Look no further for your next romantasy read that will definitely help after your finish TOG and need to find a world that’s rich with lore and amazing characters.
We meet Addie who is plagued by nightmares of a world far beyond New York City. As the nightmares continue ahead ends up falling into the world she has been seeing. Addie is strong and so relatable the entire time. She doesn’t come off as an FMC who is entirely lost. I loved her. She comes to meet a handsome man who changes the course of everything.
Will, commander to the Queen, Addie meets him as she is lost and learns there are things only she is able to do. He is fiercely protective and loyal. I am excited to see what will come in the future books especially after the ending 👀😮 If you enjoy druids, one bed, one horse, interesting magic, outlander vibes then I highly recommend this one!

This book was such an amazing read, I absolutely could not put it down. Drummond created such an amazing setting with Threllwood, and I loved Adira and Gwilym so much. I’m already waiting with bated breath for the next book and this one hasn’t even released yet!

Wow. Where do I begin?! I absolutely freaking devoured this book. Started it immediately after receiving the arc last night and finished it this next morning.
The story?! The characters?! The adventure!? The world?? So many questions. Addie is an amazing FMC and Will?? Ughh the little moments they have through the story to where it finally paid off made everything perfect.
Threllwood feels like home to me. The world building was incredible! I felt like I was sitting at a campfire in the woods. Also because I want to be Addie 🤣. The lore and the reveals PLUS the questions that we still need answered. absolutely incredible. I loved this book and cannot believe I was this lucky to read it early. What an amazing start to a series that I cannot wait to see where it takes us! There is still so much we need to find out for our characters it’s going to be a journey I know I’ll love.

Guys!!!! This book!!! This was incredible! It has everything! Time travel, enemies to lovers, magic, secret identity, found family…just everything! This felt like a combination of Outlander, A Knight in Shining Armor, The Road of Bones with a little NeverEnding Story mixed in. I am completely blown away.
Kingdom of the Owl is a story about a young woman named Adria Howell (Addie) who has been working in a thankless job, trying to appease her judgmental Aunt, and ongoing therapy appointments to discuss her suffering lapses in reality. Struggling to juggle all her responsibilities and relationships, Addie has reached her limit when she starts seeing owls everywhere. Thoroughly convinced she is going crazy, with her reoccurring dreams of owls, smoke, and a blue eyed stranger, Addie begins to isolate herself more and more. All this reaches a peak when she wakes up finding herself in an open field, alone, dressed in clothes of another time.
I cannot stress how wonderful this story is. If you enjoy slow-burn romance, monsters, dark magic, portal travel, a hot but caring MMC, an FMC who builds her confidence, with a Druid/Gaelic inspired setting, this is your book! Do not wait, add this to your TBR now! It’s excellent!

Kingdom of the Owl is fantastic, that’s it, full stop. I have never seen myself in an FMC the way I do with Addie, I couldn’t put this story down, and can’t wait to see where it goes next.
Christine Drummond has written a really special story, where I could insert myself as a reader in a way that feels organic, and natural, and the world she has built is truly beautiful. The world building is excellent, she manages to craft a rich and layered world, and the magic systems seamlessly fit this world, the sum is definitely more than its parts. Threllwood sounds like a place where I would love to spend time, I’m not sure I could dream anything better.
The surrounding characters are all written equally well, Will is a dream of an MMC, and we have the most important piece here too, female friends, Addie’s friendships are a testament to the beauty of female friendship, and I love them.
I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten an early look at this beauty, huge thank you to the author and City Owl Press / Gilded Wing Books for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

If you are looking for a Romantasy book that pulls you into the world and the characters and has chokehold on you that you happily give into, then you need to immediately get a copy of this book.
I have never been so enraptured by a story/series in my life. I have never felt so pulled into the story, the worlds, so involved with the characters. This was described as a mix of ACOTAR and Outlander crossover, but with druids! And I would absolutely agree with that, except I believe the author took the best of all worlds and created “Kingdom of the Owl”.
The author has a way of drawing you in with her metaphors and lyrical writing and makes you feel like you are immersed in the story yourself.
Addie and Will’s story begins in Threllwood (or is it Manhattan?!). You become so attached to these characters and you feel their emotions. As an individual with anxiety, I strongly related to Addie’s struggles and felt like I was sitting there with her during those moments.
The beauty of the writing and the emotions throughout had me in tears, during happy moments, sad ones, and bittersweet. There is also some amazing banter that had me laughing to tears!
For years, I have struggled with answering the question, “What is your favorite book?” I will no longer struggle with this question. I would give this book a 10 star rating if I could. The only struggle I will have is waiting for Book 2.

