An age gap, best friend’s father, one bed motorcycle club romance? Um heck YES. I ate this up. Logan & Smoke have chemistry from the second Smoke bails Logan and his daughter out of jail. The next morning, Logan dumps her absolute jerk of an ex (and girl, she went out with a bang) and decides to move down to Waco with her best friend, but getting down there means roadtripping with her best friend’s dad who’s driving the moving truck. As these two spend time together, their attraction becomes unavoidable. They decide on one night together and they’re fire. But one night isn’t enough, feelings grow, and they can’t stay away. The chemistry is delicious. Smoke had me swooning hard with how protective he is and how hard he fell for Logan. I was panicked when Logan’s past came back again (definitely check the content warnings on this one), I was living for the Edith and Harry cameos throughout the book, and my heart was happy to spend so much time with the Tarnished Angels, especially their Old Ladies, as Logan got to know them and spent more time with Smoke. This is one of my most favorite found families. And can we talk about Logan’s actual family?! Because her brothers killed me and had me laughing so hard, even during the hard moments. As I’ve done with the rest of this series, I absolutely binged this book, and I cannot wait for more!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: taboo: best friends dad
Angst: 😱😱😱1/2
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely freaking loved it - definitely one of my fave of the series! I sat down to read it and literally did not get up until I finished. Very well written and fast paced, it was a pretty angsty read that touches on some very heavy topics. It's done with care, but if you're a sensitive reader, you may want to check the triggers, there were some white knuckle moments for sure. On the flip side, the antics and banter will have you laughing out loud and there's a girl gang you can only dream of in real life. The chemistry between Smoke and Logan was so hot it was practically tangible. Despite the story being from her perspective only, you could still easily tell it was a case of him falling first. He is so super protective and everything that Logan needed him to be. The character development in these books are phenomenal and Emma sincerely makes you want a story for every character she introduces.

I swear each book in this series gets better and better! Duet narration with Helena Walters and Troy Duran was fabulous. 5 stars all the way. Helena was a new to me narrator, and she absolutely blew me away.

Fans of age gap, best friend's dad, found family, motorcycle club, and forbidden romance will enjoy this book.

You have a smoking hot "older" but not really old biker and his 20 something daughter's best friend driving from Las Vegas to Waco. They know things should not happen, but you know how things like that end up. LOL
Characters were well written and the storyline was perfection. Emma is just blowing me away with this series. I can't wait to finish it up!

Thank you to Emma and Dark Star Audio for the ALC.

Fire & Frenzy — Emma Slate

Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club #6
Narrated by Troy Duran & Helena Walters
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

This was such a wild ride! I honestly wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this one when I first started, but overall, I really enjoyed Smoke and Logan’s story.

I’m usually not a huge fan of a big age gap or the best friend’s dad trope, but I actually thought it was done really well here. The beginning hooked me immediately and moved FAST. Then the middle slowed down quite a bit for me. It started to feel repetitive, and there were stretches where I felt like not much was happening. But those last couple of hours? SO GOOD. Everything picked back up, things got intense and completely wild, and I was fully invested again.

I think the biggest thing I was missing was the MC itself. One of my favorite parts of this series is getting all the club action the guys together, what they’re doing on the road, the jobs, the other couples popping in, and getting those glimpses of our favorite old ladies. Since Smoke is newer to this chapter and came in from out of state, this story takes a step back from a lot of that. Instead, it really focuses on Smoke and Logan and the development of their relationship.

While I liked them together, they probably aren’t going to rank among my favorite couples from the series. I wanted a little more happening around them and a little more of that Tarnished Angels MC world that I’ve grown to love.

That being said, I still really enjoyed the premise, and Emma Slate’s writing continues to work so well for me. The execution of the relationship itself was great; it was really the pacing through the middle that kept this from being a higher-rated read.

And Troy Duran and Helena Walters performing this in duet narration was such a good choice. They brought Smoke and Logan’s story to life and made those intense final hours even better.

Overall, another solid addition to the Tarnished Angels series just a little slower and more relationship-focused than I personally prefer from my MC romances.

