OMG this book was perfection. I adore pirates, I always have, so this book was right up my alley. It had all my favorite troupes:

*action and adventures on the seas
*broody and protective MMC ( who’s hot AF)

The spice was 🔥🔥 , the banter was great. The crew of The Blackwood consisted of the absolute best side characters ever. Kelly you outdid yourself with this book and thank you for giving me the opportunity to be an ARC reader

I just finished Ludi by Kelly Parker, and let me tell you…

THIS. BOOK. WAS. AN. ADVENTURE.

Ludi is a fierce, unapologetic, morally gray FMC who knows exactly who she is. She has that “I don’t give a damn” attitude on the outside, but underneath all that strength is someone who desperately wants to be loved and understood.

And I absolutely adored her.

Kelly Parker gave us a paranormal pirate adventure filled with spirits, magic, secrets, bloodshed, strong women, and enough twists and turns to keep me guessing.

Ludi is intelligent, independent, protective, sassy, and bloody as hell…AND she doesn’t hesitate when it comes to protecting the people she loves.

She was raised a pirate.

She’ll always be a pirate. 🏴‍☠️

But one of my favorite parts of this story was the found family element.

Because sometimes family isn’t about blood. It’s about the people who choose you, stand beside you, protect you, and become home. 🖤

And this crew?

They absolutely became family.

Then we have the romance…

What really stood out to me was how the story keeps revealing secrets and uncovering new twists. Just when you think you understand what’s happening…

NOPE. HERE’S ANOTHER SECRET. SERIOUSLY!

Overall, This book gave me the kind of adventure I wanted when I was younger!

Fantasy of pirates, danger, magic, found family, and women who absolutely refuse to take shit from anyone.

If you love fantasy, paranormal adventures, pirates, morally gray FMCs, enemies-to-lovers, touch-her-and-die energy, banter, tension, found family, and epic adventures…

This just skyrocketed into one of my top reads for the entire year.

Ludi is a fantastic read that more than delivers on every promise it makes. You get all of the action, intensity, and swashbuckling you expect from a pirate tale, but there is so much more packed into this.

You have a genuine enemies to lovers ARC between two intense, badass characters that feels natural and earned. And when they come together? Fireworks. The crew and side characters are so well-developed and add layers of humor and tenderness of a found family.

But deeper still, Kelly explores the idea of generational curses, identity, family, and what it means to stand as who you are, regardless of where or who you came from.

I want to say more, but I won't, because I don't want to ruin anything.

This hits you right in the heart.

I received this as an ARC. I have never read a pirate themed book, so I was not exactly sure what to expect. But boy did Kelly Parker deliver on this book. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Ludi the book and Ludi the MFC. She is spunky and smart, doesn't let anyone mess with her or the people she cares for. She is my spirit animal and who I aspire to be. I could not put this book down and am feening for book 2!!!!

I absolutely loved this book.

For a story with pirates, curses, storms, mystery, danger and so much happening around its characters, the heart of Ludi was always Ludi and Kai and that was exactly what made this work so well for me.

They’re both so guarded and carrying their own hurt, and I loved watching them slowly break down each other’s walls. You know where their relationship is heading, but the destination was never really the point. It was everything it took to get them there. Their relationship developed in a way that felt natural and, most importantly, earned.
Kelly Parker writes characters SO well. They’re funny, flawed, messy and incredibly believable. I laughed so many times reading this, had goosebumps more than once, and became ridiculously attached to not only Ludi and Kai, but the entire Blackwater Crew.
The found family was easily one of my favourite parts. Watching Ludi begin to care for them and then deliberately pull away because caring meant she suddenly had something to lose genuinely hurt. She was trying to protect herself and them but you could feel the hole it left behind.

There were mysteries running underneath everything, particularly around Ludi’s past, the storms and what happened to the Tempest, but I loved that they never overshadowed the characters. I wasn’t sitting there trying to solve every piece of the story or predict how everything would come together. I was completely happy just being along for the ride and somewhere around the halfway point, I realised I genuinely couldn’t put it down.

