One of my favourite instalments of this series every, I think (and I have read nearly all!) It offers a great variety of truly excellent stories in terms of themes, execution and length.

Favourite entries: "Omphale" by Théophile Gautier, "Véra" by Villiers de l'Isle-Adam, "The Seprent Flower" by Judith Gautier, "Night and Silence" by Maurice Level (could easily do the awards cycle as horror today), "The House" by Andrew Maurois, "The Other Hand" by George Langelaan, "Wings in the Night" by Nathalie Henneberg, and "Lullaby for a Lost World" by Aliette de Bodard

Danse Macabre is another edition to the growing British Library of the Weird collection. The stories range from the strange to the very weird. It took me a while to get through the stories but enjoyed most of them.
