I hadn't known that Amish romances were a popular subgenre, so when NetGalley offered this one, I grabbed it, figuring (correctly) it would be just the ticket for late night reading before turning out the light.

It's gentle and positive, with a mystery tying together the very tentative romance of Jeanne and Matthew, a quilter/seamstress and a construction worker respectively. They've known one another since school--no surprise as they live in a small Pennsylvania community called, delightfully, Bird-in-the-Hand.

This romance is so squeaky-clean that sheltered twelve-year-olds curious about how you get from friendship to romance could read it. Midway along there is a wedding, but not a single blink about wedding nights, that squeaky-clean. It's full of kindness, and faith, and family, and community, with the intrusion of a mystery centering around the property of an elderly friend of Jeanne's. (Nothing too terrible happens.)

If I had any complaints it's that certain key points get repeated over and over, with very little progression in the road to romance until three quarters of the way to the end, each so uncertain, and while they talk about everything else, they don't address the issues before them, instead falling back on the same problem we were introduced to at the beginning. (And when Matthew finally speaks to Jeanne's dad--this is scarcely a spoiler as this is a romance!--it's off-stage, alas.)

But that's a relatively small matter. All the rest is just lovely, maximum overdrive on heartwarming. I'd happily read the next!

This was a very interesting Amish book about a young woman who works at her family‘s fabric store. In the past, she’s been described as flighty and not finishing projects that she started so when she wanted to start a quilting class, her parents were not on board. She persevered and hired a young Amish man to finish the back room so she could teach classes there. She had known this man for many years and they were on friendly terms but he had never made any move to date her. She asked Matthew if he would help her and he readily agreed because secretly he had liked her for many years. There’s also a sub plot of an older Amish lady who goes missing and Matthew and Jeannie help find her. I enjoyed the book and recommended.

Edge-of-Your-Seat Suspense and Authentic Amish Fiction at Its Finest

​I expected A Heart to Cherish to be better than Book 1 (A Heart Set Free), but I was not expecting it to be three times better! A Heart Set Free was a solid 5-star read for me, and since I can't give this one 15 stars, I guess I’ll settle for 5 as well. This series by Amy Clipston is phenomenal, and the touching letter she writes to her readers at the end of the book is just as good as a novel.

​Once again, we are treated to a couple navigating mirroring conflicts—this time centered around vindication and complex parental dynamics—and they are severely underestimated. I was rooting for them just as passionately in their careers as in their personal lives. The cover was fantastic, though I didn't realize just how perfect it was until the unexpected mystery unraveled. This story had me on the edge of my seat with genuine suspense, which is rare for Christian thrillers, and this is only romantic suspense.

​My niece is looking to get into Amish fiction, and I think this series may be the ultimate gateway. It is brilliantly written, feeling modern and accessible while maintaining complete authenticity.

​Recommend to others: Definitely. If you're looking for an exquisite Amish Fiction series, this one is a winner and has you covered!

I got this free from NetGalley as long as I wrote a review. Here it is:
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is set in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania. The main characters are Amish, although from my knowledge they seem more Mennonite since they have telephones in their businesses and some other modern equipment. But that's neither here nor there.

Jeannie Graber is an adult twin whose brother is getting married very soon. She has temporarily moved out of their parents' home to where he lives so he and his fiancee are not alone until they are married. Jeannie works at Graber Fabrics, owned by her parents.

Matthew Fisher is someone Jeannie has known, although not very well, for many years in school and after. Matt is a carpenter working for his brother Dennis' construction company. He wants a promotion and feels like Dennis, who raised him after their parents died when he was 7, still treats him like a child. He's 27! He's ready to lead a crew.

Jeannie gets asked about the quilts sold at Graber Fabrics. She made some of them. Two Englishers ask if she would teach them to quilt and she replies they don't have any sewing classes. These women tell her that she should and they would gladly take classes to learn from her.

This gets Jeannie thinking. She eventually comes up with a plan and gets reluctant permission to put a classroom in the big back storeroom where she could teach the classes.

As she is considering what is needed, she draws plans. She talks with Matt, knowing he works in construction, and the two of them begin to make it happen.

One of her older friends in her 80s, Esther is excited about the lessons. Jeannie asks her to help with the sewing classes. She's not keen on the idea, but she agrees to be there.

During the first sewing class, Esther does not show up. She then can't be found. This is a mystery that Jeannie and Matt try to solve.