How do you write about a book that makes you feel like you are living in it? I don't even know where to start. BUT this book was everything!
The way this book was written, the imagery, the words everything felt like you were living in this world along side of the characters. Living within the book!
The pace of the book was great! It flowed well from one moment to the next, nothing seeming to pause or take its time. The world building was wonderful! building as you went along but also leaving bread crumbs throughout the book! I love what pieces of history/folklore ending up in this book and absolutely love that take one it! (if you know, you know)
I really enjoyed Addie's character. I know that a lot of us would identify with her on so many levels. I love reading this book from her point of view.
Will, the MMC was so well written. I love his personality, how mysterious he was and then how he evolved after that. Both of their interactions with each other were perfect for their characters.
There is also so much more I want to know!
This book was so well written it brought you in the book and made you stay!

I devoured these pages in two days… TWO DAYS!!!!! There’s soooo much to say! We’ve got top tier world building that is so incredibly immersive, it felt like I was literally there too! (Please, I want to be in Threllwood too) There’s a story and plot that utterly captivates you along with a unique magic system/history.
There’s adventure, quite the adventure our FMC Addie takes. She is one of the best FMC’s I’ve read: she’s all heart, sass, so so smart! I’m so glad she found herself as the story develops! You can’t help but see yourself (in some capacity) in her! And our MMC, Will!? He feels like you’ve known him your whole life!?!? Their chemistry, their yearning and tension!?!? Yes please. He’s her perfect match in every sense.

I am so excited to be on the Street Team for Christine Drummond because this is a debut that I know EVERYONE is going to be talking about before too long! This book was so much fun and held my attention the entire time with a plot that is original enough to be fun while still leaning in to all the fun familiar tropes. If you love ACOTAR, Outlander, or really any kind of romantasy involving finding yourself unexpectedly in a magical world, you’ll love this one!
For me, the biggest standout here was the characters. I loved Addie and rooted for her so hard as she dealt with some really complicated and difficult situations. I also thought Will was the perfect blend of swoony, mysterious, and sweet, and when he [redacted for spoilers] I absolutely LOST IT. All the secondary characters were also delightful and I can’t wait to see their parts grow as the series continues!
Highly recommend to all the fantasy/romantasy fans!

This book was phenomenal! I read it in less than 24 hours - I could not put it down. Give it all the stars. I will be screaming about this one from the rooftops!
Our FMC Addie (Adira) is a woman living in NYC with a stressful job and a super complicated relationship with the aunt who raised her. She’s been having crazy vivid dreams for years and starts hallucinating and thinks she’s finally cracking from all the pressure. Until she wakes up in a strange forest and ends up taken prisoner by a captain of the guard of this mysterious realm.
It’s marketed as ACOTAR meets Outlander and it completely delivers. I loved the world building and it being based off of druids and elemental magic / portal fantasy. Very cool.
I wouldn’t say that any of the twists caught me completely off guard but it was a great story with a good mix of plot and romance. I love Will so much. I also loved the way this story ended - I cannot wait to see where the story goes in book two (but the cliffhanger isn’t so painful that I’ll be suffering)

Addie and Will were great main characters, I liked them both throughout the book and their individual character development. They were so cute together too! This story was not really like anything i’ve ever read before and I loved that. It was unique with the storyline in general and also it being set in New York as well as Threllwood. I loved how it was written!

this was such a fun read! the world building was done so well, it was enjoyable rather then confusing (as some are). i truly felt like i was a part of the book, looking at the beautiful world of threllwood with my own eyes.
i loved the mental health rep (addie with anxiety) because that truly is so relatable. addie’s character growth was so fun to read & of course the twist at the end was sooo good i can’t wait for book two.

The wait for this ARC was so worth it, so so so good! So unique in the storyline of world jumping from a modern day New York City. The world building and descriptions was perfect so that you can actually imagine being in both worlds. The characters, all not just main are such an integral part of the story. Christine definitely made my eyes pop multiple times and I highly recommend this on your TBR!

