Taxes are one of those subjects that can become confusing very quickly, so I appreciated how much information was broken down into language that was fairly easy to understand. There were several strategies discussed that I was familiar with, but also quite a few things that made me realize how much the average person may overlook when it comes to taxes.
I especially liked that it covers different situations rather than focusing only on business owners or wealthy investors. There is information for W-2 employees, retirement planning, investments, side businesses, and real estate, along with explanations of deductions and tax-advantaged accounts. The sections on Roth versus Traditional accounts and HSAs were particularly useful.
Another thing I appreciated was the emphasis on legally reducing taxes through planning rather than making unrealistic promises about simply paying nothing. The information about keeping good records, dealing with IRS correspondence, and knowing when professional guidance is needed also made it feel more practical.
There is a lot of information here, so I would consider this more of a resource to return to than something you read once and remember every detail. Overall, it was informative, well organized, and a helpful starting point for understanding how better tax planning can potentially help you keep more of what you earn.

This book does a great job of explaining taxes in plain English without making the topic feel overwhelming. I liked that it doesn't just explain the rules but also shows why they matter with practical examples and real-world scenarios.
The chapters are well organized, covering everything from deductions and tax credits to retirement accounts, investing, business structures, and audit preparation. Even if you already know a little about taxes, there's a good chance you'll learn strategies you weren't using.
A solid resource for anyone who wants to make smarter financial decisions and better understand how the tax system works.

August 27, 2026It’s a very useful and up-to-date book
There are many books on how to earn extra income and how to invest in various opportunities, such as the stock market or real estate. But this book is different—it focuses not on how to make money, but on how not to lose it, and this is even more important than the former, because not everyone can afford to invest, but everyone can learn to pay their taxes more intelligently. I love that there are many examples covering different economic levels so you can find the one that most closely matches your personal situation.

This book was excellent at explaining how taxes work and how you can do basic things to help with your tax burden. It was especially insightful as a business owner. As a owner who has been feeling the need to shift some of our tax practices and wanting to look into different preparing tactics alongside our financial advisor I found this to be extremely insightful and helpful in helping me determine my next steps in our plan. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about taxes and how they work and also for getting beginner knowledge on investing.

Honestly... I was kind of hoping for a bit more with this one. Don't get me wrong, it's ok if you're completely new to the topic and just need a basic starting point. But, you know, it feels pretty elementary. The "wealth strategies" it talks about basically just boil down to setting up an entity and doing some estate planning... and that’s about it. Nothing really new here. Honestly, it was a bit of a disappointment for me.

July 25, 2026I've filed my own taxes for years, and I wish I had read this book (or one like it) years ago. I found several things I did that were costing me money. I also found a lot of things I was not doing that I should have been doing. The information in the book was presented in a way that was easy to understand. And I also found it easy to look things up. I wasn't able to pay zero taxes as the title implied, but I sure found ways to pay fewer taxes.

Makes Tax Planning Much Easier to Understand
A useful guide for anyone who finds the US tax system confusing and wants to understand what options are actually available to them. It covers a lot, but explains things in a straightforward way without assuming too much prior knowledge. I particularly liked the practical checklists and action plan, which make it easier to work out what might be relevant to your own situation and what to discuss with a tax professional.

I've been impressed for the amount of useful info provided in "Pay Zero Taxes" as a compilation for organizing the finances of a home and a business to zero out in the most effective way. The breakdowns are reasonable and easy to apply.

This is decent for beginners. The assessment tests are a nice touch. This is more targeted towards more complex tax situations or for those with a high net worth looking to preserve wealth. However, for most middle-income people, this might be a bit too much but is still decent advice overall.

A comprehensive useful guide to understanding taxes
The sections on common tax mistakes, investing, side businesses, real estate, audits and choosing a tax professional make it useful for people at very different stages financially. I particularly liked the assessment sections and the 30-day action plan, because they turn the information into something practical rather than leaving it as theory.
