Murdoku #1

Murdoku: 80 moordmysteriepuzzels

Rate this book

I had so much fun doing it with my wife 😊
It was the perfect winter activity.

The Portuguese translation is a bit poor but nevertheless I am ready for Murdoku II.

4.5 ⭐ I became borderline obsessed with this game for a month until i finished it! really entertaining and challenging!! the tiny detail for not giving it 5 stars it's because of the last 2 puzzles: something about the portuguese translation made one of the clues dubious (so it became almost impossible to solve) and a misleading drawing of the characters that raised a lot of doubts.

anyways, i loved it and eager for the next edition ✨✨✨

Fabulous puzzles— I liked how they progressively got trickier and trickier. I must admit that I had to use the hints on some occasions to help me work them out. Can't wait for the next book.

This was an interesting puzzle book! I enjoyed the layouts and how they contributed to the logic challenges presented. The book does ease you into solving the puzzles and gradually increases the difficulty. There isn't a connecting storyline, so you can solve these puzzles in any order. I will say the logic behind some puzzles stumped me, and I wasn't always able to follow some leaps; however, I did appreciate that there were step-by-step explanations in the back of the book with the answer key. Definitely would pick up a second Murdoku if one gets published.

Assolutamente no.

Sta a te capire qual è.»

Me encantó.

So this book frustrated me A LOT! I felt like some of the logic didn’t make sense! They would give information and then I’d go look at the explanation at the end and it would say “so it has to be this” and I’m like “HOW!?”
I had to cheat for a lot of these puzzles and I got very frustrated. I will not be completing another one of these books unless they give more clues and rework the books.

Ainda assim, recomendo. É mesmo muito viciante.

I really, really loved this new puzzle format. Combining Murdle and sudoku, two of my favorite things, is honestly genius. I had so much fun exercising my brain with these puzzles, and the concept itself is easily 5-star worthy for me. However, the second half of the book got REALLY hard. I’m an educated person, and I feel like I’m generally pretty good with fluid reasoning, but damn, some of these puzzles made me feel so stupid! 😅 I ended up having to use the clues in the back for the majority of the second half, which I hated because I absolutely hate “cheating” on puzzles. But I was genuinely stumped. My biggest issue was that even some of the hints/explanations didn’t fully make sense to me. There would be explanations like “B must go in that spot,” but not enough explanation of WHY it had to go there. A lot of the harder puzzles seemed to rely more on understanding the logic of the grid configurations themselves, and I think that’s where I struggled most. The puzzles that relied primarily on the written clues were by far my favorites, and honestly, if the whole book had followed that style more closely, this would’ve been an easy 5 stars from me. Even with my frustrations, I still had a great time overall, and I already have Volume 2 preordered because I’m really curious to see if there are any changes or improvements to the hint system and puzzle balance. Either way, I know I’ll still enjoy it and am looking forward to it.

Love! The hour train I had to take from Waterloo to get my hands on this was SO worth it. Helped me pass time while flying, have some wholesome time with my mum and distress after work days.