The depth given to Smoke is so subtle that when his alpha male shines through it grabs you by the throat with its intensity and doesn’t let go. Started this ARC as soon as it came through and stayed up all night to finish it. I love the world built around the Tarnished Angels and how Emma drops us in like we never left with every new book.

OBSESSED!!! This series it’s absolutely delicious! I have loved every bit of it so far. The men in the Tarnished Angels MC are all so swoony! Smoke is Logan’s best friend’s dad! They go on a road trip together to move her to Waco with Tavy after Logan found out her boyfriend was a cheater. On the trip sparks fly when they are alone in a hotel during a storm. This story is full of emotion, love, found family, hurt feelings, spice, and a bit of suspense. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to be released on audio too! This audio was exceptional. Troy Duran and Helena Walters did superb bringing this story to life. They narrate with such heart and emotion that it really pulls you into the story. ARC review:

Just when I think I have a new favourite book in the series, another one is releases and throws a spanner in the works.
This book has quite a few sensible topics which were all treated with such care and understanding.

Smoke was a delicious mix of sexy bad boy meets protective father figure. And Logan was such a badass.

My favourite passage:
“They just told us the secret to a long and happy marriage is a ton of hanky panky. And I just hankied your panky.”

ALC Review

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Smoke and Logan!!!!!!!!

Give me an MC series and I am SAT!!!! Usually, I'm skeptical about committing to a series with more than 4 or 5 books because they tend to lose me with the plot. However, Emma Slate is putting pure crack in these books because the Tarnished Angels have had me in a complete chokehold since book 1! Like seriously, how are these stories so good?

Here we have book 6 and dare I say, it is now my fav!!!!! Why you ask? AGE GAP (17 years) &&& BEST FRIEND'S DAD!!!!! Need I say more? 🤭🤤🥰

All jokes aside, one of my favorite elements of this series is that while it centers around the illicit behavior of the biker club, Emma Slate does such an incredible job of humanizing each member and making you champion their love stories. One chapter could literally be in the middle of a drug raid with the cartel, but here I am hoping they wrap things up to make it home for the BBQ with the old ladies 🤦🏾‍♀️🥰!

I think this story stood out to me so much because even with the taboo nature of Smoke being the dad of Logan's best friend, you could instantly tell that Smoke had been waiting his whole life to meet a woman like her. He became a father at 17, and due to a bad breakup with the mom, he was forced to stay away and only provide financially for his daughter....it felt like a beautiful twist of fate for his daughter to meet Logan in college, become best friends, and decide to move closer to her dad in order to reconnect. Throw in the fact that Logan was newly single from an abusive relationship and the story writes itself.

With each new story, the found family within the Tarnished Angels continues to grow. It was so sweet to see the old ladies embrace not only Smoke's daughter, but Logan as well, simply because of her proximity to Smoke. Little did they know just how close they really were LOL! Needless to say, the Tarnished Angels may not always operate in a legal or ethical way, but their hearts are always pure.

I constantly sing his praises for every book he narrates, but Troy Duran was born to voice a biker! I finished this book in one sitting on a Saturday, partly for how good the story was, but mostly because I couldnt get enough of him in my ears! This was my first experience with Helena Walters and together, they performed a phenomenal duet!

As always, huge thanks to Dark Star Romance for the ALC opportunity! There are 2 books left in the series and I cant wait to see what else these biker boys have in store for me!

