The Billionaire’s Heart by Nancy Adams

Spoilers!

What's it all about?
When Katelynn graduates with her Master’s Degree she realizes that the real world isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when it comes to a job. When she sees a new store in town is hiring she immediately goes to apply. Once she is hired and meets her trainee, Nathanael Simmons, the son of the companies owner, she knows things can’t get much better. This is the story of Katelynn and Nate and how they start their future.

The Best Parts:
--------------------------------------

The Worst Parts:
So I’m a horrible horrible person that has absolutely nothing good to say about this story. I thought when I started it that the way it was written would change, but no. About 90% of this story is told to the reader, and the way that it was told is so childish. I understand that Katelynn is 22, but you don’t need to write it like a 22 year old with a bunch of exclamation point after almost every sentence. I felt stupid for reading some of this. There is hardly any actual scenes where you see the characters do anything. It is quite a bore to read when something is written like that. Not to mention there is an entire chapters where Nate is training Katelynn and the entire time she is stating what Nate has trained her for each position in her new job. Spoiler alert, no one cares! We want the relationship, not the mechanics of what is happening. Also the relationship between Nate and Katelynn is laughable. His declaration to her and saying that he has loved her for weeks, and he having loved him, when nothing has happened, what?! How old is the guy even? He acts like he is also a teenager, but he’s not, he’s an adult. I had the same feeling when they confided in each other that they were both virgin’s, I’m totally fine with this being this way, but by all means the way they told each other I couldn’t take either of them seriously. That brings me to another point, the dialogue was so fake. People don’t talk like that, and everything felt so forced. One last thing - this needed to be proofread a few more times, lots of grammatical errors.

Final thoughts:
I feel like this story could have been good if the author had taken the time to write the story and not just summarize it. I will not be reading any more to this series because I don’t care to see where this relationship goes. Oh and the cover for this book is one you should change; it is basically the polar opposite of what the story is about - I thought I was getting a hot steamy bad boy romance and what I got was a teeny bopper happily ever after story.

A forgettable read for me. There was a lot of inner dialogue...inner babble. It was hard for me to connect with the characters since most it did not allow me as the reader to come up with my own conclusions. I was told everything or the characters went to eat. Also, it felt like the story was more about the opening of the store than about the hero and heroine.

I cruised through the story patiently, but what popped out (pun intended) is one dimensional characters. It's 90 percent tell. The reader isn't given an opportunity to sink their teeth into the hero and heroine. There was little mention of any attraction until the end of KK's training and then it's dumped on the reader, and within a couple pages it's love. Throw in a few teasers to "show" these two both are professionals but they're interested in each other. The plot dawdled on with no transition from beginning to middle. I don't mind cliff hangers, but I would have loved to have seen an interesting catalyst that puts these two on a one way track to forever, instead there was balance sheets, schedules and the mundane points of running a store. There's numerous spots for conflict, but none were taken. He's a good looking guy, the single girls int he store would have tripped over themselves to put them in in his good graces. The heroine describes herself as never having a second date. Why does this guy fall in love with her? What makes the reader want to keep reading? Sweet romance, which this is (meaning no sex) has a large following, but a twenty-eight-year-old hot looking man who was once a Marine and still has his virginity? That is hard to swallow.

It seems the latest trend is to write novella size stories that are not complete, sell them for full size story prices and then make you buy 5 more "pieces" of the story. Not cool!

This book was not what I expected. From the title, cover image, and blurb, I thought I was going to read a steamy romance between an employee and her rich, handsome boss. If that's what you're looking for and you're reading this review, please be forewarned. Unlike most billionaire romance novels, there is no heat in this book.

This feels like a Young Adult novel. I seem to be picking a lot of those this year. :( The heroine is a 22 year-old virgin who recently graduated from college with a useless degree. We learn much later in the book, the hero is also saving himself for marriage. . . wasn't looking for a Christian romance. The son of a wealthy man, Nate is being prepared to take over his father's empire. They're both nice people- a bit too vanilla and sweet at times. I prefer my billionaires to be Alpha Males (at least 30) with a seductive edge. I'm sure there are many young women who will swoon over Nate. I couldn't. He's still wet behind the ears.

The plot moved along a bit faster than it needed to. In some places, it felt rushed. The story ends with a CLIFFHANGER when Nate has to fly home after his father has a heart attack. I won't be reading the next installment in this series. I'm going to search for a romance novel with more mature characters.

This was an ok book, but it dragged on for a very long time. It was more about Katelynn learning to run Nate's store than about their relationship. How many times do I have to read that she was learning new things & he just sat back and let things happen & then she stepped in for so-and-so because they had an appointment and she did that because she wanted to learn the jobs of the store? It was very monotonous. The end got a little bit better, but I still found it to be quite dull and dry. I will not be continuing with the series.
The relationship between the two was very sweet, but it wasn't enough to redeem this book in my mind.

I listened to the audio therefore I have no complaints with typos. Come on! I wish more audio books would be released that are more affordable. I listen as I work, but not out of necessity. I have a sister who is legally blind and does not have a choice. For the sight impaired, being able to listen to books gives them part of their life back. This was the first time I have read anything by Nancy Adams. I thought it was Excellent! The story brought back memories and the feelings that are incurred when falling in love. Thank you for this sweet love story. Yes I am going to read the rest in this series.

This may be good, but....

A young girl fresh out of college and realizing she took a dead end major, applies for a job in a store opening soon. This story starts off like she is telling her story of life, but it moves slower than molasses in January. There's no spark or a yearning to turn the page. At the beginning of chapter 3 she's met the owner's son, being taught her new job requirements and I just couldn't continue feeling like I was being drugged along. This didn't feel like an escape, rather a window into a store clerk's daily itinerary. Boring 🧐

I enjoyed this book.

I liked the storyline and the characters. There was nothing that I disliked. I chose to rate this 5 stars because I really liked reading this book and I want to continue reading the rest of this series and I want to read other books by this author in the future.

I enjoyed this romance, only it's part of a series and the story is not finished. I've received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4.5* rating and hope to get the other books in the series. It's a pretty much sweet story but the problems are just starting. Great if you can get all the books in the series.

So far on chapter 3 and this book seems to be written by a grade schooler. The writing is very very simplistic.

I've read the reviews here now and since there are no steamy scenes this will be added to the didn't finish shelf.

Teaser

Great characters, that the is basically telling the read their story and that the store is exactly how they hire and decide to put each person into a position and train is exactly like where I worked. But it is left you hanging for the next book.

Story of a girl applying for her first job and she is picked to be manager of a new store opening up. Interesting but improbable story. It is very short and continues in series of other books.

Cute little story. A bit interesting even though it about running a retail empire. Like the characters but they need to stand out a bit more.
