Btw I have finished this last night. Only today I posses the courage to write a review. So here we go:
This book is a christmas gift I got from my bestfriend and it contains plethora of tips, advices and strategies to survive and excel in lawschool.
The first half of the book transfixed upon the context and overview of the study of law. It reads like a review of related literature. Whilst the remaining half gives concrete steps in regard to the book's contention.
I like the way the author tackled the general perspective of law school to wit: "Many law schools are obsessed with the bar exams. They are bar oriented in their approach to teaching law. Nevermind if students are not taught how to be skilled law practitioners of the future". I'll still optimistic despite these harsh realities and I agree with the author that both skills in law and passing the bar must come hand in hand to be a good lawyer not just a lawyer per se.
For me, the best advice I've read is "Everything must be earned the hardway" and I'll add, "Merely aiming to pass breeds mediocrity". I know it's a daunting task but it will be worth it. Just remember the people around you who will you save after you become a lawyer. Besides, being a lawyer is a lofty profession. Let this be our notion: NIHIL TEMENDUM EST (Fear Nothing).
Highly recommended even for those who will not apt to study law.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is one of those "I wish I read it before I entered law school" moments. But I read it on my break time while studying for the Bar. A great supplement to the author's academic mentoring to ace the Philippine Bar Exams. Filled with practical tips for surviving the rigors of law school. I loved the inspirational passages from various authors, may it be fiction or non-fiction. It was a delight that Atty. Lopez shared his sources for further reading.
I love the wit, humor, and terrors of law school with this book. I may not be actually planning on studying law, but I read this due to my interest in the matter. Had this borrowed to my friends who were going to attend law school, and they found it helpful.