I had the opportunity to Advance listen to this amazing book from Dark Star Romance. Let me start by saying that Emma Slate did a heck of a job writing this book. The Narrators Helena Walters & Troy Duran did a phenomenal job bringing the book to life. This was one of the most amazing audiobooks I have heard this year.
Now this was about Smoke and Logan and they were to off the bet characters. I loved how Logan was smoke Cupcake from the very beginning. Even when logan didn't think she needed smoke he was there.
Logan found out her Fiancé Knox was being unfaithful and she was done. So Lolo and Tavy decided to go out and celebrate lolo new single status. they got arrested and Tavy called her dad because he was chill and wouldn't give them hell for it.
Tavy was moving to Waco to be with her dad and her new job so Logan decided to tag along and start over. P.S. the Quikrete in Knox's sink drains priceless, and smoke eating a sandwich casually while she did it even more hilarious.
so she packs up and moves and does this long road trip with smoke in Tavy's place since Tavy needed to be in Waco earlier than thought. Along the way they talk and get to know each other get closer. During one of the the stops due to the bad storm they gave in to the urges and they had a wild couples days. They tried to make it a 1 time thing but boy that was not the going to happen.
Side note: They met a couple Harry and Edith and they pretended to be married and these to older people were just so funny and wonderful. they stayed connected afterwards it was amazing.
Then they finally get to Waco to the club house and life moves on. Then old friends connect and things blossom. Sadley Tavy and logan cant live together in Tavy's apartment it to small but logan gets an apartment over one of the ol' ladies bakeries and life progresses. They become official and Tavy takes it hard her Best friend is dating her dad.
The Knox catches up to Logan and he is a total twat Goblin he finally shows his full colors. Thank goodness Logan was able to call Smoke for help. He arrives in time before Knox can hurt logan anymore than he already has. Smoke and Knox fights, Knox stabs Smoke, and smoke sends Knox to meet his maker in He$$.
Then Logans mom and dad the amazing people they are got a hotel and took care of smoke abd logan which was so sweet my heart was so happy.
I love how it ended it was amazing. Smoke was still recovering and logan and him were closing on a house and he finally made logan his ol' lady and his soon to be wife. The ring he got was amazing you need to read the book to understand the sentiment. He tattooed the vines in his ring finger to match her ring and a tiny cupcake.
Smoke was one of the best green flags regardless if he was in a MC. He may have been older but he was a total sweetheart. The way he let logan fins herself and grow was amazing. This is by far the best in the series to me but there all amazing. Emma is a phenomenal author.

Favorite Quote from this book, “Wet socks are the devil’s work.”

Fresh from catching her fiancé cheating on her, Logan makes a drastic decision to leave her former life behind, travel cross country with her best friend’s dad, and start over. While on the road trip, things get heated between Logan and Smoke.

This story has the perfect mix of building angst and rising tensions. I highly recommend this novel for mature audiences only due to sexual content and violence. Smoke is part of a motorcycle club that operates above the law, but there are many grey areas and rival gangs.

There are several things I love about this story. Logan’s friendship with Tavi is beautiful. They have wonderful banter and support one another. Tavi is outrageously hilarious with some of the things she says. (I’m hoping there will be a book about her.) In addition, I enjoyed reading about the family dynamic in this motorcycle club.

Something I would’ve liked to read in this story was more from the MC’s point of view. In particular, I would’ve liked to get his opinions as he’s witnessing the different emotions that the FMC goes through in dealing with her anger, and then of her ex cheating on her. I also would’ve liked to know his overall feelings of her in general towards the beginning of the relationship since this is an age gap and he is her best friend’s dad.

In this book, you will find the following tropes: age gap, best friend’s dad, found family, and forced proximity. It can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading all the books in the series. They are really good and entertaining!

The narrators in this story are Helena Walters and Troy Duran. Ms. Walters is a new narrator to me and I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. There are several emotional moments in this novel and she held me captive in her reading. As always, Mr. Duran portrayed the character exactly how I would imagine. Smoke is older and comes across as having a bit of gruffness to his demeaner. This is exactly how he was voiced. Troy also performed all the emotional scenes flawlessly.

I received this ALC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

🎧 Audio Review 🎧

This is the 6th book in the Tarnished Angels MC series by Emma Slate and can definitely be read as a standalone.

Logan finds out about her nasty cheating ex and goes for a binge drinking night out with her best friend, Tavy. They later find themselves being arrested and needing to be bailed out! Here comes Smoke, Tavy’s dad, to the rescue!

