Book presents a lot of scientific and historical information about models explaining the origins of the universe. It shows how all competing models explaining origins of the universe developed historically, and it outlines how current prevailing Big Bang model clearly stands out being in line with all observable scientific evidences. Author spends a lot of time outlining that from theistic point of view Big Bang model is most appropriate one as it clearly postulates beginning of the universe including all mater, energy, and also space and time. No doubt such model can be used in line with Genesis 1:1 to argue about God as the Creator of the universe.
Author also gives some useful information about anthropic principle giving many examples of extraordinary balance of many physical components and parameters in the universe that are in favor of sustaining life as we know it. This line of reasoning about fine-tuned universe is used here to show the existence of the Creator that designed universe to bring forth and sustain advanced forms of life.
Finally, author turns to more theological topics. Here are presented quite sound arguments why creation days of Genesis 1 should not be treated as 24-hour days, but rather interpreted as longer periods of time. Some Old Earth Creationism arguments are given here in opposition to Young Earth Creationism (6000 years old) and short description of author's view of Genesis creation account. Few other theological topics are covered at the end of the book, but I believe these are much better treated in other literature.
Overall good reading, but a bit outdated scientific facts for nowadays. When reading first part of the book I had a feeling that author is too much anti-Platonic and anti-Kantian. Maybe therefore his view on the universe is quite traditional from astrophysics perspective, and he is not mentioning such alternative explanations as Pancomputationalism, Holographic principle, Mathematical universe hypothesis etc.
