Despite the utterly ridiculous covers, this has been one of the best series of romances I have ever read and that means out of literally thousands of trashy romances they stand out. The writing is excellent, well worded, emotional, grounded in real world things that all of us face...fears, heartbreak, communication, mistakes, growing love, bravery, and a little passion woven in because that is real too.

My only lament is that every time I start a new one I promise myself that I will savor it, take time and then I find myself doing absolutely nothing but devouring in record time because I want to immerse myself fully in their story.

Absolute yes! In fact, I think I may have to re-read them because I am sure I missed things in my gluttony.

This is heavy going. I thought I was at about 60% but turned kindle location on and it was 20%! Managed to 30%

There's a lot of introspection, not enough talking. She's escaping an abusive relationship, he's grieving a lost son. Aside from job competency I'm not seeing any chemistry or reason for them to get together. Their issues out weigh everything. Any moments are with the kid Asher, not between the adults.

I was very put off by the town busy body telling Zoe about Jamie's past and his loss. That's deeply personal 'gossip' however benign the intention. Also how does she know? It was before he moved there and he's only told one person. It was this made me quit.

Grumpy & Sunshine romance

A Small-town heartfelt romance, with a woman wanting to start a new life with her son, a grumpy vet who is dealing with grief, second chances, a small friendly town, chemistry, love and a HEA.

Having escaped an abusive relationship Zoe takes her son to a small mountain looking for a new start. But it's not made easy by her grumpy new boss, though the more time they spend together the more they find themselves fighting the attraction, particularly when her son starts growing attached to him.

A hundred ordinary places.

A broken, grieving MMC. A MFC trying to find herself after a controlling marriage.
Jamie lost his 8 year old son to drowning 5 years ago and has since been divorced twice. His grief has caused him to believe that everyone one he loves will leave. That he is the problem. Zoe just wants safety and a good life for herself and her son. Neither expected to find what they needed in the other. Add in a cast of interesting towns people and some wacky animals and you have a strong storyline that takes you beyond the sadness and grief that runs throughout the book. My only complaint is that there were so many metaphors and some very long sentences.

Losses & Coping, fears never leaving

What a storyline. Just “ listening” to conversations between the son and adults- the world and trying to understand the what & whys of living in this world, then his logic in rules of the game he made up, Priceless. Then the adults- understanding what each separately have lived through- one determined together through it to start new life to find true love , the other never forgiving selves for losses and fearing bringing others in to live… the tears flowed and multiple Kleenexes required.

It's rare that I rate or even mention the romance novels I read. For the most part they are mindless reading that I blow through without thought. This was not one of them. This may be one of the best romance novels I have ever read. I honestly had a tough time getting through it due to the subject matter. I rarely read anything where children, women, or animals are hurt. This was a heart-wrenching, hear-warming well written romance novel. It was an emotional read, and yet I could not stop reading it.

This book is very well written, with a beautiful plot. It encompasses the real emotions involved in grief and guilt, and teaches so much about Surviving and progressing vin life after a loss.

Heart wrenching

Heart wrenching story about how much personal demons can cost in a relationship. Heart breaking and honest. The son stole the show.

grumpy vet

The story line was a good one and very enjoyable to read. However the constant similes was a bit much.

Processing grief is a huge part of this. The writing style is interesting and not often used in current romance novels.

Giving Him a Reason to Live Again -
Jamie was just surviving on a daily basis whilst he dealt with his grief, which made the walls around his heart really high and frozen. Zoe on the other hand was looking to start a new life with her son after leaving an abusive relationship and then having to find a way to work with her grumpy boss. Zoe and Jamie soon found themselves spending time together, but he struggled with her son’s growing attachment to him, because of a painful experience in his past.

However, Zoe and Jamie’s attraction for each other grew, as they spent time together inside and outside the office, his insecurities kept getting in his way to getting happiness. Unfortunately, not long after Zoe and Jamie settled into their new relationship, an incident occurred involving her son, which led to him blaming himself and reigniting of his grief.

Luckily, Zoe was able give him the kick up the backside Jamie needed to get him back on track, so they could work towards the future they deserved. The story pulled on my heart strings from the beginning and took me on an emotional rollercoaster as I eagerly turned the pages. The story kept my interest all the way through to the end and left me looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Book 7 of Small Town Grumpy Sunshine

'Grumpy Veterinarian’s Second Chances is a steamy standalone small-town romance with forced proximity, a single mom who saves herself, a heartbroken grump who falls hard, a fierce found family, a scene-stealing rescue dog, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after. No cheating. No cliffhangers.'

The characters were very appealing and likeable and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

This was an enjoyable emotional romance story I'd read. Zoe with her son Asher are driving down the road on a raining night toward Pinewood Ridge when she hit a dog that ran in front of her car and a truck pulled over to help. Dr. Jamie Peterson a vet takes them and the dog to his clinic. While tending the dog Jamie noticed that she knew what to do and hired her as his technician. Zoe is starting anew after leaving her abusive husband. Can she learn to trust again? Can Jamie let his guard down after believing he destroys those who love him? Our characters were wonderful and their drama relatable in this engaging story that I'd received a copy and volunteer to read and review.

I found this to be a beautiful but very emotional and heavy book to read. It is a story about starting over after the loss of a child, making the choice and taking the step to leave an abusive relationship, recovering from it, starting over, and daring to take the chance and open yourself up to love again. A beautiful story that I think you can really immerse yourself in, or perhaps have experienced something similar yourself.

Book seven of "Small Town Grumpy Sunshine". The most important advice I can offer about this book is to remember to hydrate and to have plenty of tissues handy. You'll figure it out. Zoe and her young son arrive in Pinewood Ridge in a rain storm. A dog runs out in front of her vehicle and the collision sends it into the ditch. Out of nowhere, a man in a truck stops and gathers up the dog, tells Zoe and Asher to get in and they all end up at his vet clinic. Without a thought, Zoe jumps in and assists Dr. Jamie Peterson set the dog's injured limbs. He offers her a job before he has a chance to second guess himself, so she accepts. Zoe is rebuilding after a marriage to a man whose purpose was to keep her small. Jamie is the most closed off individual she's ever met and has ghosts who haunt him. A damn fine book !!!

This was a beautiful and emotional story about losing a child, leaving an abusive relationship, and starting over again. Opening your heart to a second chance love is never easy. This book was so heartfelt and sweet. I loved seeing the main characters find loved after being willing to give it a chance again.,

This story has the depth of loosing a child, leaving an abusive relationship and starting over, and choosing to try to love again despite feeling you don't deserve love.
It's a heavier book to read; no light, fluffy, feel-good stroy here. But it is very good book.
