After ten years of captivity and torture, Cherry finally escapes the clutches of the humans who slaughtered her family. But now she’s stuck in her wolf form, and completely unprepared for what comes next.
On the run from the facility that experimented on her, Cherry pushes herself to the brink… until her body gives out. When she wakes, she’s certain she’s been caught again.
Instead, she finds herself surrounded by five alpha wolf shifters who seem intent on helping her.
They refuse to let her out of their sight. Their kindness confuses her, not just because she hasn’t seen a glimpse of it in over a decade, but because she feels an equal pull to all five of them.
Which is impossible.
Everyone knows a wolf shifter can only have one fated mate, which is revealed when they lock eyes in their human forms.
But what happens if Cherry can never shift, and she’s stuck as a wolf forever? Worse, what happens when the males she’s starting to trust discover the truth?
That the facility didn’t just torture her.
They killed her.
Over and over again
***Bound is book one in The Caged Wolf trilogy and ends in a cliffhanger. It's a hurt/comfort, why choose, MFMM+, romance novel with dark themes. No mm/ff/cheating/owd. The FMC will not have to choose between her love interests. For a full list of trigger warnings please ShonaKnight dot com.
Reverse Harem Author If you love a reverse harem romance with heart, heat and happily ever after, then you've come to the right place! Shona writes full length MFMM+ why choose reverse harem stories that vary from fantasy to contemporary to paranormal. The FMC will always be the main focus of her men!
A lot of her stories focus on women that come from some sort of tortured background, but you will also find some lighthearted fun reads scattered in between!
Oof this one was frustrating. We have a book that has five men falling in love with the girl, but the girl is a wolf. Who can't communicate or talk to them in any way. So the five men are falling in love with an animal. Now I know to a certain extent they believe they are fated mates, but this whole book is love based on nothing. We answered the question of will men still pine after you if you never speak to them. Yes apparently.
Aside from that annoyance nothing happens in this book. We get the promising start of background at the facility and then *poof* no plot. Just the guys weirdly pining after an animal the whole book. We get a little stalking and issues from the alpha but they get resolved so fast the problem seems to fake.
Overall I think I could've gotten into this if she shifted around 30 percent, or hell I'll give you 50. But her not shifting until the end of the book? No thanks
This could've been good if she shifted by the halfway point, but instead she shifted on one of the last pages. So what we are left with is 5 guys falling in love with a dog. Yes they know she's a shifter. No they can't have any real conversation or connection. Everything is hinging on a mate bond that hasn't even formed because.....you guessed it.....she hasn't shifted. The whole book is literally them treating her like a pet.....because she essentially is one. For. The. Whole. Book. You're telling me someone decided to write a why choose romance in which the main characters couldn't have a conversation AT ALL????? For 300 pages?????
Other than that we have a brainiac that jumps to allllll the right conclusions (how convenient), an asshole alpha of the pack (surprise!), and don't forget the bitchy bully blonde that wants the man (how cliche).
The only interesting aspect of this book was the experimental lab, and that plot line was forgotten about as soon as she escaped.
I liked this at the beginning, but then it went downhill. I read other reviews before I started it, so I know what i was getting into in terms of the FMC not shifting for the whole book, but I thought I would be able to get past it. I was wrong. She really is like a pet dog for most of this book - they let her outside in the morning to go to the bathroom, they feed her dinner in a bowl, they rub her belly and coo at her, and they bathe her every few days. It got a little fucking weird. It also was slightly boring after awhile. The whole middle of the book was extremely slow and nothing happened other than bathing her and her wagging her tail and them wrestling in wolf form in the backyard. At the end, she got attacked and/or died like 3 times in a row while someone named Blaze snuck into the house 3 separate times, but honestly nothing real happened.
The FMC is in her wolf form for the ENTIRE book! She shifted right at the very end for about 2 minutes, long enough to tell them her name and then she felt an intense pain and darkness fades in and the book ends. But this kinda just felt like 5 men and their cute pet dog for the most part. Hopefully the next one is better.
