July 2026 Small Business BookTok ARC Reviews (BookFable Edition): “Sealed with a Kiss” by Nicole Parker
Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.
The Selkie who can't stand Sea Lions.. The Sea Lion shifter who's smitten for her, but she doesn't know his secret.. Two Unexpected Penpals.. One Paranormal Beachside Town!
From the author of the Kyleverse series comes a new novella in a brand new Paranormal Romance series “Sierra Luna” by Nicole Parker! While not considered a spin-off, The magical town of Sierra Luna does take place within the same universe as the author-collaborated Paranormal Romance series “Ghostlight Falls”, in which Nicole was involved and wrote the installations in the series “Hello, Nurse!” and “The Totally Typical Tale of Mappy McMapface”. Not only does the book tackles commentary on the dangers of judging a group based on bias and prejudice in a clever way through the central conflict between Selkies and Sea Lion Shifters, but the aquatic romance also acts as a loose nod to the 2005 animated film “Romeo & Juliet: Sealed with a Kiss”! Ready to dive into Parker’s supernatural take on a Beach Read Romance? Then don’t miss out on this book when it hits online and in-store shelves on August 14, 2026!

Nicole Parker…how do I explain this to someone who stumbles upon this review. ??? Okay let’s try this. Have you ever wondered what a sea lion thinks about seals? How do sea lions hang out with friends? Roommates? Party? Are they all the same attitude or are the different? What about when IF they could shift? What would they say, do, act…what would they look like in their birthday suits (wink wink)…now add that a sea lion has a crush on a girl that comes to the beach, writes letters, too anxious to introduce themselves but has a meddling extroverted best friend with a bit of drama and wants to have his BFF get the girl….well you can find out in Sealed with a kiss…LOL. I seriously went from.. What in the world Nicole, to..OMG I love that anxious little bean OH and his BFF is 1000% me in male sea lion shifter form (what, did I just really think that) to..OKAY anxious little bean, look at you acting out of pocket and using those words! To WTF NICOLE!! Why, how, WHAT was that ending…. So yeah, hope that helps
The bullet points Nicole didn’t list but I’m giving you anyway! * the battle for the beach * enemies to lovers (but selkie X sea lion and adorable) * lighthouse butt stuff. They don’t do it IN a lighthouse. The lighthouse does it in them.
First standalone entry in the Sierra Luna world and I absolutely loved it. Cameos from Sir Paco and Kira tie us neatly back to the teasing source material but the magic that Nicole weaves in a novella is where it really stands out. Seriously, how can one person work so much emotional connection and delicious spice into 60 something pages? I loved it! I loved Olivia’s hatred of sea lions. I loved otters. I loved Shawn and his BFF wingman ways. Most of all, I loved Olivia and Stevie and how they found their way to each other. And in each other. And with each other.
This was delicious. Cannot wait for more Sierra Luna fun!
Thanks so much to Nicole for the ARC. As always, my opinions are voluntarily shared and honest and correct.
✨✨ARC REVIEW✨✨ Let me start this review by saying THAT ENDING?! HELLO???? What did I do to be left on a cliffhanger??? I’m obviously being punished because Nicole has NEVER done this to me😩 Okay I’m done spiraling FOR NOW This is a Selkie X Sea Lion romance, I am the very obvious audience for this book. The FMC HATES sea lions like makes fun of them and detests them sharing the same waters as her so irony would have her falling in lovvvve unknowingly with one. I loved the mutal pining and instant attraction with these characters. I’m still blown by the ending and hoping we get more of the characters in this town because I’m going to be unhealthily obsessed with them I just know it.
Sealed with a Kiss is another great short read by Nicole and is a Sierra Luna Story.
Nothing better than a sea lion hating selkie falling for a sea lion to shake things up. 🦭 🌊
“Fuck sea lions.” - Olivia
I enjoyed watching that change and reading the cute notes written back and forth between Stevie and Olivia. But it wasn’t all cutesy notes left on the beach. It gets spicey! These two know how to heat it up in the bedroom.
“If you can be a good girl and let me finish what I started, I’ll let you pick your prize.” - Olivia
I’m glad they got passed their differences and found each other.
But let’s talk about the cliffhanger? What is happening with Shawn and Rocco??!!
This is a sweet and charming read. I thought it was adorable the concept that Stevie and Sierra communicated via handwritten letters as Stevie was too shy to approach Sierra right away. He even signed the letters as "S". If not for his best friend, these two would still be writing letters to each other. Although, they had their first great debate about which is better...seals or sea lions.
This novella is low key on the steam, except for the last several pages. More character driven story. A cute read for sure.
