Ashley MacKillop has it all figured out. She has her boyfriend, a house, a good (if not exciting job). Everything is going according to plan, and everything is fitting into the nice, tidy, neat-freak boxes she’s created for herself.

Until he walks away. Until he says he needs a break. Until he says he’s done. But he forgot to break up with her. Was she part of a couple anymore? Was she single?

A red-wine fueled therapy session with her three closest friends has Ashley trying all sorts of things that force her to break out of her comfort zone and figure out who she is when there’s no man involved.

In the end, what defines a woman? Is it the man she’s with? Is it the friends she keeps? Is it the copious amounts of red wine that she consumes? Or is it who she is when no one is watching?

Will she decide she needs a man in her life? Will she even want him back if he were to come back?

I am a 39 year old who just decided in January 2015 to finally write a book. I am excited that I have three books on Goodreads now!

I'm an avid reader, I have a tendency to zone out the world when I'm reading. I always wanted to be able to write but I would get started, and then a page later, I was done.

My husband, Mike, and I live in Wareham, MA with our (gulp) eleven rescued pets.

I made a good friend in A. E. Murphy (an awesome author, please check her out!) who kept nudging me (ok, seriously pushing me) into writing.

I hope you enjoy!

Singleish? If you’re asking what that is exactly, I’ll tell you. Your answer is… Exactly what it says… Singleish. Meaning kind of single, kind of not. What does that even mean? I had no idea! Until I read this book. I honestly didn’t know what I was getting when I received this. No blurb, no excerpt, NOTHING! But I dived into the story anyway.
This book was everything opposite of what I usually read. HONEST! I LOVE books filled with drama, twists and turns, dark and thrilling, hot and steamy, and downright emotional. Not this one! You know how you come across a book every now and again that’s just simple, light, carefree, and hilarious and reminds you of your own girlfriends? This is that book!
Do I secretly wish there was a little more drama? Sure! But, I think the author did a great job at writing this. It was unlike any book I’ve read before. I’ve never read about a chick blogging about her life. It never appealed to me. But this one did!
Elizabeth Butts is hilarious through her writing. If she continues to write books like these… They will definitely be on my TBR list. Sometimes a girl can only take so much drama even when she loves it! Her books can be my light, to all my dark! I’m looking forward to see what she has planned next. HAPPY READING!!

I went into this book blind. Like completely blind. I had no idea what it was about, it is now in my top 10 favourite books EVER.
What I loved about this book was the way it made me howl with laughter, the way it made me tear up a time or two, the way that I even have a massive smile on my face after finishing it.
I honestly couldn't put it down as I HAD to finish it, my other half probably wouldn't agree as the house still hasn't been cleaned. Oops!
I love Ashley, In fact, i loved every single character in this book! I really hope there'll be more!
The humour, the sarcasm, the wittiness, love and friendship had me feeling gooey on the inside.
The writing was brilliant, the character developments worked extremely well and the storyline was amazing.
If you're looking for a hilarious, fun, light read then Singleish is definitely the book for you!
I want to kidnap Elizabeth Butts and lock her away so I have all the words! Just. For. Me!

Elizabeth Butts did an awesome job with this one. A truly original concept, Ashley's boyfriend breaks up with her because he finds her boring. Her friends convince her to take a class on blogging and challenge her to try new things, that they pick, so she can blog about them. Her friends put her into hilarious situations while she is challenged. A very fun book, perfect for reading on a plane, on vacation or in bed. Looking forward to reading her other ones.

I love Liz Butts and I can't deny! (Hope you don't take offence at being called Liz)

I read this book based purely on a recommendation on Facebook and I was not disappointed - I don't read blurbs so didn't know what to expect but this is entirely my sense of humour and it was read within a few hours of starting.

This was my first book from Elizabeth but it certainly won't be my last.

Such a fun, hilarious book. I loved all the escapades and experiences that Ashley had to go through to push herself out of her comfort zone. Was just what I needed to get out of my book slump.