So it starts 10 years in the past with Cherry at 14 years old out on a family run with her wolf shifter fam- 2 older sisters 16 and 18 and her parents. They’re attacked by humans and her fight/flight just has her freezing. So they kill her family and take her to a facility where she’s constantly experimented on over the years, when she’s 18 some of the guards make SA threats to her so from then on she just stays in her wolf form and at some point is just unable to shift back human at all. She’s continuously tortured and experimented on in her wolf form, whatever they’ve done to her causes her to keep coming back from the dead when they go too far. She gets an opportunity to escape and runs for days while injured and muzzled and finally collapses in a cave. The 5 mmcs come across her and they’re wolf shifters too, they want to help her and are so kind and they all feel a pull towards her, she feels it too. In this world fated mates need to be in human form to look into each other’s eyes and just know that they’re mates and it’s super rare for a woman to have more than one mate so they’re all kinda worried she’ll shift human and only ‘connect’ to one of them. Obviously they’ll be the exception to the rule.
So they spend weeks in the woods with her and when she still hasn’t shifted they decide to take her home with them. The 5 mmcs are the SilverStorm pack and they exist within a larger pack- The Westgrove pack which is ran by one of the mmcs uncle. They adopt the fmc as one of their pack mates to protect her from the uncle because she’ll be considered a feral rogue and he’ll want to kill her. So they go home, uncle is acting suspicious as fuck after he sees the fmc. Orchestrates an attack on her because the facility she escaped from has put out a reward for her return, mmcs save her, kill the uncle and then Maddox the main alpha of the SilverStorm pack has to take over for his uncle for now until he can find a replacement since they all just want to leave the pack anyway. Right at the end is when the fmc finally shifted and they all realised they were mates and then the pain and darkness thing happened and then cliffhanger
-Multi PoV -slow burn, no romance yet since fmc was a wolf the whole time. -Fated mates -fmc is Cherry, mmcs are Maddox, Bain, Gage and twins Hunter and Chase. I think Bain was my fav in this so far. -no mm, fmc is a virgin, no history at all given yet about the guys history with women. -tiny OWD- the uncle alpha guy asks Maddox about arranging a mating for him with ow called Juliet who is apparently the strongest female in the pack, he says he has no interest whatsoever, she makes an appearance and he tells her to her face too, she only wants him because he’ll be alpha one day and she’s upfront about that. She makes a comment that one of the other mmcs is more her type but none of them are interested at all. Fmc growls at her or something when she comes near the mmcs and then later the ow gets engaged to an alpha from a different pack. -Cliffhanger

An intense why choose shifter romance, following Cherry, a traumatised and abused wolf, as she escapes her captors and finds sanctuary with 5 alpha wolves. I loved their individual personalities, and how they all care for and protect Cherry. There are multiple enemies and threats lurking, mystery and drama, and a slow burn building rh romance. Loved this first book, can't wait for the next.
The writing is genuinely awful and the dialogue is so stilted that it’s less realistic than immortal wolf shifters.
There are so many unnecessary additions and descriptors in sentences that the cadence is jolted into something unendingly unpleasant.
It’s written as if we’re idiots: the further I went, the more I started to feel like one.
There’s stuff like: “Time starts to pass by in strange chunks of time.” Is her line editor busy in a corner rocking back and forth or something? I would be. There’s a lot of that kind of crap, so someone was paid to drop the ball before publishing.
“I shift quickly, letting her snap at their hands, leaving blood and bite marks behind.” Okay, gerund queen, what else would be left after that? It’s just so obnoxious.
There’s a whole section of sentences that start with: Glancing around, I … Looking around, I … Just say what you see! For the love of –
I despise gerunds and this author loves them enough for the both of us and then some. -ing words should be used as sparingly as adverbs. This is day one, basic knowledge.
The FMC often recaps things that just happened in order to remind her now conscious self of events we’re already well aware of, as we were quite literally just there.
There are huge swaths of a whole bunch of nothing happening and inane conversation. I don’t know why I kept reading. I really don’t.
There was something I wanted to see happen but it’s clear that the author is both dragging it out and going out of their way to stagnate their “skill.”
This writing is an affront to talented authors, trying to enter the industry, while this is the stuff inundating it.
I’ve read other books of this author’s that were admittedly not written well, but they were never this bad. Great heavens.
“Hunter scowls through the selection…” Instead of ‘scours.’
There ends up being some really cool lore about their world that just made me frustrated because I knew I wouldn’t be able to take much more of this writing. It made my brain too sad.
And then I realized that she just listed potential mythical creatures alphabetically. Like, she did a quick Google and picked from the list without any ostensible intention of implementing their existence.
The ending is a disappointing mess and I truly couldn’t care whether any of them lived or died.
