I went into Wrong Door completely blind, and I highly recommend reading it that way!

In just 48 pages, Nycole B. delivers a psychological horror novella packed with suspense, unsettling atmosphere, and twists that kept me questioning what was real right alongside the main character.

What begins as a simple robbery quickly spirals into something far more disturbing. Every new revelation raised the stakes, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what was really happening.

If you enjoy psychological horror that plays with your mind more than your stomach, this is a quick, creepy read that’s well worth your time. This is a must-read that showcases exactly why I love supporting and discovering talented indie authors.

The Vibes:

* Pacing: Fast, read-in-one-sitting
* Mood: Creepy, suspenseful, mind-bending
* Key Elements: Psychological horror, indie author, robbery
gone wrong

Don’t ask me what I read because I still don’t know and yes I’m going to read something else from this authors catalogue because of that fact, alone. All I know is some wild and crazy shit going on in this damn book. I don’t know what happened. The characters were doing a lot together at times yeah the end. mind you I read this in an hour.

Like many other reviewers said, when I finished this book I too did not know what I just read. The idea seemed to be there for something more when it came to living in your truth and also not being taken advantage of; however, the delivery seemed to be convoluted. There was a lot going on but it didn't really seem to tie together that well to me to really get to the bones of the story.

Sooooooo ummmm this was a weird book lol

I’m your spoiler girl spoili by books that I read for those who are bored but wanna know what happens. Alright so here we go

Rochelle is tagging along with her boyfriend Tevyn and his friend Rodney on a heist of an old man name Mr. Rodger’s but as they are, Rochelle sees the house is changing before her eyes, the walls, decor, all of that is changing and in one change she’s dating Rodney instead of Tevyn after falling down the steps. But then it switches again and her and Rodney find Tevyn acting like Lil Nas X on a pole and he starts to makeout with Rodney. But this time, it’s real, Rodney and Tevyn have been involved for a few times, Tevyn says it was once or twice but Rodney is very much in love with him and swears Tevyn feels the same especially after Rodney offed Tevyns baby mama for him so they could be together. We also find out Rodney 🍇 Rochelle and Tevyn knew about it. Rochelle is heating all of this as well as being “haunted” by Mrs Rodger’s asking for her things. It then switches again to hearing the guys getting shot behind a closed door that Mrs Rodger deemed “the wrong door” after Mrs Rodger’s gives Rochelle a pearl necklace and tells her “time to move on”, we then switch AGAIN to the three back at the beginning in the car about to go inside the house when Rochelle airs all the tea out, she confronts Rodney about what he did to her which he at first denies but then admits, She calls out Tevyn about the murder of his baby mama before she offs both of them. And then it ends with her in a institution where she was diagnosed as someone with hallucinations and hearing voices that she believes it a misdiagnosis.

And that’s Wrong Door

If you read it what do you think? I think it was ok but there was a part when the two men are arguing but the names changes a lot first Rodney is yelling about how they did it only twice and it meant nothing and then Tevyn saying it meant more but then Rodney is now saying he loves him and wants more but he was just saying it was one time? Like do these authors not have editiors?

Anyways I’m your spoiler girl spoiling books that I read since people on here don’t know how to do that correctly. Until next time

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!! 😭😂 What in the ENTIRE world did I just read?!Y'all...This book is less than 50 pages, but somehow it took me on a ride I was absolutely NOT prepared for. I felt like I had wandered straight into the Twilight Zone because...What happened?! Why was there a pole?! And BABY...Why was that man throwing pearls?! 😂😂😂 Listen...I don't even want to tell y'all too much because this is one of those stories where the less you know, the better. Sometimes you pick up a short read expecting one thing, and before you know it, the author has you sitting there staring at the wall trying to piece together everything that just happened. That's exactly what Nycole B. did to me. Now, I will say this...Read the trigger warnings. Seriously. Don't skip over them thinking, "Oh, it's only 50 pages."Or do, who am I to tell you what to do! By the time I got to the end, I had more questions than answers, but I also couldn't stop thinking about it. And honestly, I think that's exactly what the author intended. If you're looking for something quick, different, and guaranteed to have you texting your book friends talking about, "Girl...WHAT did I just read?" 😂 Go ahead and pick up Wrong Door.
Just be prepared...Because when you finish, you're probably gonna be asking yourself the same thing I was..."What in the world just happened?" 🤣📚💜

New to me Author

I was happy I saw this posted because these few pages were packed with a good ole time. When I say I had my mouth open the whole time reading, I was not ready for that twist. I also love how at the end of the book we got to get a little preview of her other books. I can’t wait to read more!

This was 45 pages of, “What the actual hell did I just read?” 🤣 At no point did I know where this story was going, and somehow I finished with even more questions than when I started. I’m still trying to figure out what was real, what wasn’t, and whether I’m supposed to have answers or just sit in the confusion. It was certainly…an experience.