And that ending?! I was NOT expecting everything to come together the way it did.
My biggest problem now is that I’ve finished a book that isn’t even out yet and apparently I’m just supposed to patiently wait for the next one?!
Absolutely not. I need more of the Blackwater Crew immediately. 🏴‍☠️

Omg wow. This book is phenomenal; it has impacted me in a very emotional way. I laughed and at one point I shouted out the word no at what I just read. The FMC is strong, and she is also a little bit sassy in a good way. She’s the kind of person who really knows what she wants and desires. The MMC, Kaiser, is a bit morally grey, and he cares deeply about his crew and his found family. It’s a slow burn, and I love their story; it’s amazing. I loved Rory—he is funny and an incredible side character. This involves pirates and ships, slow burn, found family, and incredibly witty banter between the crew. I love Kelly Parker's writing style; it is very unique, and I love it.

I loved this book SO much! 😍 The action, the adventure, the story, and these characters had me completely hooked. This was a masterpiece!!

The found family was one of my favorites. Their banter was freaking hilarious, and I loved every interaction between them. 😂 There’s just something about a good found family trope that makes a book feel extra special. I loved them all Rory, Francis, Maren, August and Elias.

Ludi was my first pirate read. It was everything I wanted and more!!! The banter between Ludi & Kai was unmatched. I was kicking my feet giggling with how much she pushed back. Ludi was a strong FMC which we of course love. Kai was a grump that has a soft spot for one person. The twists, the turns, the storm wielding was written so perfectly!!

Apparently all it took was ONE book to officially put me in my pirate era. 🏴‍☠️🌊
Ludi was my first pirate read, and as someone who has always loved Pirates of the Caribbean, I had such a good time with this.
Ludi completely stole the show for me. The entire time I was reading, I kept thinking that she felt like the female version of Captain Jack Sparrow. She has that same chaotic, zero-fucks-given energy where you're never entirely sure whether she has an actual plan or is simply going to cause enough chaos that somehow everything works out. 😂 She's sarcastic, reckless, funny, and can make light of a situation when she probably REALLY shouldn't.
But don't mistake the humor for weakness.
Just like Jack, underneath all that chaos is someone far more capable and dangerous than people give her credit for. Ludi might be smiling in the face of danger, but she'll also absolutely fuck you up if necessary. I LOVE an FMC who doesn't need anyone to save her, and Ludi gave me exactly that.
Then you add Kaiser Crowe…the monster hunter sent to capture the very woman he's eventually forced to work alongside and obviously I was invested. I really enjoyed watching their dynamic develop as the story progressed, especially with Ludi being... well, Ludi. 😂
But what really sold this book for me was the atmosphere. Pirates, ships, storms, secrets, found family, danger, and a sea that seems to have a mind of its own. I loved the idea that everyone views Ludi as a curse while the story slowly asks whether perhaps the sea isn't punishing everyone around her at all.
Maybe it's protecting what belongs to it. 🌊
For my first pirate fantasy, this absolutely worked for me. Give me a badass FMC, dark secrets, dangerous waters and a little romance and apparently I'm ready to board the ship.

This was my first Kelly Parker book and it will not be my last. This was an unexpected chokehold. Pirates - Check, Grumpy Sunshine - Check, heart racing action - Check.

Ludi is a fiesty, take no ish, strong, independent FMC. Living her entire life plagued by a curse she doesn't understand. Thrown into the sea as a baby, the sea claimed her as her own. She was raised by pirates and is know across the waters as Stormblood. Nobody dares mess with her for fear of the wrath of the sea. After a tragedy claims her ship and crew she knew as her only family, she survives on her own the only way she knows how....as a pirate. Until one night after a particularly good win at a hand of poker, she is stopped dead in her tracks by a bounty hunting pirate captain.

Kai is brooding, gruff and incredibly good looking. Thats the kind of combo I can get behind! He was hired to find her and bring her a man who wants her contained. Somewhere along the long trip to turn her over, something changes. He decides he doesn't want to give her up. Can he have her? Will she stay with him?