There's another mystery--a guy who showed up in town and convinced Esther that he is related to her through one of her children who did not stay Amish and doesn't keep in touch with her much. He drives a beat up truck, has sleeves of tattoos, and terrible hair. When asked questions by Jeannie or Matt, he doesn't really answer or gives answers that seem like lies. Who is he? Is he related to Esther? And what is he looking for?

This is a wonderful read. Both Jeannie's and Matt's insecurities and hopes seem very real. Their journey to getting to know each other was both fun and frustrating! I wanted to tell Matt, several times, to just do it--ask her father's permission to date her! But it seemingly took forever with me rooting them on every step of the way.

I did not know until a few minutes ago that this book is a sequel to A Heart Set Free. I haven't read that. But considering how much I enjoyed this one, I think I'll go find that book!

Some stories feel like a gentle invitation to slow down, settle in, and remember what matters most—and A Heart to Cherish by Amy Clipston is one of them. Set in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, this heartfelt Amish romance beautifully blends faith, dreams, love, and a touch of suspense. Clipston draws readers into a world rich with wholesome traditions, close-knit community, and deeply held values, creating a setting that feels both comforting and alive. The two main characters each wrestle with personal doubts and the desire to prove their worth, which makes their journey feel honest, tender, and easy to connect with. Firstly I may say thank you for my ARC received via NetGalley. It has been a long time since I have read an Amy Clipston book, especial an Amish fiction book. This 5 star book was so Amy. I had forgotten how much I loved her writing. Everything about this book was perfect. The story, the length, the characters, the narrative so beautifully written and the conversations that I felt that I was part of. I found this book to be charming and well constructed. It wasn't a simple Amish romance. There was mystery and intrigue throughout. Talking about characters, I loved Jeannie and Matt. They were truly a perfect couple and the way their romance grew was lovely to read. I loved out loud with relief when Tim finally talked to Jeannie and chuckled as she told Matt. Jeannie was truly nothing like she saw herself to be and I am glad her parents finally shared with her their feelings. Likewise I am glad that Matthew's brother/guardian came to his senses and saw Matthew for the wonderful man he had grown into and not the little boy he raised as his own after the death of their parents. This is a must read for fans of Amy Clipston and I see that I missed a first book in the series so I shall go back and read that. I honestly felt that this book could be read as a standalone and I hope fans new and old will take my recommendation and definitely read this book.

A Heart to Cherish by Amy Clipston is the second book in the From the Heart Amish series. It is an Amish romance, one of my favorite genres. I like it when authors put glossaries and character lists at the front of the book because they are easy to refer to when needed.

We are immersed in the Amish traditions and beliefs and can feel the closeness of the community. Conflicts in this Amish community in Pennsylvania, along with Jeannie and Matthew’s insecurities, hold them back. When they work together to bring Jeannie’s dreams to fruition, there’s a definite attraction between them, but will they have the courage to act on it?

The story has a lot of characters, but a few were hard to like, especially when an unkempt Englischer shows up and tries to convince an elderly community member that he is part of her family. What happens when she disappears? Jeannie and Matthew set out to find her, and the search builds suspense. The mystery of the treasure is resolved, and there’s a happily-ever-after in the offing, with some closure.

A Heart to Cherish is a heartwarming story with some sadness and anger, but ultimately it’s about friends who become a couple, with some heartwarming moments.

A book full of courage, hope and friendship. As both Jeannie and Matthew face doubt from those closest to them, they are determined to prove those wrong and crave their own path in life.

Reading about Jeannie and Matthew’s steadfast drive to build a life they are excited to live, regardless of what others say was a good reminder, to stay true to yourself. A reminder we all need from time to time. With the support of the right people, mainly Esther, they were able to step out of the box that their families were trying to put them in. Jeannie was able to build her sewing classroom, and Matthew was able to find his place within the family business.

When Esther goes missing after an Englisher shows up in town, no one believes their suspicions that’s he had something to do with it. Their perseverance pays off as they rally the community to solve a hundreds year old myth and return Esther safely home.

This was a quick easy read for me, with countless life lessons sprinkled throughout.

In Amy Clipston’s newest book, A Heart To Cherish, Jeannie Graber and Matthew Fisher have know each other since childhood, but really got to know each other when Jeannie want to turn some of her family’s fabric store storeroom into a classroom in order to teach sewing and quilting lessons.

Teaming up, not only to build the classroom, but to find a missing elderly friend shows the couple how well they can work together.