This was such a magical journey!! I’m completely wrung out and desperate for more Threllwood. I don’t typically read Fantasy or Romantasy and I loved this!! The portals between worlds and secrets made me devour this. Addie, the FMC, is on a course of self-discovery and there’s a slow burn, enemies to lovers romance that was exquisite. Highly recommend this one!!

This is what happens when haunting dreams, ancient magic, and slow-burn romance collide. Kingdom of the Owl pulled me into its world from page one and refused to let go. Moody, immersive, and packed with mystery, it’s the kind of romantasy that leaves you thinking about it long after you’ve closed the book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars – A breathtaking portal romantasy that completely enchanted me
Kingdom of the Owl by Christine Drummond was an absolute surprise in the best possible way. In a genre overflowing with fae courts and familiar tropes, this story manages to feel fresh while still delivering everything romantasy readers crave. If you’ve ever wished Outlander had a magical, druid-inspired fantasy sibling, this book is exactly that.
From the very beginning, I was hooked by Addie’s story. Stuck in a mundane, unfulfilling life in New York and tormented by vivid nightmares that seem far too real, she’s a heroine who feels relatable and easy to root for. When those nightmares suddenly become reality and she wakes in the magical kingdom of Threllwood, you’re thrown into the adventure right alongside her. The sense of confusion, wonder and danger is so well written that I felt completely immersed from the first chapter.
Then we meet Gwilym Noctura… and what a hero he is. As the Queen’s commander, Will is everything you want in a romantasy love interest powerful, intimidating, fiercely loyal, morally grey, and carrying far more beneath the surface than he initially lets on. His internal struggle between honour, duty and doing what he knows is right creates such compelling tension throughout the novel.
The chemistry between Addie and Will is exquisite. This is the definition of a slow burn, and it absolutely tortures you in the best possible way. Every glance, every reluctant conversation, every moment of forced proximity builds layer upon layer of anticipation. Christine Drummond understands that sometimes the smallest moments create the biggest emotional payoff, and she executes it beautifully.
One of my favourite aspects of the book was Addie’s character growth. She begins as someone who has spent far too long allowing life and other people to dictate her worth. Watching her gradually discover her strength, embrace her abilities, and become someone who fights for herself was incredibly satisfying. Her transformation feels earned rather than rushed, making her journey all the more inspiring.
The magic system was another standout. I absolutely loved the focus on druids and elemental magic something we don’t see nearly enough in romantasy. It gave the world its own unique identity while drawing on mythology that feels both ancient and enchanting. The world-building is immersive without becoming overwhelming, allowing readers to naturally discover Threllwood alongside Addie.
Christine Drummond’s writing is beautiful throughout. The descriptions paint vivid landscapes without slowing the pace, the dialogue feels authentic, and the emotional moments hit exactly where they’re supposed to. Whether the story is delivering heart-racing action, quiet character moments or simmering romantic tension, the prose consistently shines.
While Kingdom of the Owl contains many beloved romantasy tropes portal fantasy, enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, hidden powers, morally grey hero, magical kingdoms it never feels like it’s simply ticking boxes. Instead, it weaves them together into a story that feels fresh, immersive and wholly its own.
By the time I turned the final page, I wasn’t ready to leave Threllwood or these characters behind. I wanted more of Addie, more of Will, more of the magic, and more of this beautifully crafted world.
If you’re looking for a romantasy with rich world-building, unforgettable characters, magical druids, breathtaking slow-burn romance, and strong Outlander-style portal fantasy vibes, Kingdom of the Owl deserves a place at the very top of your TBR.

Kingdom of the Owl by Christine Drummond was an absolute surprise in the best possible way. In a genre overflowing with fae courts and familiar tropes, this story manages to feel fresh while still delivering everything romantasy readers crave. If you’ve ever wished Outlander had a magical, druid-inspired fantasy sibling, this book is exactly that.
From the very beginning, I was hooked by Addie’s story. Stuck in a mundane, unfulfilling life in New York and tormented by vivid nightmares that seem far too real, she’s a heroine who feels relatable and easy to root for. When those nightmares suddenly become reality and she wakes in the magical kingdom of Threllwood, you’re thrown into the adventure right alongside her. The sense of confusion, wonder and danger is so well written that I felt completely immersed from the first chapter.
Then we meet Gwilym Noctura… and what a hero he is. As the Queen’s commander, Will is everything you want in a romantasy love interest powerful, intimidating, fiercely loyal, morally grey, and carrying far more beneath the surface than he initially lets on. His internal struggle between honour, duty and doing what he knows is right creates such compelling tension throughout the novel.
The chemistry between Addie and Will is exquisite. This is the definition of a slow burn, and it absolutely tortures you in the best possible way. Every glance, every reluctant conversation, every moment of forced proximity builds layer upon layer of anticipation. Christine Drummond understands that sometimes the smallest moments create the biggest emotional payoff, and she executes it beautifully.