Logan’s ex is a dangerous abusive narcissist and the way that Logan takes out her revenge is rather brutal and something I’m not sure I agree with especially knowing the type of man he is and she was so lucky to have Smoke in her corner, when it mattered!

Tavy has arranged to drive to Waco with her dad to get to know him better, but at the last minute she’s called away for work and Logan agrees to do the trip instead. Although there is a 17 year age gap, he’s young at heart and it is clear that they belong to each other.

Then for most of the book it’s convincing Logan that they can have a relationship, then keeping their secret, trying not to upset Tavy and working out how to tell her. The book is quite slow burn and repetitive but it definitely picks up towards the end and wow! Look out for triggers!

My only comment would be that there is very little MC involvement except for the “old ladies” which is disappointing in an MC book. Having said this, I really enjoy the author’s writing and have enjoyed the series so far.

The duet narration was superb by new to me Helena Walters and of course the excellent Duran Troy.

Thank you Dark Star Romance for allowing me the pleasure of listening to this book.

Fire & Frenzy
Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club®, Book 6
By: Emma Slate
Narrated by: Troy Duran, Helena Walters

MC romance? Age Gap romance? Forced proximity? Yes please! Logan found out her fiance was cheating on her, so running to her best friend seemed like the best idea. Meeting her father, Smoke, she hitches a ride to Texas with him. The attraction is immediate and the chemistry strong, leading to a hot couple of days. That should get it all out of their systems. But now back, Logan staying in the clubhouse, the temptation is there and impossible to resist. But is it all about the spice? Slate definitely knows how to keep the passion high, but she also develops a slow building relationship. Logan was always trying to be perfect, but Smoke let her be who she is and accepted her that way. She understands him, and the two become more than just lovers. Now the question comes, will his daughter accept her best friend as her father's old lady? And what about her fiance? Does he just let her go? It's got that hint of suspense to keep it all interesting while letting my heart follow it's path! I enjoyed this one and now have to go back and listen to the others in the series!

Troy Duran and Helena Walters are the story tellers and they are perfectly cast for Smoke and Logan. Duran has that voice, the one that easily has me falling in love. His charisma shines through as Smoke, but he also has that hint of danger

A forbidden romance, a sexy biker, and a duet audiobook that had me hooked!

Logan discovering her fiancé’s affair sets the stage for a story that proves sometimes the best things happen when life takes an unexpected turn. What starts as one night with Smoke quickly becomes something neither of them can walk away from, and I was completely invested in their journey!

Smoke was everything I love in an MC romance hero. Protective, confident, possessive, and completely devoted to the woman he wants. I loved how he saw Logan beyond the polished version of herself she felt pressured to be. With Smoke, she could finally take up space, be unapologetically herself, and feel wanted for exactly who she was. Their chemistry was incredible, and the tension between them kept me turning up the volume!

The forbidden aspect of their relationship made everything even more intense. Between the age gap, the best friend’s father trope, and the motorcycle club setting, this story delivered plenty of romance, spice, and emotional moments to keep me engaged.

🎧 The audiobook narration deserves its own shout-out! Helena Walters and Troy Duran did a fantastic job bringing Logan and Smoke to life. The duet narration made the dialogue feel natural and immersive, and their performances added even more emotion and intensity to the story. It was the perfect way to experience this book!

Emma Slate delivered another entertaining installment in the Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club series. If you love forbidden romance, older possessive bikers, steamy chemistry, and a hero who makes his woman feel cherished, definitely add this one to your TBR!

Five stars from me! Smoke and Logan kept me listening, and I would happily spend more time with the Tarnished Angels MC.

Thank you to Darkstar Romance for the ALC

Well, here we are, six books into the Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club series, and I am STILL loving every minute of it! I’ve been lucky enough to receive an ALC for every book in this series so far, and Emma Slate continues to keep me coming back for more of these bikers!

Fire & Frenzy follows Smoke and Logan, and this time we’re getting an age-gap romance with the whole best friend’s father situation. Now, I do enjoy a good age-gap romance as long as it’s done right, and I definitely think this one was!

