute jerk. Watching her overthink every situation can be frustrating, but once you understand why she is the way she is, everything clicks. Her fears, her silence, and even her poor communication feel incredibly human. By the end, her character growth is one of the most satisfying parts of the story🤌🏻🤌🏻
Samar…my absolute favorite. The kind of book boyfriend who quietly steals your heart. He has always been there for his Tara, patiently waiting for the chance to truly know and understand her. He never resents her, never gives up on her, and loves her with unwavering devotion. He’s funny, charming, protective, ridiculously attractive, and completely obsessed with his Tara. You’ll fall for him simply because of the kind of man he is.🔆🔆
The enemies-to-lovers dynamic is done so well, and the workplace romance adds just the right amount of tension. Their chemistry is effortless—the banter, arguments, flirting, and conversations had me laughing so many times. There were moments when Sitara’s miscommunication became a little repetitive and frustrating, but it also made her journey feel authentic rather than perfect.🌷🌷
The writing is addictive, emotional, and keeps you hooked from beginning to end.⭐️
Definitely recommending this to anyone who loves enemies-to-lovers, workplace romance, emotional character growth, and a hero who falls first, waits patiently, and loves wholeheartedly.💗

I think I definitely like romcoms written by Indian women authors, even though I normally avoid everything cheesy. And this book felt so so so so so so relatable, that I forgot that I'm reading a romcom. 💖
Sitara is very like and unlike so many other female protagonists in books - a vivacious girl who has an open heart and loves everyone and is loved by everyone. But she is also a girl who overgives and overloves everyone, even the ones who don't deserve them and blames herself when they fail to show up as a good person. And she does this over and over again till the point of self destruction - omg guys, I can't express how perfectly the author wrote this. This one heartbreaking trait of Sitara made her so real. When she kept getting her hopes up about Nikhil's certain words and actions, oh god, my heart broke for her. I hate hate hate men like Nikhil. They are not even red flags, but even worse, they are watermelon flags (i learned this term from the internet) - people who are green on the outside and red on the inside. 😡
Now, Samar. The author has written him perfectly. Someone who gets under your skin, yet he has empathy - characteristics that I feel are only available in fictional men atp 😂. His interactions with Sitara was sooo funny, I kept laughing loudly at certain points. Their bond developed very organically and I kept rooting for them. In the last chapter, he said something sooo deep and understanding - ahhh my heart!!! Seriously, I hope the author wrote Samar from a real person 🤌🏻
Lovedddd the story. Loved Sitara's inner circle friends and office buddies! I now know why my life made me cross paths with this book and I want to say this to the universe - "message received!". Lol. My dear empathetic girlies, please read this book before falling in love with anyone, because I don't want you guys to waste even a second on a watermelon flag guy like Nikhil, when there's the possibility of a green flag guy like Samar right around the corner! And most importantly, the main lesson of this book - always choose yourself first over everyone else, loving someone doesn't mean abandoning yourself. Hence the book title.💐

This book made me cry, laugh , feel so proud at the same time!
I am talking about Take a chance on me by Arushi Gupta. This is a rom com written beautifully in around 280 pages. If you are a YJHD or mismatched lover, then there is a chance you will fall in love with this book too.
The story is about protagonist, Sitara who is 29yrs old lawyer, is in love with her colleague, Nikhil. The story also includes Samar ( my fav character), someone Sitara can’t stand, making a perfect enemies to lovers dynamics.
One of my fav parts of the story was beautiful bond between Sitara and her sister. It felt so warm and real. I also loved the friendship between Sitara, Naina and Uday . They added so much charm and fun to the story.
A huge shoutout to author in writing such an engaging and emotionally satisfying story. Its a heartfelt journey of heartbreak, panic attack, second chances, self discovery and love. I was completely hooked with the story till the very end.
If you love reading cute rom coms, enemies to lovers genre then this book has to be in your list.

A Five Tara/Sitara Read
What a comforting and joyful read in an Indian context, exactly the kind that Indian authors have been failing to churn out.
Having read through my fair share of romance novels, really pleasantly surprised by the journey this book takes you on. It showcases so much depth, be it the FMC’s self doubt, serious workplace toxicity conundrums, mental health struggles; while also retaining the quintessential hope, charm and dramatics of a rom com. Thus cracking the most important ingredient in rom coms to not make it feel empty headed.
The writing itself goes down easily and is as smooth as butter (or whipped cream in coffee) without you stumbling across numerous writing/editing errors that take away from the plot.
Amazing for a debut romance novel and all my five Taras/Sitaras to this book and superstar author. 🤩

A refreshing romance read after ages? ✅ Urban, Indian, warm setting? ✅ characters you can fall in love with? ✅ I took a chance on this new release, and absolutely loved it! I laughed, gasped, melted a little, even felt rage on behalf of the FMC. We see the world through her lens, and oh, what a fun, heartfelt lens it is! Loved the lawyer references, and the love hate relationship with the FMC’s day job. Loved that I got to see characters and not caricatures. Already waiting for the next book from this author! ♥️