I could picture everything so easily. Love a portal fantasy they just seem to hit differently, loved jumping back and forth between the two worlds.
The plot was compelling, intricate and action packed. Honestly...unputdownable is the best way to describe it. I had to know what was going to happen. Completely captivates you.
There are some fantastic side characters in this book. I loved Neevh, she was honest and caring.
I found all interactions with Vitki interesting and equally frustrating 😂
The last 10% had me in a chokehold. I was stressed!! So fast paced and action packed with really high stakes. 🤯
And Will's chapter at the end...sitting there with tears streaming down my face! 😭I love this man!!

The second I heard this was being compared to a modern-day Outlander, I knew it was going straight to the top of my TBR. As someone who loves getting completely lost in another world, this book delivered everything I was hoping for and then some.
One of my favorite things? Druids instead of Fae. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fae as much as the next fantasy reader, but this felt so refreshing. The story effortlessly jumps between present-day Manhattan and the magical kingdom of Threllwood, and I never wanted to leave either.
Addie quickly became a character I was rooting for. She’s an anxious people-pleaser who’s trying to figure out who she is while working through therapy and learning that her worth isn’t defined by everyone else. That really resonated with me. Watching her slowly find her strength while questioning whether she’s losing her mind—or whether this new world is actually real—made her feel incredibly human.
Then we have Will…
Cue me kicking my feet.
The Queen’s Commander is patient, protective, quietly yearning, and absolutely drowning in secrets. You know those love interests who somehow say everything with the things they don’t say? Yeah… that’s Will. I adored him.
The mystery kept me hooked the entire time. Threllwood is being consumed by a darkness no one seems able to stop, and the deeper Addie digs for answers, the more you realize she’s connected to this world in ways even she doesn’t understand. Every chapter left me saying, “Just one more.”
And then…
THAT. ENDING.
Christine really looked me in the eyes, shattered my emotions, and said, “See you in book two.”
Now I’m over here patiently (not patiently) waiting for the next installment because I need answers immediately.

I have been all anticipation for Kingdom of the Owl since last year! Author Christine Drummond was one of the first people I met and chatted with when I joined the bookstagram community. The story behind her inspiration captured my attention, then as tropes and lore emerged and more info was revealed I just knew I would love it!
Thank you to the author and City Owl Press! I’m so grateful to be able to read and review this as an ARC. Thank you to the author and City Owl press! The pacing, plot, character development, world-building, and dialogue were all perfectly balanced. It was a very smooth read with a quick pace but not so fast that you’re flying through.
There are two settings for this portal fantasy, and both are well executed. There’s a lot of rich detail framing each scene that draws the imagination and heightens the emotional qualities in thr narrative. Threllwood is beautiful, and the stark contrast with New York is jarring in the same way you’d expect stepping off a Manhattan street in into an ancient forest would feel. The author bends reality in the best way.
The developing relationships, both romantic and friendly, were excellently timed. I really enjoyed the way the magical system connected characters in the story and also how the characters weren’t human still have realistic traits that make them relatable. The romance is “open-door” but elegant in the approach. It is easily skippable and there isn’t much of it.
I’m trying hard not to post any spoilers in my review, but want to hit the highlights and maybe I can edit this to be more eloquent in a few days. This book delivered the tropes with gusto. The connection to the Tuatha De Danaan is really cool, I love that this world is full of Druids instead of Fae. The slow build romance and one bed trope worked so well. The connection is fascinating between dreams, hallucinations, therapy, modern life, and then this alternate world. There are definitely Outander vibes, and I really enjoyed the fresh take on romantasy that felt truly original and unique.
The MMC is one of my favorite depictions of this archetype. Gwylim ties the line perfectly between rough exterior and respectfully living temperament.
This is a definite 100% recommend from me and I am going to hop on that special edition of this book faster than a bunny. 5 times 5 stars. STUNNING.

