Still not done…

Fortunately this is a KU read because this series is endless. Rage is primarily about Saint and Amy. There is also Roman who “saved” her from her parent, but who has SA’d her because he thinks he owns her. Plus there is Simon who seems to think Saint should stay away from Amy.

This has got a bunch of stuff that has already happened if I remember right. That Solokov (sp?) kid and what happened in the previous book is in here. I’m always a little confused by these timelines because then I feel like I need to go back and plot everything out again.

I bought the first five. The next two are KU thankfully. I’m no longer sure I need to continue this journey. I do like this author but I’m sorry, I no longer care where this is going…

Rage by Carmen Rosales is the kind of story that settles under your skin and lingers long after you've turned the last page. There's a constant sense that something terrible is waiting just beyond the next chapter, and that tension never truly lets go. The atmosphere is heavy, unsettling, and filled with a quiet darkness that pulls you deeper the further you read. The characters feel haunted by their choices, making every confrontation and revelation hit even harder.

The only reason I'm holding back that final half star is the repeated use of certain phrases. While they may have been intended to reinforce the mood, seeing the same wording appear so frequently occasionally broke the spell and distracted from the otherwise immersive experience.

Even so, Rage is a gripping, sinister read that embraces the darker corners of human emotion. It's haunting, intense, and difficult to forget—a story that leaves echoes behind long after it's over.

I have officially finished Rage, and apparently Carmen Rosales decided I didn’t need peace, sanity, or emotional stability today.

SAINT. Freaking. SAINT. 😳

This man is not morally gray. He looked at the moral compass, smashed it, set it on fire, and then probably asked Amy why she was looking at anyone besides him. 🚩😂

But underneath all that darkness, obsession, and rage is a character who completely pulled me in. The more I learned about Saint—what happened to him, what shaped him, and why he is the way he is—the more I needed to keep reading.

And then there’s Amy. I loved watching her story unfold and seeing how she handled being caught in a world where figuring out who she can actually trust might be the most dangerous decision of all.

And AZRIEL?! Sir. 😭

The tension between Amy, Saint, and Azriel had me STRESSED. Every time I thought I knew where things were going, something happened that made me question everything again.

One of my favorite things about the Prey series has always been that Carmen doesn’t give us nice, shiny, perfectly packaged characters. These people are damaged. They have secrets. They make questionable decisions. And the men? Half the time you’re trying to decide whether you want to hug them, run from them, or schedule them an emergency therapy appointment. 😂

Rage absolutely lived up to its name. It was dark, obsessive, twisted, emotional, and completely addictive.

Saint may be one giant walking red flag…

…but unfortunately red appears to be my favorite color. 🚩🖤😂

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you’ve read Rage, I have one question:

SAINT OR AZRIEL? 👀

Choose carefully. I’m judging. 😂

GUYS.

WE HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEMATIC MAN.

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

And by problematic, I mean this man is so far beyond morally gray that the color chart has been discontinued.

His name is Saint, which is quite possibly the most disrespectful use of that word I’ve ever encountered.

Because that man is no saint.

He’s unhinged.

Obsessive.

Possessive.

Dangerous.

Violent.

Has been hidden away from the world for years.

And is completely fucking feral over ONE woman.

So obviously…

MY PANTIES HAVE FILED FOR NEW MANAGEMENT.

😮‍💨

Listen.

I know.

I KNOW.

At some point we need to have a serious conversation about why fictional men who require maximum-security containment continue to make me weak in the knees.

Today is not that day.

Because Saint came crawling out of whatever basement Carmen Rosales has been storing him in and I immediately said:

Oh no. He’s insane. 😍

Apparently I have learned NOTHING.

Amy changes schools hoping for a fresh start after everything she’s been through.

Cute.

Adorable.

Love that for her.

Unfortunately, she’s in the Prey universe, so peace was never actually an option.

Instead she gets a brutal attack, blackouts, mysterious poems slipped under her door, someone watching her…

AND TWO BROTHERS.

One who’s sworn to protect her.

And one who’s basically decided:

That’s my girl. Everyone else can die.

HELLO, SAINT.

🚩😮‍💨

And listen, I love an obsessed MMC.

You guys KNOW this.

Give me a man who memorizes her coffee order? Cute.

A man who sends flowers? Adorable.

A man who watches her from the shadows and develops an absolutely deranged level of attachment?

Now we’re getting somewhere.

Therapy has failed us.

Let’s continue.

Because Saint isn’t just obsessed with Amy.

This man’s entire operating system appears to be:

AMY.

That’s it.

No additional applications running.

And THEN Carmen has the AUDACITY to make this terrifying man gentle with her???

Absolutely fucking not.

Because you can give me a violent man.

You can give me an obsessive man.

