Everyone knows about Capt. Vikram Batra, the war hero from the 1999 Kargil war. But this book brings to life Vikram Batra, the person, as seen from his identical twin’s perspective. It’s an incredible story - twins, war, a love story, a charming hero, and oodles of patriotism - and it’s all true. The book explores the twins’ student lives and the final important months leading up to the war. It’s well-written and engaging. It does however, seem a little rushed and devoid of detail. There was scope to go deeper. It would have also been interesting to learn more about Vishal Batra’s life.

“Aye mere watan ke logo, zara aankh mein bharlo paani, jo shaheed hue hay unki, zara yaad karo qurbani”, this song was playing in my mind while I was reading about the martyrdom of Param Vir Chakra Captain Vikram Batra. The movie ‘Shershaah’ failed to bring tears in my eyes, but this book did not!
This book is written by his twin brother, Vishal Batra, sharing memories spent with him. But author also researched about Vikram’s life when he was not nearby him, making this book a biography, not just a memoire. Vikram’s maternal grandfather served the army, and by visiting his house, Vikram and Vishal became interested to join the army. They brought up completely in a military environment, despite their parents were teachers.
I also dreamt about being an army man, but in 2017, this dream collapsed as my eyesight was caught myopic. In 2020, I came to know about Captain Vikram Batra in Sudhir Chaudhary’s DNA TV show. From that time, I was very curious to know more about Captain Vikram Batra.
I think this book is a must read for every patriotic Indian. But one thing I did not liked in this book that author has not condemned cheating in exams after described how they did it! That’s why I deducted 1 Point from review. But I am requesting everyone to read it, especially the supporters of those greedy political leaders who abuse army-men just for narrow political goals. Jai Maa Bhaarati!

This is a love letter etched in time. It is the voice of one brother calling out to another - through childhood, youth and the lost veil of years, across death itself. It grasps into universal infinity. It will leave your heart full. 🌌

The story of Captain Vikram Batra is told in a way that echoes the dignity and upright spirit of the Indian Army. It has a sincere love and respect for the Armed Forces that comes across on every page. Being an Army officer's daughter myself, I connected to this story deeply.

The bond of the twin brothers is crystallised within this book, just as much as Captain Vikram's courage is. It has left me amazed and deeply moved. Read this book! It is worth every minute. 💖

Of course we have read this story over and over again, but I had to read it because it came from someone who's his twin - almost a first person account, almost an autobiography.

The way the book is written is much matter and no fluff, very direct and gets heavy right where you expect it to be. The sequences of action described are perfectly worded and got my tears swelling.. almost.

Very very good book, thanks to the authors for writing this. I cannot imagine how much he would have suffered to get this book into our hands.

So, Vishal - Ye Dil Maange More!

A deeply poignant and moving tribute to a soldier by his look-alike twin brother in the form of memories from childhood, school days, college days and other states of line. Memories that will make the reader sad, make him laugh and most importantly make him sit and stare into blankness in utter awe.
A well written book on a person who became a rockstar and a sensation for the people who saw the Kargil conflict unfold in the summers of 1999.
Hero for us, legend for those born after the conflict.

I am always in awe reading about great personalities from all walks of life. Inspiring and aspiring.. it talks about dreams perseverance, empathy, love for nation, love for a brother, above all a great soul.
