Phantom Forever is a dark, seductive, and addictive paranormal romance that takes inspiration from The Phantom of the Opera and turns it into something supernatural, dangerous, and deliciously obsessive. As the second book in Genavie Castle’s Midway Mystics collection, Phury, Calista, and Raife’s story is filled with secrets, murder, complicated history, supernatural abilities, and two possessive men who would go to extreme lengths for the woman they love.
Calista arrives in Port Midway desperate to disappear, carrying a past and secrets that could destroy the new life she is trying to build. She is guarded and broken, but there is also a strength and darkness to her that made her really interesting to follow.
Then she finds herself drawn into Eamon Phury’s world.
Phury was easily one of my favourite parts of this book. He is unpredictable, possessive, damaged, and completely fascinating. He rules the Sovereign Theater from the shadows, hiding behind his mask and carrying years of anger from being treated like a monster. Beneath all of that rage, though, is an incredibly lonely man who wants someone to see him and choose him anyway.
Calista does exactly that, and their connection is intense. I loved watching her slowly see beyond the mask and discover the man underneath. Phury’s obsession with protecting her quickly becomes all consuming, and there is absolutely no doubt he would destroy anyone who tried to hurt her.
Things become even more complicated when Raife Hannifin returns.
Raife is a supernatural detective, Phury’s former best friend, and Calista’s first love. His history with both of them adds so much tension to the story, especially as he investigates a murder that may lead directly back to the two people he cares about most.
I really enjoyed the contrast between Phury and Raife. Phury is chaotic, emotional, and obsessive, while Raife tries to hold onto logic, responsibility, and duty. Despite their differences, they are both fiercely protective of Calista, which makes the why choose dynamic messy, emotional, and incredibly entertaining.
The mystery surrounding Calista’s past also kept me interested, with plenty of secrets and twists along the way. I especially liked that Calista was not simply a heroine waiting to be rescued. She has her own darkness, mistakes, and difficult choices to face.
Phantom Forever delivers supernatural mystery, obsessive romance, morally gray characters, jealousy, danger, and plenty of chemistry. Phury absolutely embraces the dangerous masked hero role, Calista is far more complicated than she first appears, and Raife adds another layer of emotion and tension to an already addictive story.
Another really enjoyable addition to the Midway Mystics collection.

Firstly, thank you for the ARC. I’m indeed excited to read this book since Phantom of the Opera is my all time favourite since I was a kid, and given this book is a retelling and inspired heavily from that, of course I’m eager to read it.
Plot wise, it’s overall good - the growth and pace are fine, nicely match with the whole storyline, and I like the creativity that been inserted throughout the plot so readers can still get the storyline originality side by side with the original story inspiration, it’s entertaining and makes sense with the whole storyline as well, so good job with that!
There’s only several things, that makes me feel just like some tiny bumps upon reading, which the minor repetitive parts on some scenes that could’ve make the whole thing feels meh if the repetition keep on happening, but good thing that it doesn’t, glad on that. Same with some bits on the writing - mostly it’s overall good, yet just that I came across some parts tweaking towards meh, but quickly been recovered back and hooked me again, as well as some humorous parts, so all came out good. The ending feels a bit rushed, but not bad, actually. Hence not that big of a deal.
Characters wise, I like the variety and how good each ones been portrayed and stay with their own characteristics. Again, for me, the creativity that been shown in threading all these characters into the story are much appreciated. So, this is… freaking awesome! It’s such a unique spin on Phantom of the Opera that’s centered around a town full of magic and paranormal creatures and I love how tied to the sunrise and his sentient secret lair Eamon is. His obsession with his siren, Callista, is both the darkest parts of love with how possessive he is and really cute with all the little notes they exchange and I think the way his college best friends were brought in and his and Callista’s obsessive love turned into an obsessive throuple with his very best friend was not only sexy and really touching but also done so well.
This entire read encapsulates perfectly what years of bullying and shattered hopes have done to Eamon’s trust and self-worth, Callista’s burning need for him and the way she chooses him is gorgeous and soothes that part of you that desperately needs the phantom to be chosen, while the throuple aspect marks Eamon’s growth, how much he loves his siren, and how much loving her has allowed him to open his heart to the friends who stood by him through college and everything after, particularly his closest bestie Raife, who is the third in the relationship. And the magic is amazing! How appropriate that the obsessed phantom of a music house falls for and obsessives over an actual siren and that his friends run the gamut of paranormal species, with Raife being a tracker who is secretly far more and the thing that helps save Eamon’s life. Also props to Genavie Castle for the way the sunrise scene after the huge fire was written, it’s gut wrenching and beautiful and the huge climatic piece that seals the deal on making this retelling of Phantom of the Opera just as outstanding as the original.

