Promised by Allison B. Hanson is the second book in the Pack of Lies series. I did not read the first book and was not lost at all. This book is a standalone title. Gia is in a relationship that is long distance, and with an Alpha. He seems to really have no time for her. So she breaks it off. She is learning that she wants someone that puts her first for once. She is a strong woman with a compassionate heart, it was really easy to like her. Elias or Eli he is in a desperate situation. His brother is dying. He needs the Alpha to come through with the money he promised. So far he is getting stone walled and time is running out for his brother. So he kidnaps the Alpha’s woman, Gia. He is the worse kidnapper. He almost throws up from nerves. He keeps saying he is sorry, makes Gia as comfortable as he can. He really is not cut out for a life of crime. He is also a human. He doesn’t know about werewolves. He is about to get a fast education in them. The full moon is coming and Gia has no choice but to change. I liked his reaction to that news. He is going through so much with his brother but he still is a good sweet person. When he tells Gia why he is doing this, Gia actually helps him. I loved Gia for that. She might be scared and in chains but she still is compassionate. Their relationship goes on after the kidnapping is over. I liked how it all developed. It made it very believable for me. I loved the character’s connection to each other. They are really emotionally invested in each other and it showed. I really liked this series so far. I would love to read more. See what other unlikely pair will find love next and how it all plays out.
A kidnapping where nothing goes right brings them together but major cultural differences could tear them apart in this mesmerizing paranormal romance. The author has interjected some interesting twists into her werewolf world that spices it up and I found this romance to be a delightfully entertaining read although I must warn you to have some tissues close by because some of the emotional angst may bring on involuntary tears.
