Summary
I absolutely loved Vyk’s writing once again. The banter, witty humor, and undeniable chemistry leapt off the pages. While the characters initially seemed like complete opposites, I realised they were more suited to each other than I first thought. Kenzy was a standout for me, smart, talkative, and learning her worth beyond people-pleasing. Crue was the perfect broody book boyfriend. This swoon-worthy read completely captured me, and had me giggling at their antics and I devoured every page. Perfect book to buddy read poolside with my bestie @bittersweet_chapters_aus and a glass of wine. 💛

💛Again I just love Vyk’s writing. The banter, witty comments and the passion always shine through.
💛These characters seem like opposites but I came to realisation that maybe they are more alike than I first thought.
💛I absolutely loved Kenzy’s character, she is smart, talkative and on a journey to not be a people pleaser. Learning that she has a lot to offer.
💛Crue is the perfect MMC who is stoic, broody and just deeply attractive(wink wink)
💛This book was absolutely swoon worthy and the perfect book to buddy read with my bestie by my pool with a wine.

💛Norm and his Hooligans definitely stole the show s well
Words that linger
💬 God, she was perfect. Under any light, in any room, she was breathtaking, and I had to physically stop myself from telling her as much.
💬 Mackenzie Carmen was under my skin, borrowed so deeply, no matter how many ways I tried to push it from my mind, I never quite could. She was the crack in my armor. My one weakness, and she was none the wiser of the power she held.
💬 You look perfect, and you’ll be perfect, because you are perfect.
💬Since meeting her, I liked having someone who filled the spaces I couldn’t. It was like, without ever realising, she was the noise that made my silence feel complete.
💬Hook, line and sinker, McKenzie Carmen had me eating from the palm of her hand. The same palm I kissed on, so many occasions because I didn’t know how else to show her, she held me captive in that space and had done so for three years.

We love Angry Daddy!
Where do I even start?! I loved this, I loved all of this. I’ve been have the worst luck recently with finally picking up a book and being bored as f@$k, and then I am blessed with a copy of Close Proximity and it has restored all faith I have in bending able to enjoy a book!
Vyk Peters is a freaking master of words. There is not one single thing she has written that I haven’t completely devoured.
And I think we need to take a moment for Angry Daddy.. because he is beautiful and I’m obsessed.
Close proximity has also delivered one of my favourite interactions ever:
He looked at me then properly for what felt like the first time. His gaze scanning my face as his eyes narrowed in assessment. "Are you quoting Eminem?"
"Of course," I answered, rubbing my sternum to relieve the sudden bout of heartburn searing a hole through my chest.
Like come on, that had been cackling hahahaha

We follow the story of Mackenzie and Crue.
Mackenzie is a ray of sunshine, who aims to please and gives me golden retriever vibes whereas Crue is a man with a hard and masked exterior, who despite his feelings keeps his cards close to his chest. There’s perfect levels of banter, sass and spice and a really beautiful story behind it all.
The Village hooligans are an absolute vibe and reading a book with my favourite rap artists lyrics in it was not on my 2026 bingo card, but man am I here for it!
I will forever pick up any book that Vyk writes, because at this point I’m convinced she can do no wrong 🫶🏼

Vyk you are the queen of these romances. They just hit every time. Your writing style is just so easy to read and follow and your characters are everything. Crüe was the epitome of golden retriever broody book boyfriend and Kenz was the people pleaser trying to find her place in the world. Together their banter, their throw away comments and their chemistry was 🔥.
The Village hooligans made me see into the future with my bestie @enchanted and what mischief we would get up to. Their addition to the book was amazing and had had us giggling.
Vyk is one of those writers that I know I will always have a good time with. I never wanted this to end but devoured in 1 sitting.

A great grumpy/ sunshine book. Crüe is a broody mmc and Mackenzie is just sunshine who loves to please everybody before herself.
It’s friends to lovers but they have a crush on each other since they meet but never talk about it. Crüe is protective of Mackenzie with always waiting for her, he really is a golden retriever on the inside.
Crues friends the hooligans are hilarious and I love their banter in the book.
The part where they have to find a hotel cause of a storm 🤌
