She came to Hell with nothing. Now she owns a secret.Lilly Acharya Anderson knows the name of the thing that stopped the world at the end of everything and lifted a Fallen angel out of Maxwell's hands like a chess piece. He'd burn the Seventh Ring to learn it.

She's not selling. Not yet.

Because the little bookkeeper is done being helpless. Night after night, in a gold no sun ever made, the gentlest monster in creation is teaching her to want—and in Hell, wanting is the only magic there is. It comes easy. It costs her nothing.

But she’ll soon learn that nothing ever costs nothing.

Caught between the devil who calls her his and the archangel who catches her every time she falls, Lilly is running out of options. And when Maxwell's leash finally snaps in front of the whole town, only one creature in existence can stop what's coming for her.

He'll even be gentle about it. He always is. This time, Lilly knows better than to sign a contract without reading it.

In Hell, you get precisely what you ask for. Nothing more.

And God help her—nothing less.

Kathryn has always been a storyteller. Years of scriptwriting for performances on stage and for tourism in Boston led her to writing romantically dark, fantastical tales, which was an obsession of hers that began once seeing The Phantom of the Opera at a young age.

When she isn’t penning new villainous leads, she works in video game development. There, she has been everything from Creative Director to Chief of Staff, Design Manager, Executive Producer, and Principal Writer for various companies in the industry.

She shares her antique home with three very fluffy animals and one very patient and loving husband.

I received an advance review copy from the author/The Nerd Fam, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

❤️ World Building: In this 2nd book in the series we get to see more of where Lucifer lives. We also get to see and learn more about the other people in Barren, even the creepy preacher in the church!

❤️ The Characters: I loved reading reading how the relationship between Lilly and Lucifer grows, and while I’m rooting for him (despite it being a way choose 🥰), I still don’t trust him and his motives! Maxwell may seem more direct but I also can’t trust him. While both men are obsessed with Lilly, I have to ask myself, what is their ultimate goal? Will their love for Lilly become more important than their long standing aspirations?

❤️ The Story: This story just keeps getting better and better! It was breathtaking! There are so many faucets in the story that are yet to be revealed. Knowing Kathryn’s previous work, you never know which way a story will go, so there is so much that could happen and so many directions it can go! There were so many loose ends that could go so many different ways!

❤️‍🔥Overall: I’m so glad these books are being released every month, because I don’t think I could wait a long time for more of this story! If you haven’t picked up the 1st book, Lust, yet, you really should!!!!

Lucifer fact Inspired by the Archangel: The original Lucifer meaning is closely tied to light, dawn, Venus, and the morning star. The Latin word combines lux or lucis, meaning light, with ferre, meaning to carry or bear. In Roman usage, Lucifer referred to Venus when it appeared in the eastern sky before sunrise, making “light-bearer” a literal image rather than an inherently evil name.

Insert Cam, from modern family, screaming and running, "Lillayyyyy" during her bolting phase. Lilly girl. What did you do?? Just. What. Did. You. Do???? Oh my god. This series is about to become my entire personality, it just gets better and better! The vibes are a thousand percent dark western now but like early 2000s wild, wild west feel (yes it came out in 99 but you get it). Maxwell is giving Bill Compton and I actually love him. Hello, I'm in love with Lucifer??? This book had no right being this hilarious. And I absolutely am chomping at the bit for book 3. No, I wont expand on anything said here.

THANK YOU KATHRYN ANN KINGSLEY for this incredible ARC!!

After the end of Lust, I am INVESTED.

The stage has been set, the first betrayal has dropped, and we definitely can't trust anybody. In short, the stakes are high, and the consequences higher.

The jury's currently out on my chosen ship, but things are definitely getting spicy. I mean, 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 from the tension alone.

And that ending dropped me right off a Grand Canyon sized cliff. Like, I may have actually hurt myself.

I still don't really know what's going on, but this series is on it's way to becoming one of my top reads of the year.