They are NOT ready!! Less than 24 hours. That's how long it took me to absolutely devour this book. THIS is a 6 star book. It's unique, it's a breath of fresh air. If you're looking for something that hasn't been done before, you're going to absolutely need this book. This is a game changer. If you want a modern take on Outlander, the action and high stakes of Throne of Glass, the feel and magic of Once Upon a Time.... GET READY!
This book will HOOK you! Christine demands you LISTEN with every word. The prose is so captivating and thought provoking that you can't help but get lost in the world of Threllwood. The descriptions are done so well and so efficiently that it plays out like a movie in your head. It's not superfluous or over the top but just adds to the essence of the story. Some of my favorite parts are the depictions of nature. It's so beautifully descriptive that I was in awe. Feelings and emotions are written with such care, and they truly make you SEE and understand our characters.
The yearning. The banter. Oh yeah, did I mention the yearning?? An absolutely delicious slow burn. When I'm over halfway through the book and I'm begging for at least a small peck, you know it's real. You will meet some phenomenal characters that really tug at your heartstrings. Addie, our FMC, is so relatable in so many ways. If you've ever felt like you're a fly on the wall in your own life, felt like you were living for anyone but yourself, felt like you didn't know yourself, and life was just passing you by... you will resonate with Addie. Truly, I found myself just wanting to give her a hug and say, "Me too, Addie." You will see an incredible transformation, and you will smile, laugh, cry, and you'll be angry. It'll be a feeling that you won't be able to let go of.
If you're a nerd (like me) for lore, world building, history, and magic, it's done so so well in this book! It's unique and so fun to read. It isn't too heavy or overwhelming, and you really learn along with our MC. You feel like you're along for the journey too. I don't think I will ever forget the magic this book made me feel.

One of my favorite things was how seamlessly the mythology and folklore were woven into the story. The Celtic influences added so much depth, and I especially appreciated all of the little details and symbolism that made the world feel rich and intentional. It was also refreshing to explore a fantasy world centered around a different long-lived race instead of relying solely on the Fae. As someone who loves Fae stories, this felt like such a welcome change of pace.
Addie’s journey was easily one of the strongest parts of the book. Watching her grow in confidence, learn to trust herself, and slowly discover where she truly belongs was incredibly satisfying. Her internal dialogue—and occasional habit of talking to herself—made her feel so genuine and relatable. I found myself rooting for her every step of the way.

There was a lot packed into this book a relatable character, love, action, mystery, a looming and dangerous threat and so many secrets.
The concept of portals and dual timelines is what made me want to read l this book. Adira travels between two worlds, one being modern day New York and the other the beautiful land of Threllwood filled with magic and Druids.
What I really latched on to was the contrast of how Addie felt in both worlds. In New York she was overwhelmed, stressed, weighed down and unfulfilled. She was constantly faced with the disappointment of not feeling enough, and plagued by hallucinations and nightmares. When she awakes in Threllwood it’s like the heaviness weighing her down is ripped away and she’s completely different. Settled and more at peace without her constant nightmares, purposeful in everything she does, and powerful in a way she never could have imagined. She becomes so much more while she was there stronger, braver, and confident. It really made me root for her to stay in Threllwood.
Every aspect of the story made it interesting but I really wanted it to dive deeper. I had a feeling that Will and Adira would be growing close together in this book, but Will’s emotions felt so hot and cold that it was hard for me to stay in step with him. And when they were both all in I felt like I had missed something. Even with all of that, I was still rooting for them as a couple because I could see the heart of what was there. They had chemistry, banter, and a draw to each other that was undeniable.
I am looking forward to book 2, to see more of the mysteries unravel and hopefully see a more in depth look at the world and grow a deeper connection to the characters.