I went into this knowing it was a Phantom of the Opera retelling, but I loved the paranormal twist and how dark the story got.
Phury was my favorite. He is possessive, obsessive, completely unpredictable, and honestly a little crazy, but there is also so much hurt underneath all of that. I liked watching Calista slowly get past his mask and see who he really was. Their relationship was intense and messy, but in the best way.
The dynamic between Phury and Raife. They are so different, but they are both protective of Calista in their own ways. Adding Raife and all of their history into the story made everything so much more complicated and kept the tension going.

Phantom of the Opera retelling? As a musical theater fan this was an enthusiastic sign me up, and whoo am I glad I did! I could not stop reading this book, much to the detriment of my sleep pattern.

Calista is a breath of fresh air FMC. I really enjoyed that she was a strong woman that had her own past and demons to deal with. Review: I mean you had me at Phantom of the Opera. The romance was toxic and I was living for it! When I could get to the book around my job and my son, I could not put it down. I wanted to read and find out what was happening between Calista, Phury, and Raife. Oh and don’t forget the spice and obsession! I loved her first book and she didn’t disappoint me in this second one. I truly wish I could read this again for the first time. I am sad to be done, I guess I have to find another book by this author.

Phantom Forever (Midway Mystics Collection Book 2) by Genavie Castle ARC Review
First Genavie gave us a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde twist, now she is giving us a Phantom of the Opera twist!!! As always, the flow of the storyline was perfect, kept me wanting to keep reading and it was hard to put down at times. I love how she incorporated characters from book 1 into this story line and cannot wait until she blesses us with book 3!

A paranormal Phantom of the Opera retelling? Say less! Retellings are my favorite and I love Phantom so of course I had to read this one! Genavie did so good with this! It hooked me from the start and I ate it up! I cant rave about this enough!

I’d like to first start off by saying I never seen phantom of the opera but have heard about it growing up (I’m in my 20’s lol)
But Phantom Forever was honestly a really great retelling and I thoroughly enjoyed this. I love all things supernatural, spice, touch her and die, literally my favorite things in books.

4.5 stars, Phantom of the Opera retelling but as a why choose paranormal. I have to be honest and say, I've never actually seen the Phantom of the Opera but I really enjoyed this story. Read your triggers

You’ve got the FMC Calista and the 2 MMCs Phury and Raife.
Calista is desperate to leave behind a past full of secrets and problems, and start to rebuild a new life for herself. She is brought into Phury’s world, where he rules in the shadows of the Sovereign Theatre, because he’s always been treated like a monster. They come together and she begins to love this lonely man who only wants to be seen for who he is, not what he looks like.
Raife then gets thrown into the mix, where he was Phury’s former best friend and Calista’s first taste of love. He cares for these people more than we know, but tension starts to build when he starts trying to solve a murder that ultimately starts leading back to Calista and Phury.
This story ultimately proves to be a why choose scenario because both men are emotional, chaotic and protective of Calista. It’s so sweet and captivating that I had a hard time putting the book away when my real life duties came into play. I love how Genavie took a classic story and put this spin on it, which draws you in more and more!!
I’d say check your triggers and make sure that spice, paranormal and supernatural powers, touch her and 💀, and found family ties are up your alley!!

Honestly I just consumed this book. It was not one I was expecting to love as much as I did. The story was told exendingly well and in a way that had my brain loving everything about it. It is definitely a book i would recommend to anyone that wanted a good retelling.