This could’ve been really cool but she ruined it with the awful writing and the many creepily erotic baths of a veritable dog.
Shona Knight knows how to write a book, and the first installment in The Caged Wolf series starts with an absolute bang.
I loved everything about this book, the plot, the characters… it completely pulled me in from the very first page. Every character brought something to the story, and I was hooked the entire time.
I’m so grateful the next book releases so soon because I already need to know what happens next. I can’t wait to dive right back into this world!
This is just my personal opinion but I think this is Yumoyori Wilson, Avery Song, Avery Phoenix brand new pen name she was bragging about. The writing is stilted the same phrases and writing habits show throughout all the pen names. They could just have a similar writing style but I went back and read some of the Avery Song books I have and no one will convince me I am wrong. Also there is a ton of AI being used on TikTok to advertise this authorʼs books. Gross.
I was bored. I donʼt know why the MFC had to be shifted FOR SO LONG.
Escaped abusive doctor experiment. Ooo hot guys. Oh no I’m a wolf. They feed me :). Move in. Uh oh stalker. I’m not like the other wolves. Bad alpha >:(. Mate!
First the pro’s: - likable FMC - good looking and likable MMC‘s even though their personalities were extremely unoriginal, and at this point are getting played out in the why-choose trope. But enjoyable nonetheless. - interesting plot - good writing
Now the con’s: - the author making the in my opinion, huge mistake of having the FMC stay in her wolf form the entire book. Big mistake, huge! And that brings me to the second con. - this is a huge con for me and I see many authors doing it nowadays. And that is basically writing one longer novel, but then chopping it into three so that they can sell it as a trilogy. And by doing so they make the three chopped up books, extremely drawn out and with a huge amount of boring filler. And unfortunately, this author did it with this book too. It was so drawn out that I found myself sometimes skimming and often bored. And that sucks so bad because otherwise everything about this book and this trilogy had the potential to be five stars for me because I love the plot and character so much. Authors are truly doing themselves a disservice by publishing books the way that they are. - because the author basically made the FMC a pet dog to the MMC’s the entire book it was just boring for me. After 50% I was 100% ready for her to shift finally and it just never happened. That was a huge disappointment and because of that another con. - this was a no burn. Because like I said the FMC stays in Wolf form the entire book. Up until even at the end of the book literally almost the last page when she finally shifts, they don’t even kiss. So I believe it’s a true no burn. And that for me in any type of romance book will always be a huge, no no. - because of her being in wolf form the entire book, there was no actual chemistry or dynamic between them or them really getting to know each other at all either. We get to know them because the author has each character tell us their backstory. But there is no real interaction between her and the men as adult humans. It’s just her again interacting with them as a wolf. - I’m really upset by all of this to be honest. I was so looking forward to this because I love this author. And I haven’t had a good wolf shifter why-choose book in forever. And this book had so many ingredients that I just absolutely live for in books. But because of the cons mentioned, it just really took it down a lot of notches for me and that is frustrating. - oh, and I almost forgot another con. Pretty much everything was very predictable to me. And I understand that this author isn’t trying to write a mystery book. But it was all pretty predictable and we all know that the animal sanctuary is not an actual animal sanctuary. And we pretty much can guess what it is which sucks. The only thing that I don’t fully get but even that I could almost predict is who Blaze is. It was just randomly thrown in there. And I can almost again predict what it is. And is anybody else predicting that her family isn’t really dead? I don’t know y’all it all just felt very predictable.

This was such a unique PNR! The FMC has been through true horrors and after finally escaping, she’s just trying to find a safe place. She was not expecting to encounter a pack of wolf shifters that would do anything to keep her safe!
My heart literally broke for Cherry, she’s been through so much but still found the strength to run. The mystery of who took her has me on the edge of my seat. The most unique aspect of this book is that Cherry is stuck in her wolf form and can’t communicate with the guys. It was really interesting to see their relationship form with no words needed. They truly helped her begin to heal.
There is zero spice in this book (obviously since she’s stuck in her shifted form, but I am sure it’s coming in the next book!)
The guys were all big ole teddy bears (or wolves 🤭). They are soft only for her and I loved each and every one of them! The twins were a highlight!
This book ended on a cliff so I am biting at the bars for the next one to come out!