You can give me a possessive man.

But when you give me a man capable of absolute brutality who handles her like she’s something precious???

I AM NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ACTIONS.

There is a moment where this enormous, scarred, violent man wraps a towel around her shoulders and carefully tucks it beneath her chin.

Sir.

SIR.

PUT THE GENTLENESS DOWN.

That’s my weakness.

😩

And then this psychopath starts saying things like:

“My favorite girl.”

Oh.

Okay.

Great.

Fantastic.

I guess I’ll just throw my standards directly into traffic.

But WAIT.

Because apparently Carmen thought Saint wasn’t enough of an attack on my already questionable taste in fictional men.

Enter:

AZRIEL.

ANOTHER BROTHER.

Because why ruin my mental stability with one man when we can make it a family affair?

Azriel is sworn to protect Amy.

Saint is obsessed with claiming her.

And I’m sitting there like:

Have we considered that perhaps I shouldn’t be responsible for choosing?

👀

Because the tension between Amy, Saint, and Azriel???

DISRESPECTFUL.

Every five minutes I was changing my mind.

Trust him.

NO. DON’T TRUST HIM.

Wait, maybe trust HIM.

Actually trust nobody.

Amy, RUN.

But not too far because Saint said:

“Try not to run…”

And followed it with:

“The best part of being Prey is the chase.”

EXCUSE THE FUCK OUT OF ME???

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

That sentence should have triggered a survival instinct.

Instead I was like:

Ohhhh. 👀

Ladies and gentlemen, we have officially lost the plot.

And possibly our dignity.

What really worked for me was the constant sense of unease throughout this book.

Something ALWAYS feels wrong.

Like you’re waiting for the next secret to explode.

Waiting for someone to betray someone.

Waiting for Saint to completely lose whatever tiny thread of sanity he’s still pretending to possess.

And when we start learning more about what happened to him?

Fuck.

Because underneath all that rage is someone who was completely shaped by what was done to him.

Does that excuse his behavior?

Absolutely fucking not.

Did I become approximately 73% more interested in him?

Unfortunately.

Yes.

This is why we’re here.

The characters in this series aren’t nice, shiny little packages wrapped in bows.

They’re damaged.

Haunted.

Manipulative.

Traumatized.

Secretive.

And approximately three bad decisions away from a felony at any given moment.

HOME. 🖤

Now, this was a 4-star read instead of five for me because some of the phrasing became repetitive.

I understood the intention behind it—the repeated language contributes to that haunting, obsessive feeling—but after a while I started noticing it enough that it pulled me out of the story.

And once my brain notices repetition?

It’s over.

I’ll spot that shit from three counties away.

BUT THE REST???

The obsession.

The darkness.

The suspense.

The secrets.

The fucked-up family dynamics.

The morally bankrupt men.

The constant feeling that something terrible is about to happen.

GIVE IT TO ME.

Because apparently my reading taste continues to be:

Would this man terrify me in real life?

Yes?

Perfect.

Five minutes, no witnesses.

Saint isn’t morally gray.

Saint isn’t even morally black.

Saint’s moral compass has been reported missing, presumed dead, and I’m pretty sure he’s the prime suspect.

And unfortunately?

I’m attracted to the suspect.

Again.

At this point, nobody should be surprised.

The redder the flag, the faster I apparently fucking run toward it. 🚩🏃🏻‍♀️💨

So now that Carmen Rosales has once again assaulted my moral compass, I need answers:

SAINT OR AZRIEL? 👀

Choose wisely.

Personally, I’ll be over here making a decision based on absolutely nothing resembling good judgment.

Rage is the seventh book in Carmen Rosales's The Prey Series. From the start, the story is tense and charged, forming an atmosphere where it feels like something is about to happen. The writing is filled with secrets and suspense, making each page feel like you are moving further into a place where trouble is brewing.

Her characters seem weighed down by their pasts, and their pain is clear in their actions and words. When the truth comes out, it shatters the uneasy calm they have managed to create.

Occasionally, a familiar phrase appears and briefly reminds you of life outside the story. But these moments are brief, and the story stays gripping throughout.

Rage explores the deeper, more difficult parts of human nature, dragging you under the surface into murkier waters that mean to be human. Even after finishing the book, its impact stays with you. The story reminds us of the hidden struggles people often carry.

A few of my favorite quotes are:

“Try not to run..”…..“The best part of being Prey is the chase.”

“My favorite girl.”

“You’ve always needed space before realizing you belong with me.”

“You survived all of them,” he says softly…..”

He moves slowly like I’m wounded. He wraps the towel around my shoulders, tucking it close beneath my chin. His hands are enormous, scarred, gentle. That is what ruins me when he’s around. The violence I know lives in him is replaced by the gentleness I don’t understand.