Both characters are trying to prove themselves to their family. This makes their characters very realistic and believable.

The storyline is authentic which makes for a very believable story. Ms. Clipston does a wonderful job telling the story.

It also shows us that all things work together for God‘s glory and according to his purpose. Sometimes we forget that God‘s timing is always the best timing.

This follow-up in the From the Heart Amish series once again blends a sweet romance with a hint of suspense.

This book follows Jeannie, the sister of the MMC Jerome from the first book, as she navigates starting a new business venture and a romance of her own.

There’s a reason Amy Clipston is one of my favorite authors, period and definitely my favorite Amish author — I get pulled into her stories so easily! Her books have such an engaging writing style and I always seem to fly through them. This book was no exception. I loved learning more about Jeannie (who was such a good friend to Renee in the first book) and her relationship with her family.

The romance was super sweet (he’s liked her for a long time) but the connection between the two of them never felt forced or weird. It evolved naturally as the story progressed.

The suspense elements were nothing scary at all and somewhat predictable but it was still interesting to see Jeannie and Matthew put the pieces together.

All in all this was adorable, with lovable characters, a hint of danger to the plot and written with a very enjoyable writing style.

This was such a great story to get lost in, and we are given a lot in this read!
A book that offers some sweet romance, along with some danger that the two main characters meet head on.
Jeannie Graber wants to spread her wings, but lack confidence, Matthew Fisher wants to become a leader in his brother's construction business, and a budding romance between them, maybe?
There is also a missing elderly woman, a dear friend! I loved how these two take it personally to find her, and they sure go about it in a big way. My mind kept thinking will she be alive, are we going to find her?
Along with this mystery and danger, Jeannie may have another admirer, and Matt is hesitant to step on shoes, so to say.
Can these two forge a permanent relationship? Grow in their careers? Find their friend?
Answers come, but I wanted to stay here!

A HEART TO CHERISH was a sweet, charming love story and I absolutely enjoyed every page of it. Jeannie and Matthew were easy to root for, both of them carrying dreams, insecurities and hopes that felt very real. Their journey had that lovely mix of tenderness and faith that I always enjoy in an Amish romance and watching their relationship grow side by side was a pleasure.

One of the biggest bonuses for me was the suspense woven into the story. It added an extra layer of interest that kept me fully invested, not just in the romance but in everything happening around Jeannie and Matthew. I loved how the mystery deepened the pull of the book and gave the story even more heart. Amy Clipston writes warm, engaging stories that feel both comforting and compelling and this one was no exception.

A HEART TO CHERISH is a lovely read all around. I’m giving it the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!

In A Heart to Cherish by Amy Clipston, the two main characters are Jeannie Graber and Matthew Fisher, who are former classmates. Jeannie is employed at the family fabric store, and Matthew works on his brother's construction crew. When Jeannie has the idea of turning part of the storage room into a classroom for her to teach sewing lessons, her parents are very skeptical due to past projects she's tried and then quit. Jeannie chooses Matt to build her classroom, and as they spend time together, their friendship deepens. Will their friendship turn into something more? And where is Jeannie's elderly neighbor, Esther? Will Jeannie be able to stick with teaching her sewing classes?

I really enjoyed this book! Prominent themes are the Amish faith, new beginnings, and love. The release date is Sep 15.

This Amish romance managed to be both squeaky clean and romantic at the same time because of the loving feelings in the hearts of Jeannie and Matthew. Both characters were dealing with family members who had low confidence in them which made them appreciate the support and encouragement they received from one another. Jeannie, in particular, seemed to be negatively impacted by the doubts her parents had in her plans to give sewing lessons despite the fact that she was paying for all related expenses with her own money. This story also had an element of suspense concerning an elderly friend who went missing. It was just enough suspense to raise my concern but not enough to be overly scary. I really enjoyed their story and was happy to see how all of the family issues were resolved. Great choice for teens! I received a complimentary copy of this book. A Heart to Cherish by Amy Clipston

I really loved this book! Amy Clipston always has a way of writing stories that feel heartfelt and easy to connect with.

I especially loved the themes of family, love, forgiveness, and faith. The characters go through difficult things, but I loved seeing them grow, heal, and learn to trust God with their lives.

As a mom, I really connected with the family side of the story. It reminded me how important it is to love our families through the hard seasons and to remember that God is working even when we can’t see the whole picture.

This was such a sweet and touching story, and I loved the reminder that sometimes God brings healing and love into our lives when we least expect it.