Tropes: ❤️🩹 Hurt x Comfort 🤭 Strangers to Lovers ✨ Fated Mates ❤️🔥 Slowww Burn (No Spice) 🐺 Wolf Shifters 🔥 Down Bad Alphas 💖 Soft For Her
Super cheesy juvenile writing, stupid submissive damsel in distress, identical MMCs, instalove irritated a hell out of me. The only interesting - and presumably new for RH - thing is FMC being in her wolf form all the way down. Ok, it could be interesting but FMC behaves like a dog and MMCs treat her like a dog, so nothing's exciting here.
I love the notice in the beginning where she says this book is not to be used to train ai, and then proceeds to use ai images for the chapter art. Classy.
Every time I pick up a Shona Knight book it hits everything I’ve been wanting or wanted. She hits the spot with her books every time. I love Bound it was so good although I want to immediately dive into book 2 but we’ve gotta wait a tiny bit of time. I love Cherry like all of the FMCs that Shona writes she is strong and a survivor which I love! The men are tough scary men who are only soft for her which is amazing and I don’t currently have a favorite between Maddox Bain Gage Hunter and Chase so I’m excited to see if in the next few books that changes. I love the way they are when they are with Cherry
It has a cliffhanger it wouldn’t be a Shona Knight trilogy without a cliffhanger but thankfully the next book releases so soon!!!
✨Why Choose 🍒Shifters ✨Fated Mates 🍒Obsessed MMCs ✨Sweet FMC 🍒Hurt/Comfort ✨Forced Proximity 🍒FMC stuck in her wolf form ✨Touch Her & 💀
I’m super grateful to have been able to read an ARC!!
This was a fucking perfect start to a series and I'm so HYPED. One thing that I really care about RH/WC is the MMCs and so far I LOVE (yes, love) all of them and they all felt like actual characters with personalities. So fucking glad we didn't have a grumpy asshole in the pack. Thank you Shona Knight.
Also so far I love Cherry. Authors tend to write their abused FMCs very poorly...if you know what I mean... Even though Cherry survived LITERAL hell, she was not written poorly or annoyingly. I actually kind of adore her and I really can't wait to read more about her and her mates.
(4 star only because I was done with her staying as a wolf the entire book.)
Spoiler !!!
I'm betting my money on Blaze also being her fated mate and I bet he was the first one that she bonded with and she doesn't remember it. That explains why he is obsessed with Cherry. And since all of her bond is complete, that is why we got the last scene.
Also I love me some crazy/insane loverboy MMC so I'm guessing Blaze is that one. Can't wait to meet him if that's the case.
This is insane. If you want: - 300 pages with yes and no questions with a dog - Insta lust/love from mmc's
Then enter at your own peril...
I kept reading hoping she would shift halfway through the book but it only happens at the last pages and then i was curious enough to read the next few chapters in book 2 and it did not get better - I cringed so hard when she told one of mmc's she wanted to complete the bond within their third in person meeting of only a few minutes. NOPE! I'm done...
Shona Knight’s Bound marks her first foray into shifter romance, bringing her signature hurt/comfort dynamic into a new genre. Let me preface this by saying I really commend the effort here—the premise is strong, and Cherry is a genuinely interesting character.
All in all, this is a solid effort. The plot is thin, but I’m giving the author some grace because the foundation is definitely there. Despite my complaints, I still enjoyed it and will be seeing where Cherry and her Alphas go next.
Oh my gosh. My heart breaks for Cherry. This girl has had a terrible lot in life. As if having her family killed in front of her wasn't bad enough she is the experimented on for years. She was so young.
That was such a heart pounding escape at the begging of thus story and gave just a glimpse at what her life had been like. It's been years since she set foot outside.
Cherry is so strong and there is definitely something very special about her. I have a few ideas about what might be going on but every time I think I might be onto something we learned something new.
This was such an interesting way to get to know the characters. We don't know a lot about cherry since she has been in captivity and is now stuck in her wolf form. We obviously don't get a ton of chemistry but rather this intense protective need.
I did enjoy learning about each of the men and seeing how they each comfort and protect her. I love those first interactions and the way they are so slow and careful with her. She is so scared but these are such good men.
That ending though was definitely interesting. What exactly is happening right now? I'm definitely intrigue and wondering what is going to happen next. I mean it can't be easy since this is three books.
I have to say holy moly, this book is so good. Right from the get go I was hooked. Definitely mind your triggers and check them before reading. This starts out with my heartbreaking. Poor Cherry has been through so much at the facility she's at. The experiments and everything is just so cruel.