One thing I really enjoyed was the connection between Smoke and Logan right from the beginning. They both knew there was something there, and even though they tried to fight it, that attraction wasn’t going anywhere.

I also really appreciated how Smoke handled things with Logan. After everything she had been through in her previous relationship, she needed someone who would be patient with her, and Smoke was exactly that. He didn’t rush her or push her. He gave her the time and support she needed, and I loved seeing that softer side of him.

And can we talk about the old ladies for a minute? I absolutely loved getting more time with them in this book! Watching them welcome Logan into the fold and seeing those relationships continue to grow is one of the things I love about this series. The found-family aspect is always such a good addition to these stories.

Now, the one thing I did find myself missing was a little more of the actual MC action. In some of the previous books, we’ve gotten more of the guys, the club, and the action that comes along with that lifestyle. This one definitely felt a little calmer on that side of things. I would have loved a little more of that biker chaos, but getting more time with the old ladies helped make up for it.

Overall, I really enjoyed Smoke and Logan’s story. Their connection, Smoke’s patience, and Logan finding someone who truly cared about her made this one another enjoyable addition to the series.

And of course, I’m already ready for the next one because apparently six books just aren’t enough for me!

Thank you to Dark Star Romance and Emma Slate for the advanced listening copy!

“I was yours the moment I saw you,” she said softly. “I just didn’t know it yet.”

there are very very vert few people that pull off a bestfriends dad romance, and by very few i mean this is the first one ive read and not hated. i just loved it. it was one that grew on me because the first part of the book was a little more fast paced than i liked but it was a little road trip so thats understandable.

what i always love about this series is the found family. it's the loyalty to the club and their family and it gets me every single time i just love it. the men are always fierce and protective and the women are always strong and resilient.

it was very much a book of will they wont they but when they did they really did. their chemistry and bond that formed outside of the bedroom and flirty banter was just chef's kiss.

ive loved all of the tarnished angels book but i think this just took top spot.

Smoke and Logan? HOT! This couple got me good, and honestly, I loved it! Everyone knows I LOVE an age gap, add in best friends dad trope? It's an automatic 'sign me up' 😂

I love how Smoke respected Logan enough to be straight with her from the start. He doesn't mince words and doesn’t drag things out and I appreciate that from his character. He also decided what he wanted and went for it, but also respected her enough to give her the information and give her time to process it without crowding her.

Logan was kind of all over the place in the beginning. She kept going from 'I want him' to 'he's dangerous and I should stay away' but in the end, her feelings for Smoke were too strong. I also love how fiercely protective and loyal her family is, how they care for her so much and basically hopped on a flight to check on her. And her brothers? 😂 I think we need a series on them because they were funny and I love their sibling relationships! The teasing and banter is hilarious!

Troy Duran and Helena Walters narrate this one and they are definitely a great choice! Troy always brings his A-game and Helena—a new-to-me narrator—impressed me with her performance! They both fully committed to the world of the book and you could feel how they embodied the material and embraced their characters fully.

I'm excited for more of these Tarnished Angels!

Book #6 Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club series

Can I just have a moment to say Thank You Emma Slate? Seriously this book was HOT. I love a hot older biker that is rough on the outside but oh so gooey on the inside. This book has all the elements I enjoy. You are getting some laughing out loud moments, sweet moments, and all the steamy spice that I love.

Logan just found out her fiancé is cheating on her, so what does she do? Go out get drunk with her best friend landing them in a sticky situation. So, they call Smoke her best friends dad to come bail them out and the plot thickens. Logan and Smoke wind up on a road trip together. They build a connection over the trip which leads to some delicious spice. As much as these two shouldn't work together they do in such a sweet way. Smoke this big bad biker is so sweet and supportive to Logan. I love them togther.

Overall, the duet narration by Helena & Troy was performed beautifully. They are both such talented voice actors, and they brought this book to life in the best way. The story is everything I needed it to be. Character development was well done, and the overall story was such a pleasure to experience.

This is book 6 in the Tarnished Angels MC series, and I have been waiting to dive in and learn about Smoke!