This ARC was probably one of my favorites this year! I could not out it down. Stayed up late reading "one more chapter" just to turn around and immediately grab it when I woke up. I devoured this book in 1 day. 24 hours! All I can say is once this beauty releases snatched it up, you will NOT regret it!

This is my first book from Kelly Parker, and it will absolutely not be my last! I was hooked into this one immediately!

I absolutely love Ludi! She is strong, independent, and just a total baddie! Honestly, my favorite kind of FMC. Now add in that she is a female pirate and that she has been living her life with a curse that she doesn't understand, belonging to the sea, and it just elevates her character even more.

Kai is a mercenary that has been hired to capture her. He is broody, arrogant, and just an overall arsehole. He's been told to fear Ludi, as he should, but for the wrong reasons. He definitely did not expect what he got. And watching him fall first? Loved it!

Never in my life did I think I would say in a group of people "I will catch up in a bit, I am in the middle of a pirate battle", but I sure did, and a great battle it was! Loved all of the action that we got. It really helped keep the pacing on point and me hooked into the story.

The Blackwater crew and the found family in this one was one of my favorite parts. I am definitely a sucker for found family, and this crew was the best.

If you're looking for a pirate romantasy that explores generational curses, has great action, found family, wonderful MCs with a total baddie FMC, then I definitely recommend you check this one out! Huge thank you to Kelly for the early copy to read!

This was my very first read from this author and my first pirate book, period—and it did not disappoint! I had the pleasure of receiving this as an advanced reader copy, and I’m so excited that I applied!

From the very beginning, this book captivated me with the origin story of our badass pirate, Ludi. Ludi had me dying of laughter throughout this story. She is a true FMC who embodies, “I can do bad all by myself.” She takes nothing from no one, and yet she is just as kind as can be when she’s in the midst of a conversation.

I also absolutely adore Kaiser. Like, he is definitely a pirate I would want to climb. 😂 He has his own past and his own troubles, and he fights back with Ludi, giving us that true enemies-to-lovers arc that I love. And did I mention that their journey starts with him kidnapping her?! Yet, he would do anything for her, and she would do the same for him. 🥹

This book opens the door for a Book 2, but it doesn’t leave you yearning for an abundance of answers. There was closure, with a sprinkle of clues left in the epilogue. 👀

Overall, I ate this story up! Every time I picked it up, I was entranced by the storyline and characters. I do know that Kelly is notorious for making her readers cry, and I must say, I shed a tear simply because I was so engrossed in the story. I genuinely felt their pain, which is exactly why I would recommend this book!

If you’re looking for a badass FMC, a brooding MMC, found family, and an adventure-filled journey, then you will absolutely love this one! 🏴‍☠️❤️‍🔥📚

I’ve been reading pirate romance for decades. This one ranks right up there with the best. What made it even better for me was the fantasy aspect that took it from what I was used to reading straight into my love of romantic fantasy.

Ludi our FMC has all the qualities a terrifying woman should. She’s brave, loyal, fierce and not a bit afraid to take what she wants.

Oh Kaiser…the MMC I didn’t know I was looking for this year! He’s just as fierce and brave a true equal for Ludi and the way he grows and faces his past to open his emotions and show her why and who he is, I loved him from the start.

And when he apologizes he does it well 😉

The side characters in this story made me love them from the start and so did Ludi. Found family is the absolute best, I loved that Ludi not only found her love but her home and her family.

The banter was incredible, the mystery was satisfying and overall this is a book I’m so glad I got to read. Now I can’t wait to see what’s next for our Blackwater crew.

Then Kaiser Crowe, a pirate mercenary, takes her, and their banter immediately had me HOOKED. The tension, the back-and-forth, and the found family Ludi discovers after losing her own years ago absolutely got me. 🥹

This book made me laugh, cry, get pissed off, and root for Ludi the entire damn time.