This was a fun series opener that brings together a Selkie and a Sea Lion Shifter. This was really fun as Olivia has no time for sea lions because they block her from the ocean. Who knew they were so territorial? ;) Stevie, however is pining hard for the beauty on the beach and with the help of his BFF, Shawn, they finally get past the pining and into the spice ;P Expect to fly through the pages of this shorter read...only to hit the cliffy ending ;) I'm definitely looking forward to the next book. Good fun!
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one, but I'm glad I did! Stevie is so painful shy and thankfully Olivia has enough bossiness to get them through the awkwardness. I'm so interested in the next installment after that ending!
Yes if: Shy boy turns Dom in bed No if: You love Sea Lions
They're a sea lion shifter She's a selkie Handwritten notes Mistaken identity Instant connection Sea lions are loud
WTH, Nicole?! First, you torment me with a Furby. Then you make me cry for Kyle and a pair of NYE glasses. Now I have beef with sea lions?
I loved every minute of this. Thanks for the smut, but now I need the second in this series because Shawn is important to me. I needs to know what happened.
The middle school note passing is cute. Heck, I didn’t even mind the miscommunication… but the lighthouse TOY?! Come onnnn 🥵 This was as adorable as it was spicy! Thank you nicole, for blessing my eyes with this masterpiece of a shifter romance.
10/10 no notes, okay maybe just one give. me. more.
A sea lion-hating selkie and a shy sea lion shifter with hidden depths make the perfect pairing. And his depths aren’t the only hidden thing…that’s right, there’s a 🐓pocket! This is funny and spicy and Ghostlight Falls-adjacent.

Nicole Parker does it again! I read it in one sitting! I fell hard and fast for Stevie and Olivia. It was fast paced and had the signature NP humour to it! And that ending! I had to go back and reread the last chapter like surely not! Definitely one to give a go!
The question is, team seal or team sea lion? A quick and cute enemies to lovers shifter romance. There were so many emotions to process in this story, but I left very satisfied. I can’t wait to see more from Sierra Luna!
Nicole!!!! This was the cutest little novella I ever did read. We have beach pen pals, the seal who hates sea lions and the sea lion who is obsessed with her. Couldn't have loved it more if I tried.
I love Nicole Parker’s stories and this one was no different! It was short, sweet and just the right amount of spicy. Highly recommend if you like shifters.
This is such a fun story! I only stopped laughing long enough to swoon. Enemies to lovers but it’s selkies and sea lions. It’s amazing. Nicole is a genius. The slow burn of it all is incredible. Between Olivia’s mistaking one seal lion for another, and Stevie being way too shy to make a move, you think “how will they ever make this happen,” but then suddenly they’re in bed and it’s getting hot and heavy and there’s a lighthouse involved. It’s awesome. I really never stopped to consider if seals and sea lions would have turf wars, but obviously they would, because sea lions suck.* Seals are way cooler.
*okay actually the only animals that I actually have beef with are koalas and honestly it’s not even their fault, evolution truly effed them over.
⭐️ARC REVIEW⭐️ I loved this story, the cute secret admirer x pen pal situation between Stevie and Olivia and the funny misunderstanding that happens with two seal lions and the selkie biased against them. The spice was hot hot hot and Stevie has a real dom side to them that I very much enjoyed.
Like everything Nicole Parker writes, it’s funny, entertaining and spicy in the best ways
Also that epilogue makes me need the next story so freaking bad!
This was such a cute read!! Who knew that seals hated sea lions. Maybe it's just Olivia. Is the best way to a mysterious stranger's heart by immediately insulting him? Couldn't hurt, right?? Poor Olivia really puts her foot in it right off the bat, but through some more notes back and forth and a little push... we get something a lot more fun.
A very different take on a shifter romance, I now never want to leave Sierra Luna, I will be taking up residence in Cat Lady Village, thank you, and will be taking no further questions.
Only Nicole Parker can turn a joke into an amazing story!
This story was short, sweet, spicy, and funny. Stevie was adorably awkward 🥰 I loved how he and Olivia passed notes to get to know each other. Fans of Ghostlight Falls and any of NP's other work will love this story!
OF COURSE.... of course I would love this little shifter romance. Seals and Sea Lions...yes please. Who knew that sea lions were kinda the bullies of the beach? Not me. But of course not everything is as it seems...and this sea lion has a HUGE crush. The mistaken identity...the mutual pining....the letters. It was all so sweet! And the spice....cause y'all know Author Nicole Parker is gonna bring the spice...and any unique appendages into the mix...c--k pocket it is. These two have this instant and undeniable connection...and it's sooo good! It's short and spicy... and a great little shifter romance! And we're left with a good old dose of edging from this author... I cannot wait to read Rocco & Shawn's story next!