This is a heavy read filled with a darkness you can’t ignore. The suspense of waiting for the shoe to drop, of something terrible going to happen, had me turning the pages completely engaged in the plot! The characters are plagued by the past mistakes. I was pulled into this dark, emotional. intense story. I couldn’t put it down! A story that leaves shadows behind shadows in the dark. Pulling at your heart.

Rage is book 7 in the series, and once again Carmen Rosales delivers a story full of danger, obsession, and high-stakes tension. This installment follows a deadly game of predator vs. prey, where trust is a luxury and survival means embracing the darkness.

This series continues to pull me in with its addictive mix of dark romance, a morally gray hero, intense chemistry, and the predator/prey dynamic (which I’m always here for). The suspense kept me turning the pages, and I loved seeing the story unfold.

While Rage isn’t my favorite book in the series, it was still a solid read and another great addition to a world I’ve completely pulled into. Every book brings something different while keeping the same gripping atmosphere that makes this series so hard to put down.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/4

If you love dark romance with morally gray characters, dangerous obsession, and edge-of-your-seat tension, this series is worth adding to your TBR.

Well this explained just what The Order has been doing & who Saint the lost son is. This story sucked me in from page one as I tried piecing things together of what I remembered from the other stories in the series. I still think Azriel needs to figure himself out & find himself some happiness. This was about who Saint is to the Order and how it began for him. Honestly, I dont know how he managed to keep it together, but he did have one thing...her. Amy has gone from one bad situation to what she thought was her saving grace with Roman only to find out that was not to be, so she knows she has to get out of there and go somewhere he won't find her...welcome to Kenyan University where being a scholarship student puts you as... prey. I couldnt put it down as I kept reading I had to find out what was happenjng next. If you've been reading the series don't miss this last book in the Prey Series. Now we just have to wait for her next series from this world.

This is book seven in the Prey series and while you could read this installment as a standalone, reading the other books in the series prepares you for the dynamics affecting these characters.

That said, this installment delves into Amy and Saint’s story.
Super dark, sultry and haunting, this story was so intense I was at times stunned by what I was reading.
Twisted and emotional, this is a book about rage and what happens when you’ve been wronged, and the lengths you’ll go to, and these characters have a lot of that .
I’ve been a huge fan of this series and I was so excited to read this installment, and overall I enjoyed it. However, maybe it’s a me issue and maybe it’s because I had not read the last 2 installments, I was at times a bit lost by what was happening, you read and decide.

This is the 7th book in this phenomenal series.
Amy changed schools for a fresh start, but things do not go the way she intended. Saint is unhinged, dangerous, calculating, and consumed by rage after being hidden and locked away for years, while his brother Azriel, has sworn to protect Amy. Who will Amy choose to trust between the two brothers?
This is a well written action-packed story, with family dynamics, friendships, emotions, tension, obsession, suspense, intrigue, making choices, and trust, which leads to an entertaining, haunting, twisted, unpredictable, and thrilling, dark and intense romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

This book is about Saint and Amy. I do not even know how much I can say and not give something away. This book starts and does not slow down until you reach the end. It is dark and twisted and really intense. Amy has moved to a new school to get a fresh start. However, things do not go as she had hoped they would and she soon finds herself being protected and wanted by Saint. This is the seventh book in this series, and I really hope that if you have read none of those that you go back and do that so that you understand all of this book. I loved it and I am so glad that I got to read it.

Saint isn’t wired like other people and I he has no compass until he meets Amy, his north star!
The one thing that can confuse in this series is the timeline as it crosses with the earlier books. I would advise to read them first so the whole series story arc becomes clear.
I have loved this series from the first page of book one and this book is no exception. This is a great conclusion to the series.

I had no idea that this was a part of a series…that would explain some of my confusion throughout. But overall, I loved how dark this was. Amy went through a lot. And the brothers were just wild. Talk about some back and forth. This was intriguing and kept me turning the pages. The twists and turns were great. This was a great read. Now I’ll go back and read the others.

I loved this series but book 7 is awful. No spice. The story felt super slow or rushed with gaps. I held out and kept coming back to try and finish but I fell asleep multiple times! Finally I finished and it was a complete and total waste. Very disappointed. 👎

This was not my favorite book of the series. It was hard to get into and the writing felt different from the others. It could also be that I feel like I'm gravitating away from the dark academia trope, which used to be my favorite and this series was so spaced out. It was suspenseful though, but no spice. She's still a fave author of mine.

That was an interesting conclusion. I felt like the series took a shift after the 5th book ultimately leading to this point. I had hoped this one would mean Azriel would find his love interest, dude keeps getting friendzoned. I liked how the ending came together.