I loved this book so much! This was an adventure I genuinely didn’t want to end.

I completely devoured this book. Kelly did an amazing job making me feel like I was actually alongside these characters. The pacing was perfect—we got all the background and world-building we needed without it feeling dragged out, and then we were right into the story. The fight scenes were definitely some of my favorites. 🤌⚔️

And Ludi’s inner monologue had me laughing SO hard. 😂

This book has everything you would want in a pirate romance --> an old curse, tension between our MMC and FMC you could cut with a knife, danger, action, adventure and a lot of drama. While our handsome MMC is protective and has no problem backing up our feisty FMC Ludi she is a firecracker and can handle her own and proves it time and time again.

The back and forth between our couple had so much tension, you just knew when they finally gave in it was going to be fireworks!!

Kaiser and Ludi both have trouble trusting others and letting their guards down but once someone is in... they are in, Love the found family aspect of this story the Blackwater crew were awesome and I loved how some of them took Ludi's side during some of these arguments right away it shows that sometimes the family choose yourself is so much better than the one you were born into... and Ludi's father! Seriously what is wrong with this guy!! ugh!

Listen. If you know me, you know I love everything ocean/siren/pirate related. So when I found out about the arc team for this, I was locked tf in. I wanna be clear, there’s absolutely no disappointment on my end about this book. I LOVED the story. So lemme try to break down my rating a little bit better.

The major MAJOR thing for me, was the length. I just felt like it needed more. Not that I WANTED more of it, that the story itself NEEDED more. I remember the moment Ludi had the epiphany of “I loved him”. Yes, it was 62% into the book. But it literally felt like it came out of nowhere. Yes there was banter and tension and etc… But love?!? It was sudden. So sudden my eyebrows jumped up reading the scene.

Another “minor” thing (depending on your take). The sex scene at 89% in… With exactly 2 spanks as foreplay, “Then he slammed into me.” Nah. Hurt me a bit just reading it.

Maybe I should’ve listened my “loves” and “did not love” moments, I’m sorry… Anyways, I LOVED the found family aspect. The side characters Francis, August, Rory, even Maren… I sometimes loved them more than I loved Kai.

So overall, GENUINELY I just think it would’ve benefitted from being a longer story. But I still LOVED the story.

I absolutely DEVOURED this book!

Let me just say… Ludi is officially one of my favorite FMCs! She is a badass, hilarious, sassy, fearless pirate who gives absolutely zero fucks and does whatever the hell she wants. 😂 The things she says and does had me laughing out loud more times than I can count.

And Kai?! 🔥🔥🔥

He’s the broody, asshole mercenary pirate sent to capture Ludi… only to discover that she is WAY more than he bargained for. 😂 He definitely falls first, and watching both of them fight their feelings was SO much fun.

There’s also a really unique twist involving the sea that I absolutely loved. I won’t spoil it, but it added something really cool to the story.

And can we talk about Chapter 25?! The apology was honestly THE BEST. And then the way Ludi woke him up afterward? SAVAGE. HILARIOUS. PERFECT. 🤣

The found family in this book was everything. 🥹❤️ I absolutely loved the entire Blackwater crew. The banter between the crew was fantastic, and the banter between Ludi and Kai was even better. Their chemistry had me hooked!

And yes… the spice was 🔥🔥🔥

One last thing…

Ludi’s bio father? A certified POS asshat. 😂 That’s all I’m going to say because I refuse to spoil anything!

I honestly don’t know where to start with this one because I absolutely loved it!

The writing was so beautifully done and completely pulled me into the story. The characters were incredible, and one of my favourite things was how much you end up bonding with even the side characters. They didn’t feel like filler characters—they each had their own personalities and brought something to the story, which made me care about them so much more.

And the MMC… 🥵 Absolutely to die for. I was hooked from the moment he appeared. The chemistry, the tension, the whole pirate aesthetic… YES PLEASE. 🏴‍☠️

But Ludi herself deserves a massive shoutout. She is such a strong, resilient FMC, especially considering everything she has been through. Watching her navigate everything thrown at her while still finding that strength within herself made me really connect with her character.