There was a lot packed into this book a relatable character, love, action, mystery, a looming and dangerous threat and so many secrets.
The concept of portals and dual timelines is what made me want to read l this book. Adira travels between two worlds, one being modern day New York and the other the beautiful land of Threllwood filled with magic and Druids.
What I really latched on to was the contrast of how Addie felt in both worlds. In New York she was overwhelmed, stressed, weighed down and unfulfilled. She was constantly faced with the disappointment of not feeling enough, and plagued by hallucinations and nightmares. When she awakes in Threllwood it’s like the heaviness weighing her down is ripped away and she’s completely different. Settled and more at peace without her constant nightmares, purposeful in everything she does, and powerful in a way she never could have imagined. She becomes so much more while she was there stronger, braver, and confident. It really made me root for her to stay in Threllwood.
Every aspect of the story made it interesting but I really wanted it to dive deeper. I had a feeling that Will and Adira would be growing close together in this book, but Will’s emotions felt so hot and cold that it was hard for me to stay in step with him. And when they were both all in I felt like I had missed something. Even with all of that, I was still rooting for them as a couple because I could see the heart of what was there. They had chemistry, banter, and a draw to each other that was undeniable.
I am looking forward to book 2, to see more of the mysteries unravel and hopefully see a more in depth look at the world and grow a deeper connection to the characters.

WOW! AMAZING!! The blurb and cover really drew in my attention for this book. It's hard to believe this is Christine's debut novel! It should be at the top of everyone's TBR!
A woman from New York is trapped in recurring nightmares. Eventually, she is pulled into the nightmare. She thought it was only her anxiety, but surprise, it's not. I love how she works on her anxiety as well as working on determining her worth to herself. The MMC, Will and his other men find her in the middle of the forest and her new journey begins from that point on.
The world building is impressive right from the beginning and remains strong throughout the story. The writing draws you in, making you feel as if you are living through Addie's experiences. I genuinely connected with the emotions expressed by various characters, resonating deeply with their words. It feels like Christine plucked thoughts directly out of my mind. Her writing is incredible! She connects with the readers in such a profound way and makes it relatable.
Addie and Will are wonderfully crafted characters, along with the supporting cast. Their dynamics and relationships enhance the narrative, making you feel as though you're part of the journey.
Addie embarks on thrilling adventures that lead her to discover a wealth of knowledge. As she uncovers hidden secrets, the excitement of her journey only intensifies, adding to the whirlwind of experiences she encounters. It is so much fun learning right along with her!
This was a phenomenal story and I couldn't put it down! I need book two NOW! Book one ends in a huge cliffhanger! This is one of my favorite books! Top tier! This is an infinity read for me! More than 5 stars! ♾️/5!

The world building was phenomenal. This high stakes romantasy was definitely a hit for me! It was insane!

Addie - I adored her character growth. She went from being a pushover to finding her courage , strength and power. All she had known was not the truth and these vivid dreams and hallucinations was the start of her journey . In moments of weakness, she showed strength. In moments of defeat , she showed determination. But what is the true cost of her seeking answers?
Will - He was lovable! He was in a constant battle. In the realm and in his mind. Torn between his loyalty to his role, the Crown and his emotions. He was fierce , protective and he kept surprising me. The one twist? Totally unexpected. I knew he was harbouring secrets , his half truths made me question his motive. Could he really be trusted? They were both loveable and I prayed that they get their happy ending!
I am in awe of the beauty of Threllwood. Although masked with secrets , lies to protect and a mystery that’s causing deaths .. this realm was absolutely stunning! The descriptions and details in the writing placed me in each scene .. It was truly mesmerising! I loved the unique magic system too.
Overall , this was a fantastic read with the perfect ending that has me craving book 2!! I am in awe of this authors writing because WOW! I was on edge for the last couple of chapters. I can finally breathe. The twists kept on coming….
Would I recommend? Absolutely!! I’m now going to stare at the wall because I need to process this beautiful story. This book may have sent me into a book slump (but in the BEST possible way)

This book is absolutely phenomenal and I was locked in from the first page.
I'm always curious and intrigued by portal fantasies and this one was absolutely top tier.
Addie is snarky, loyal, kind and full of the real human trauma so many experience. Her difficulties at work, being a people pleaser and her really awful relationship with her parental figure are very relatable and made me feel so connected to her as a character. She feels like she doesn't fit in, can't seem to get the whole "life" thing right and all she wants is to feel peace and certainty in her body and life. That I can definitely relate to.
I absolutely love how the magic of Threllwood is woven into Addie's human life but is presented as anxiety induced visions which again plays on a very relatable concept, when you can't trust your own brain. Definitely been there my friends. I also enjoyed Addie's found family and how supportive they were of her even before her magical journey. Jules, Devon and Lydia are vibrant and stand out on their own as characters I'd love to know more about, especially given that not everything is as it seems even in the human realm.
Give me a Will all day, every day! He has presence, passion and a fierce loyalty and care towards the people he loves. I love his moodiness but also his snark, banter and directness. He and Addie compliment each other so well despite literally being raised and influenced by different realms.