Cherry is a wolf shifter and decides to stay in her wolf form for fear of what the men will do to her in human form preferring to have things done in wolf form.
Things happen and she gets away and ends up running into five wolf shifters. She is scared at first because hasn't been around any obe besides the horrible people in so long.
Maddox, Bain, Gage, Hunter and Chase are surprised when they find a small wolf. They sense something with her like they need to protect her. When they realize she can't shift, they worry at what happened to her.
So much happens in this book with a pack alpha being shady, messages being left by a creepy stalker, and so much. Intrigued and could not put this down. Need the next one now! Great read.
So this a book about 5 men falling in love with a girl who's a shape shifter trapped in the form of a wolf. Obviously she's super tiny, petite, cute even as a wolf, they refer to her "like medium dog sized" and carry her around the whole time. All that happens is, that she falls asleep und one of the men is cuddling with her like they would with a dog on the sofa. When she wakes up in their home for the first time, she has to scratch their patio door so they let her out in the garden to relieve herself, they fill a water bowl everyday for her, she behaves like my dog when I prepare his food (licking her lips, jumping up the counter to have a look), when they spend time outside the house she sits between the men's feet, while they pet her - why would you write a book about 5 men falling in love with a dog?! Additionally she has dark red fur, smells like cherries and they name her Red ... lol.
I can't even begin to describe how much I love Bound! Are you kidding meeeee?! Ugh Shona Knight has really outdone herself with this reverse harem shifter romance novel! I fear I'm needing book 2 ASAP!
Cherry, my girl Cherry! 😭 She's already been through so much after being in captivity for 10 years, and everything else that happened to her. My heart broke for her and yet, couldn't wait for her to begin trusting all these men!
The MMC's, I literally love all of them! There are NO favorites here, I can't wait to keep getting to know them all and their backstories. Maddox, Gage, Hunter, Chase, and Bain are literally perfect for Cherry.
The plot has me in a tizzy I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
This is an ARC review I am leaving voluntarily and all thoughts are my own.
So I normally don’t even start a series until after all books in the series are released, but I’ve been waiting for this one and just couldn’t help myself. I LOVED it!!! Shona Knight did beautifully on this one. The guys are just *chefs kiss*. I needed a break from MMCs being mean to the FMC and this book gave me everything I wanted with their gentleness and just overall need to do everything and be everything for her. Cherry was lovely and my heart breaks for her. I really can’t wait to see her blossom. Bravo, Ms. Knight! I can’t imagine it’s easy writing a book where the FMC doesn’t even speak to the men until the very end. It takes a level of detail and thoughtfulness to give her a voice when she’s voiceless and I am HERE for it. I seriously can’t wait until the next one and you best bet I’ll be unintentionally staying up until 3am trying to finish it like I did this one.
The first paranormal romance from Shona and what a good one it was! I was so invested in this story and the anticipation of finally meeting Cherry in her human form had me powering through this book in practically one sitting. Her story and past traumas were so heartbreaking and how Shona could make a wolf emote just shows you the power of her writing.
And the guys and their feelings for Cherry even as a wolf was just the sweetest thing ever. I’m dying to find out more about each of them. And after that ending book 2 can’t get here fast enough.
What’s Inside: - paranormal why choose - FMC stuck in her wolf form - trauma + bonding - hurt/comfort - mates - what is she?
I love Shona Knight's books and this series is the only one I haven't read yet. I love the green flag-filled harem and how she writes her tortured heroines growing into stronger people. I love that no bullying comes from the MMCs and how instantly devoted they are. Something about these books makes me savor them and keeps me on the edge of my seat, but also soothes my anxiety, knowing the MMCs are always on her side. Can't wait to read the next two!
Honestly, there isn’t much to say about the story, since very little happened. Many of the characters remained one-dimensional, and I was unable to form any connections to them. Furthermore, I’m somewhat uncertain about the amount of AI the author relied on while writing. Perhaps I’m completely mistaken, and if so, I apologize; But the “cover images” for the chapters look as if they have been AI-generated. It also strikes me as somewhat unusual that the author was able to publish the following books within only one month each…
I cannot believe I’ve finished this and can’t read book 2 until end of next month ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Shona Knight really knows how to write a book. This was so entertaining and easy to read and stay engrossed in. Counting down the days until August 21st 😭