This book had everything I want from a pirate romantasy—adventure, romance, incredible characters, tension and a world that completely sucked me in.

The author seriously knows how to write badass FMCs who take absolutely no shit, and Ludi might be one of my favorites. She’s fearless, sassy, and completely herself. She makes no apologies for who she is. But underneath all of that, there’s also this part of her that just wants to belong and find people who truly choose her. I loved getting to see every side of her. I also loved watching her grow and open up.

Then there’s Kai and he's everything I want in an MMC. He's sent to capture her, and he was definitely not ready for her lol. Their chemistry was amazing and the author knows how to write good banter, and the spice was spicing ;).

Crowe is just the right amount of mean (he’s a pirate 🤷‍♀️), and I love a “he falls first and harder trope. He’ll definitely hurt a person for Ludi, but also knows she’s capable of doing the hurting.

The pirate atmosphere was immersive, and fun.
The side characters bring this book together to make everything about it enjoyable. The side characters feel just as important as the main ones.

I’d marry Francis, and live happily ever after.

Kelly brought the spice in this one, and man it was hot!

If pirate romantasy, strong heroines, and spicy romance are your thing, then 💯 place this on your TBR list ASAP!

I was honored to arc read Ludi! Kelly Parker wrote yet another amazing book! I have never read a pirate book before, but I LOVE THIS! I was fully immersed in the pirate life on The Blackwater! Ludi is absolutely my favorite FMC! She is strong, independent, intelligent, doesn’t take shit from anyone, knows who she is and is proud of it, and very loyal! She feels everything so deeply but as a pirate she can’t show it.
The found family in this book really got me. Not only was she blessed with one but two families.
Ludi’s relationship with Francis was so amazing to witness. She saw him when most people didn’t. She cared and tried and showed her true self to him and he showed himself to her in return. The protective instinct she had for others was nothing short or amazing. I loved the side characters and how they really played into helping Ludi and Crowe grow.
This just goes to show that Kelly is truly a talented author and puts everything into her books. You can see and feel it all. That is a gift that is cherished and everyone should know about.

Well, this story was amazing! Kelly Parker knows how to write stories with the most fearless, strong, badass females! I love how her books portray such women.

This is the story of Ludi, she was thrown away as a child, saved and taken in by found family that taught her what she was worth. Believing she was cursed by the sea, she ventures toward her new beginning, all while fighting and eventually finding her truth. Meeting a dangerous, yet determined pirate that knew her story at first but had some ulterior motives that eventually turned into respect. He would soon fight to protect and love her anyway.

This is a must read, you will love these characters and their dynamics and the story that unfolds.

The way I was immersed into this world was crazy. I devoured this book. Kelly did an amazing job at making me feel like I was there. The pacing was perfect, we got all the background needed without repetition or it dragging on. The fight scenes were my favorite, the way I could picture every movement and Ludi holding her own the whole time! (Love me a strong independent FMC) Plus her inner monologue omg I was laughing so hard! This was the perfect mix of plot, spice, and sass! I can't wait to see what happens next!

I am still trying to find the right words to put into this review. This was epic, and beautiful. It contained heartache, heartbreak, angst, tension, love, betrayal, and PIRATES. Badass FMC who takes no sh!t and no prisoners. An MMC that is every pirate lovers dream, and the undercurrent of it all was spectacular (pun intended).

Kelly, I don't know how you seem to write pure perfection each and every time, but once again, you have blown me away. I flew through these pages like my life depended on it. Thank you for blessing this world with your gift and talent.

Ok. I just finished doing an ARC read on this book. Wow. What a good story.
Well written spicey scenes (first one was emotionally intense).
Great character development.
The scene descriptions were really well done.
The ending for sure had a sweeping conclusion that brought it all “home”. IYKYK. I could definitely hear the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song in my head as it ended.
Overall it was a great book that I will be totally recommending!!