If you enjoy Amish fiction, faith, family, and a sweet romance, I definitely recommend A Heart to Cherish!

Jeannie Graber has never been taken very seriously. In fact she is called flighty. However, while she is happy with her life in Bird in the Hand, she has always dreamed of more. I grew up near an Amish community in Indiana and I love reading stories about the Amish.

A Heart to Cherish is not only a romance, but also a story that explores the family dynamics of parents learning to let grown children become the adults they are meant to be. Throw in an unexpected mystery and you have a great story!

Jeannie hires Matthew to build a sewing room in her parents fabric store so she can teach sewing and quilting classes to Englishers and Amish alike. Along the way, they develop feelings for each other, while also working to solve the mystery of thr disapperance of an elderly member of the community.

I really.enjoyed A Heart to Cherish and look forward to the next book in this series!

Excellent Amish romance

Jeannie Grable and Matthew Fisher have known each other for years and Matthew has liked Jeannie since they were teens going to youth group together. But he was always too shy to approach her and ask her out.

Now Jeannie has plans to do a small remodel of her parent's fabric store so she can start teaching sewing classes there and she gets in touch with Matthew to do the job for her. Spending time together makes both Jeannie and Matthew realize they enjoy each other's company and want more.

Then an elderly friend disappears and the two of them investigate.

I liked this second installment of this series very much. A nice clean romance with a touch of a mystery - what more could I have wanted. I really enjoy this author.

Fantastic!

A Heart to Cherish is a fantastic blend of romance, faith, and mystery. It follows Jeannie and Matthew, and although they have known each other since childhood, they were never close. A plan that Jeannie comes up with flips the switch on their relationship. As they navigate these new waters, they confront a mystery that adds another dimension to their relationship. Through it all, they each must overcome feelings of doubt and not being good enough for others, which are a bit of a stumbling block.

This perfect combination of love, faith, intrigue, and overcoming makes A Heart to Cherish a lovely story that I highly recommend.

I enjoyed getting to know the characters and watching their relationship develop at a believable pace. The story balances romance with family, friendship, and faith, creating a warm and comforting read without feeling overly heavy.

The small-town setting adds to the charm, and the supporting cast helps bring the community to life. While the plot is fairly predictable, it's the well-developed characters and emotional moments that keep the pages turning.

Overall, this is an uplifting and enjoyable romance that will appeal to readers who appreciate wholesome love stories with heart.

What a shame!  Jeannie Graber feels that she has to prove she's not flighty to her parents and even to herself.  She can and she will do this!  Well, I hope to do this.

Matthew Fisher is ready to move up in the company his brother owns.  But his brother does not have the confidence Matthew can.  Matthew is determined to prove him wrong.

Both are determined to prove to their loved ones that they are capable and will accomplish their goals.  

Romance, intrigue and the importance of your family's approval are the themes that runs through this sweet story.  I enjoyed every moment of reading this.

A very sweet romance about an old secret crush, “A Heart to Cherish”, by Amy Clipston, features leads struggling to overcome insecurities and conquering one’s worth against the backdrop of a small Amish community.
I loved Matthew and Jeannie and their tentative, very slow-burn romance. The way they’ve been pinning for each other secretely and the fears and doubts they experience as they try to explore those feelings is gorgeous.
They’re both compelling characters, with their youth, innocence and insecurities, but also with a refreshing boldness that makes them fight for their dreams and projects.
Each is a bit unsure about the other’s feelings. Matt’s backstory is one of loss and grief; Jeannie struggles with anxiety. Their families are a place of comfort and love, yet can also arise doubts and uncertainty.
The story blends the tenderness of a secret crush evolving into a deeper connection, turning professional aspirations into reality and getting involved in a mysterious case.
I liked seeing the main characters doing things together and enjoying each other’s company. The secondary characters and the Amish setting are also interesting.

This was a wholesome read. This is my first Amish read that I discovered from a Goodreads giveaway. I was drawn to this book because I enjoy historical fiction and figured Amish culture would be similar and because I love quilting and couldn’t resist a main character who is a quilter.

This refreshing, wholesome, Christian read was just what I needed. I would definitely recommend this book to those that enjoy historical and/or Christian romance novels.

Loved this story that is about Jennie and Matthew. Jennie's idea to teach sewing classes, her twin brother Jerome getting married and Esther's disappearance ( a mystery) that Jennie and Matthew follow through. Dennis showing some respect for Matthew.