It took me a few days to finish it because I was finishing up some tv series and kept putting this down. This was supposed to be a short horror with not much giving in the synopsis. Ummmmmm…. Yeah! So I’m going to give a lot of spoilers because it’s under 50 pages and in order to talk about it I will have to give things away. It starts off with the FMC(I forgot all of their names lol) sitting in a car with her boyfriend and his homebody. The boyfriend has convinced her to rob an old man that his mom used to work for. They go in the house and that’s when things get crazy.

I loved the way the author was able to tell this story in such a short book and I loved how time kept repeating itself. That was where the one star came from.

The actual story wasn’t good to me. It boiled down to the boys being dl and her coming to the conclusion she had to have been date r*ped by the boyfriend’s friend. Although the admitted it when she brought it up, it just didn’t land with me. Then the author put a note at the end and some resources for victims of r*pe. Idk that was icky and terrible placement for a reader thought could have been bothered by it. Heavy topics should be handled with better care and not in a horror for shock value. I’m giving this author another try before I throw in the towel.

Less than 50 pages that was so interestingly written that if you read too fast- you'll miss it!

I actually think this is the best written complex book I've read this year and that says a lot because I have some heavy hitters.

Why I deem it complex-
A LOT of events occurred in very few pages.
Full story told within those few pages.
Perfectly written in its genre.
I felt like the characters in the book- I was experiencing their confusion and fear.

To have a reader question what they read with their eyes and actually experience the "hallucination" with the character- kinda of amazing.

I love how the story was told from the FMC's perspective (mostly) and when she made a conscious decision to do "right" by the owners of the home- she was allowed to leave this never-ending nightmare.

Almost symbolic of how some people describe "hell".

----
Really amazing read that doesn't fully clear up anything but implies so much.

Wrong Door- Nycole B.

Not the scariest thing that I’ve ever read but every new drop of new information was with sending me. This was great. I need more little horror/psychological thriller Novellas but also I need Rochelle to make better decisions ASAP. Giving up an education for penis is crazy even if it’s not the field you wanna be in insanity. Let’s do better ladies. I’m glad she did what she did, but I’m not happy where she ended up. This was another great read for Summerween 2026.

If you are looking for a short horror story:

-chaotic storyline
-robbery & revenge
-based in North Philly
-48 pages

Honestly, I ran to read this because people were raving about it on Threads. This had the potential of being a solid concept. There was a lot going on, almost too much going on for 48 pages.

The initial concept was solid.
I thought it would give “Don’t Breathe” movie vibes at first. The story had a decent amount of imaginative scare, too.

But, overall this missed the mark for me.
Maybe if it was a bit longer to tie some of the loose ends together.

This had me staring into space for 3 days straight. I'm writing this review weeks later and still unsure of what exactly I read because this was such a mind game of a book. I didn't know what to rate this book at first because I was so lost, but that means the author did her job correctly right? This was also my first read by this author and though my mind is still looking for itself I have already began looking into the rest of her catalogue.

Speechless! 😮‍💨 Nothing could’ve prepared me for these 40-ish pages. I was literally gagged with every page turn. This was such a good, quick introduction to this author’s work, and now I need more. I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of her catalog because… WHAT DID I JUST READ?! 😭

the mind is a terrifying and beautiful place

This whole book was a walk through the mind, whether that mind is unstable, fragile, fragmented I don’t think is up for us to determine. But, for us to appreciate it in all its forms. This was the perfect 30min read and of course I need to read more form this author NEOWWW!!

3⭐️ ummm…… yeh ….. This book was very interesting to be 40ish pages. I never knew where this story was going . Poor Rochelle she seemed naive asf . The ending tho ??? Who is Dr.Hill & why that made me intrigued to read more of her books to figure out.

I feel like it’s a lesson with this book but I don’t know what 😭 .

BRUUUUUUUH

I read it twice because the first time, I thought I had lost my mind. There are sooo many layers and the SYMBOLISM throughout lets you know that the truth is crazier than you could ever imagine. I need Rochelle out up of that facility in an update because my girl did nothing wrong! Free her!!!

What is going on in here???

Baby… this book had me questioning EVERYTHING!

This was like I got trapped inside an episode of Black Mirror meets The Twilight Zone. I don’t know what was real, what was fake, what was a dream, or what kind of mind game Nicole B. was playing… but I was locked in!

I laughed, I was shocked, I was confused, I was a little scared, and I was sitting there like “Ma’am… WHAT is happening?!” 😂

But let me tell you… when she finally got up outta there, I was cheering like I had a front-row seat! 🙌🏾

Wrong Door was a wild ride that kept me turning pages because I needed answers. Nicole B. definitely took me somewhere I wasn’t expecting to go!

A First

This was my first time reading a horror book. I did not see the plot twist at all! I do have more questions this and wish this was a bit longer. But I would recommend if you want to try out this genre. Very interesting, in a good way!
