My love for these shows began with my Grandmom Louise, and this book serves as a heartfelt tribute to her memory—she was the primary reason I became interested in the genre, and our routine of watching these programs together remains one of my most cherished connections.
I began this writing journey in 2024 while caring for my grandfather, who lived with dementia. While he wasn’t the nicest person to be around, the experience provided me with a profound sense of purpose—a purpose that evolved into a deep passion for documenting this hobby, or "this thing of ours," in the context of the classic game show world.
Growing up on Game Show Network and BUZZR reruns, I’m not a historian—just a fan presenting decades-old episodes to my generation, which is exactly what I hope this book will accomplish.

I want to show you how modern television, especially "reality" TV, continues to borrow from these legends.