This book was all over the place. It was one long stream of consciousness. I think a good editor could tighten up the story, there was so much unnecessary detail, so many rambling thoughts. The tone was hard to gauge as well, it was mostly a comedy, but then the end got too serious and didn't gel with the rest of the book. There were a few funny parts, but as a whole it didn't work for me.

The book never tells how old Ashley is, but most of the time she acts like a (drunken) teenager. If her friends are to be believed she has no fashion sense, is a klutz, an inability to use makeup and frizzy, awful hair. In the end, she goes on about how much she's missed Craig and how her heart's been shattered, but she doesn't really act like it throughout the book.

Craig is in the book for all of five seconds when he walks out, but I'm supposed to care if he comes back? He doesn't get mentioned very often, nothing to make me think he's a great guy and hope they get back together.

Ashley's three friends weren't fleshed out enough for me to remember who was who. And none of them seemed to like Ashley very much. After finding out how they manipulated her life near the end, I don't think I'd want them as friends anymore.

The whole thing with Mark, the teacher, left me scratching my head. Their "first time" conversation was gross and inappropriate (I know it wasn't a "real" class, but going on a date with the teacher???). And after he goes on about how he finds her so attractive and wants to date her, she sets him up with her friend? It was so bizarre.

Then at the end, the book does a 180 and gets too serious. Ashley goes on about how broken-hearted she's been without Craig, and it felt like it came out of nowhere. She wasn't acting all that devastated, so it left me feeling, "meh".

This book is about a girl, who after an almost break up but not a full one, decides to take a blog class. Her friends help her with her blog by making her do something new and different every week which she has to write about, whether its good or bad.

I can say that this book was a great read. It was funny and entertaining and very real. I absolutely fell in love with Ashley and her tight circle of friends. I also loved Penny and her babies :) They all stole my heart. I can't tell you how many times I just laughed at this book. It was so enjoyable. It was by far the funniest, most lighthearted book I have read in a long time. The ending was absolutely amazing. By far the best ending I have read in a book. The writing was also very good. It was overall a great book and one that I will definitely recommend.

I want to say thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author...Stormi

If these ladies were my friends I'd kill them - let me get that out of the way first up!

This book is full of the friendships we all secretly envy but would be terrified to have. The type of loyal girlfriends which when combined with too much wine and ice cream could mean anything could happen - and that's exactly what happens to Ashley!

After ignoring her long suffering boyfriend Craig one too many times, he decides they need to take a break. The moment he does, Ashley's best friends decide to help her get out of the comfort zone she's stuck in no matter what it takes - resulting in a series of dares she can't back down from.

This book is full of embarrassing fashion failures, too many embarrassing moments and word slip ups to not have you smiling.

Elizabeth does a great job reminding us that to be truly happy in a relationship you really do need to be happy within yourself

I laughed so much while reading this book! I liked the fact that the way it was written was down to earth and pretty realistic to me. The playful banter, questions about her relationship, questioning her self, the bond she made with pets and more made Ashley seem very realistic to me. And it made for a very enjoyable read as well. I loved reading about the main character taking on challenges she wouldn't otherwise, and I loved how she took time to think about whether she really wanted to be with her guy in the end or not.

This is a what I consider a beach read. While there is a little bit of drama for the most part, it's a light read. When Ashley's boyfriend decides that maybe they need some time apart, Ashley's friends decide she needs to live a little. Ashley, up until the breakup has a lot going for her, she's relatively happy, she has a relatively decent job, relatively good friends, relatively good life.

It's a nice light read with no heavy or dark subject matters, it's a well written book by a new author. It had a fun Sex in the City feel without the sex but with fun times and good friends.

Love Love LOOOVED this story. Elizabeth did a fantastic job showing what often happens in "real world" relationships. The journey Ashley goes on is both hilarious and inspiring. There were actually a few times I was surprised with what happened. I can't wait to dive in to books 2 and 3! Well done Elizabeth!!!