I wasn't really sure how I was going to feel about this one because it has a 17-year age gap and best friend's dad, which are two tropes that are not my favorite, but I actually ended up really enjoying this one.

The audio was duet narration with Troy Duran and Helena Walters, and they did such a great job. Both of them fit their characters really well and just really helped bring the story to life.

I liked how Smoke and Logan's relationship developed. This one is pretty instant, but that is to be expected with the setting. I was hooked in from the start and was just waiting to see what was going to happen. I actually really liked Smoke and how he was there for Logan and helped her work through everything she had going on. As always, the found family vibes were there and one of my favorite things! The rest of the old ladies from the club immediately welcoming Logan into their inner circle and helping her get on her feet was great as always.

I do feel like we really didn't get as much with the club in this one as we have in previous ones, it kind of took a bit of a back seat, at least with their drama and shenanigans, but I still enjoyed the story overall.

I can't wait to jump into the next one and see how the series is going to continue! Huge thanks to the author and Dark Star Audio for the copy to listen to.

Logan is sassy, fierce, and absolutely unbothered by anyone's opinion, and that's what makes her so much fun from the first scene. She's fresh off leaving a cheating husband, and somehow her first night of freedom ends with her and her best friend in a jail cell after she cusses out a cop and upchucks on his shoes. They’re bailed out by the MMC, Smoke, who is more than older and hot. He’s her best friend’s father.

Smoke is the kind of man who wants to do the right thing, and watching him fight his attraction to Logan is delicious. The forced road trip to Waco shreds the resistance, introducing delectable spice to their dynamic at just the right time. What was supposed to be a singular night of revenge sex turns into, not just the one night.

Troy Duran is fabulous as Smoke. His deep rumble and rich delivery are exactly what this character needed, and his restraint in the early chapters makes the eventual crack even more satisfying. Helena Walters delivers Logan's sass beautifully, but she also finds the vulnerability underneath, the woman whose life was upended and who is now grappling with falling for her best friend's dad. Together, the two narrators make this one a joy to listen to.

Fire & Frenzy

Fire & Frenzy is such a great biker audiobook.
Now I'm a huge biker book fan and a lover of an age gap too.
So this one was right up my alley. This one hit all my must-haves. No lag time on the storyline either. But I must say I loved the narration. It was pretty dreamy. Troy Duran and Helena Walters killed it with their performances too.

To put it simply, these books are essentially all the same and I love it that way. This one was a little darker, and the disclaimer/TW at the beginning had me waiting a while to read, but I really enjoyed it once I started....and then could not stop because I was totally sucked in.

This book felt wholesome yet unexpected, i felt the events pass by my eyes as they happen, and the way the characters interacted among them felt like a whole big family. And when touching the forbidden territory the FMC was very careful but she didn't want to cause a havoc. Her heart said one thing and her mind said another.. though she acted a bit or maybe a lot on impulse, she was somewhat rational about the situations she was getting into. I didnt even feel like I was getting disinterested. It was soo addicting as every chapter pass by! I loved listening to this book! Thank you DarkStarRomance for the ALC of this book!

I’ve read MANY age gap romances. And a few with the ‘dad’s best friend’ trope. This book is my first ‘best friend’s dad’ romance, add to that my favorite motorcycle club, the Tarnished Angels, and it was a recipe for greatness!!
Smoke and Logan had such a beautiful story! Their relationship may have started unconventionally but, when you know you know. This love at first sight story was phenomenal!

The narrators were amazing and added a layer of realism that just didn’t exist before. It made certain scenes even more emotionally powerful and that’s why I love audiobooks so much!

Another fantastic listen for this series! I am absolutely loving these audiobooks for the Tarnished Angels. This is Smoke and Logan's book and it was a perfect addition. The narrators do such a fantastic job of bringing these two characters to life. This series is a must listen to for anyone who loves motorcycle club books. I can't wait to get more of these audiobooks as they are being put out for this series.

Sweet

A great story that I didn’t think I would like as much as I did! This one kept me entertained the whole way through.