I honestly don’t even know where to begin because this book completely consumed me.
From the very first chapter, I was hooked. What starts with Addie being haunted by vivid nightmares slowly unfolds into something so much bigger, and I loved discovering the secrets of Threllwood alongside her. Every answer only led to more questions, and I never once felt like I knew where the story was heading.
One of my favourite things about this book was Addie. She felt like such a real person. She wasn’t fearless or instantly knew what to do, she questioned herself, struggled with anxiety, and constantly doubted what was happening around her. Watching her slowly grow into her strength made her journey incredibly rewarding.
And Will completely stole my heart. I was hooked on him from the moment he appeared. Powerful, patient, protective, and somehow both intimidating and comforting at the same time, every scene with him had my full attention. The chemistry between him and Addie was beautifully written, and I loved that their relationship developed naturally alongside the mystery instead of overshadowing it.
The worldbuilding deserves so much praise. Threllwood felt magical, ancient, and completely alive. I especially loved the Druid magic system, it was such a refreshing change and made the world feel unique. I could picture every forest, every ruin, and every magical moment so vividly.
And that ending... I absolutely was not prepared for it. Just when I thought everything was finally coming together, Christine Drummond delivered an ending that left me staring at the page, desperate for the next book.

I was surprised by how quickly I got into this book. Sometimes fantasy takes me a little while to settle into, but that wasn't the case here. I just fell into the story. I'd sit down thinking I was only going to read a chapter or two, and before I knew it, hours had gone by.
I loved that the story takes place between Manhattan and Threllwood. They were two completely different worlds. Threllwood was my favorite. Christine described it in a way that made it easy to picture everything, and I didn't want to leave once Addie arrived there. The descriptions of the forest and the smells I just loved.

I loved this book! Kingdom of the Owl told such an incredible story that felt fresh and unique. It’s a portal fantasy with immersive world building and fantastic characters. Once I started this book, I was hooked and didn’t want to put it down!
Our FMC, Addie, was so relatable. She’s smart, sassy, and easy to root for. I loved her character growth and how she starts out unsure of herself, but by the end, she finds her confidence. It really felt like we were experiencing the journey through Threllwood alongside her. The Druid elemental magic was so interesting, and I enjoyed discovering more about it with Addie.
Our MMC, Gwilym (or Will), is a tall, dark, and broody Commander to the Queen. Like Addie, I was instantly drawn to him and wanted to know more. I loved watching his relationship with Addie evolve from captor and captive into something much deeper. He struggles between his loyalty to the Queen and his growing feelings for Addie. The banter, tension, and chemistry between them were undeniable, and I loved when they finally gave in to their attraction.
The last few chapters were action packed and had me in a chokehold. I loved that we finally got a chapter from Will’s POV at the end. It was bittersweet and left me wanting so much more! I can’t wait to see where this story goes in the next book.

I completely devoured this book. Inhaled it. Could not put it down. Finished it in less than 24 hrs. Sacrificed sleep and have zero regrets. It was sooo good.
I love Christine’s writing so much. She is so descriptive in describing everything. The world building was phenomenal! She uses so many different colors, coral, blues, purples, I could visualize myself in every single place. I love when an author can transport you into their book with descriptions.
The FMC and MMC…I love Addie and Will so much. Addie’s character really resonates with me. The anxiety, the desire to do something that is just for her, not for other people. Fear of not being enough. In the beginning of the story I felt sorry for her but her character grew in the most beautiful way. She became strong, brave, and started putting her feelings first. And Will, I love him! The banter between them was great and the way their relationship grew was perfection. The timing of the growth I loved. It wasn’t instant but they both knew something was there between them. The spice happened at just the right time, and it was so good. 🔥
The magic and plot of this story was so unique. The time traveling, her initially being in New York but then ending up in a Kingdom worlds away. It was just brilliant. The side characters stood out as well which I always have an appreciation for.
