She looked up then, meeting his eyes and it was like a gift.
Billionaire Hendrick has always done things right. He built his multi-billion empire without stepping on other people’s toes. So it’s a surprise to him when he, as owner of the company, is charged with dumping industrial waste in the Arctic Ocean. This is a PR mess so the company sends Hendrick to Africa to do some damage control. Helping build a school and hospital for the impoverished children is exactly in Hendrick’s repertoire. What’s not in it is the habit of falling in bed with the same girl twice.
In Africa, he meets African-American Jocelyn, who is doing volunteer work to give back to the community. Hendrick and Jocelyn immediately develop a liking to each other that quickly turns into a nightly romp. Jocelyn’s volunteer work in Africa is about her guilt for living a good life. What happens when she finds out that Hendrick, while not a stranger to doing missions, is actually indirectly involved in poisoning the ocean?

Honestly, the depiction of Africa in this book is really disappointing. 1. Africa is not a country and Ms Starr had trouble understanding this. In the beginning of the book, the male lead is on a jet to Africa. Excuse me, what? Where in Africa? There are 54 countries in the continent and the author was too lazy to think of one? Even if it was pretend. 2. If you’re not going to do any research on the background setting of your story you shouldn’t use it. I understand that not every character needs to have depth but referring to every person as the ‘African’ this or that is so shallow and sloppy.
Some might not think it’s a big deal but this is the kind of narrative that’s harmful to the image of Africa. No one is saying be politically correct but at least have the decency to treat Africa like a normal place that consists of different kinds of people not some exotic backdrop for some rushed sex story.

Hendrick is a CEO of a company that he rarely keeps tabs on but when he’s blamed for an disposal of crap in the Arctic Ocean he becomes livid. He goes to Africa to try and show that he is not what he is being accused of. While in Africa he meets Jocelyn and she rocks his world in more than one way. They start to see each other every night until she leaves. But things almost end on a rocky road cause of a conversation she overheard him talking about with his second in command. This is just the firs book in this series and I can’t wait to read the next one hoping that there is a happy ending somewhere.
Book has nice storyline but the delivery was a failure for me. We have a woman who is working in Africa teaching and supporting for Aids And she had sex with him without a condom. That was it for me.
It was okay, not a fan of serials though. Seem unrealistic that Jocelyn was in a part of Africa hit strongly with aids and she had unprotected sex with a virtual stranger regardless of his origin.
