I have to agree with some reviewers. This was a little disappointing. I have noticed the last couple books have not been as great as the first few. This really was a disappointment, worst I think of the whole series. It was boring and I felt Rachel and Clint got the short end of the stick and this book didnt do them justice. I really didnt feel any chemistry at all. They are both kinda reserved which is fine but seriously I didnt feel any connection between them until the end. This was rushed to be published at least it seems like it. Seems like the author didnt care much about them or writing a good story for Clint and Rachel. Its like she is trying to get this series over with or something. I've noticed with this authors writing she tends not to do a whole lot of character development. She does some but this story just lacked everything. We dont even know what they look like. Obviously Rachel is curvy and Clint has big hands but thats all we really know about looks. LOL. Sorry but this was sorely lacking. Anyone giving this more than 3 stars needs to read it again or they dont care about it being a detailed story.
Kindle unlimited purchase By Lola Kidd Clint and Rachel's story. This book is only 8 chapters long. Rachel is human Clint is the hardware store owner and local Stag shifter. He knows they are mates but Rachel isn't so sure. Will Clint win her heart. Will Clint except Rachel's secret. This is a short book. But still worth 5 stars.
I really love this book📙 series, it is filled with friendship, family, laughter, romance💖 and love. I can't wait to read each new book. I highly recommend reading them in order to know who each character is.
SUNSET'S SHY STUDLY STAG FINALLY GETS HIS MATCH !!! OMG! Lola Kidd writes the cutest stories, ever and this one is no exception! Surrendering to the Stag is Book Six and latest edition to Lola's captivating Mail Order Brides Series and each release seems to get even sweeter! This series and its characters have truly captured my heart! I love it! This is a stand alone novella with no cliffhanger and a very happy ending. Although I personally don't believe it's absolutely necessary to read the five previous books, it would be most enjoyable and will certainly enrich your reading experience by helping to become familiar with Sunset Falls and its residents. These stories are sweet, enchanting, uplifting, humorous, and oh so romantic! The dialogue is smart and well written and flows beautifully. The characters are engaging, endearing, absolutely captivating and at times, laugh out loud funny. Lola does a remarkable job of crafting these elements into a happy and wonderfully entertaining paranormal romance. Each of these stories is set in a town named Sunset Falls so as the series progresses, we become more and more familiar with not only the town but also the residents. With each new release, it feels more and more like reading about our own friends and family. Stag shifter Clint Preacher has owned his own hardware store for fifteen years and is still the best handyman in Sunset Falls. He dreams of the day he could start a family. It seems all his friends have gotten a head start, courtesy of Olivia Grey and Lovely and Kind Brides, a mail order bride agency for shifters. There had been a rash of weddings lately. Five members of the Lunar Pack had found mates the month before and even had a group wedding. Like most of the single men in town, he has also signed up with L&K Brides after seeing so many of the men in town find mates but he hasn't been matched yet. Sunset Falls was finally beginning to see a turn around and it was all thanks to L&K Brides and Owen Brook's idea to get the town back on National Shifters Magazine's list of the best small town in America. Sunset Falls had been on it once, many years ago, but sadly the town had declined. Clint thought it would have taken five years at least to make it back onto the list but it had been only eight months and Owen had already received a reply from the magazine requesting a visit to their town in a month. They still had a lot of work to do. Up until now, he has supported the effort from the sidelines but he has an idea of how he can help so he needs to get busy. Besides, he has nothing better to do. It's been months and still no match from L&K. If only he could be as lucky as Dom and Gwen. They were both residents of Sunset Falls and had known each for years. Olivia Grey with L&K had miraculously managed to finally get them together. If only his match could be Rachel Drummond from the Two Wolves Cafe. He's had his eye on her since she graduated high school and has been flirting with her for years but she doesn't seem interested in him at all. He can never even muster enough courage to ask her out but he and his stag are both taken with her and her curvy body. As far as he knew, she's not even dated a single guy in the last twenty years and he's kept a watchful eye on her for all twenty. He has dreams of being matched with the beautiful human woman but that's all it is, just a silly dream. Or is it? Hmm...Rachel Drummond works hard at the Two Wolves Cafe but she never takes time off for a vacation much less taking time for dating, a relationship or a family. But that doesn't mean she doesn't want it. All her friends had signed up for L&K Brides and a lot of them have already found matches including both her bosses, Matt and Mark Lunar. Even handsome Clint Preacher, owner of the local hardware store has signed up and he's just the sweetest and most handsome guy ever. Maybe her friends are right; maybe it is time for her to give L&K a try. She would love to have someone special with whom she could share her life but it would certainly take an extra special man to accept her and her unusual problem. She's always kept it a secret but it's the reason she's never tried to have a relationship. What man would ever want her? If only it could be Clint but he would never want her if he knew the truth. Or would he? Hmm...Get ready and cue the music....It's time for Olivia Grey to work her magic - again! Handsome studly stag shifter-check! Beautiful curvaceous human waitress-check! Heated attraction, sweet romance, humor and a wee bit of angst-you bet. I can't resist. I just have to share my favorite line in the story. I laughed for five whole minutes over this one line - 'Clint had to resist eating the flowers alongside the path leading to the gazebo.' And I'm still laughing over that one! Deliciously cute, seriously sweet and delightfully entertaining!
Nice, sweet always seem like tepid words. However, there is nothing tepid about these two. They are the genuine deal. They care about other people, help other people expecting nothing else. So why can't they find the perfect mates?
How about a little help from the Shifter Mail Order Bride service. Everyone else in town seems to find success there. Clint has someone in mind but when she won't let him get closer he signs up. Rachel has a reason a very good reason she can't let Clint past the friend stage. However, the service does match them. Now what?
Rachel really wants to settle down and Clint would be perfect. She doesn't want to hurt him so maybe one little date. She'll find a way to let him down easy without revealing her secret.
ONE LITTLE DATE? He is ... well you need to read and find out. Will her secret keep these good people apart. There are so many scenes I want to talk about but I can't ruin it for you. Trust me, these two...yes read on and you'll love this book too.
Oh, and you get to peek in on all the other couples. This is one of my favorite in the series and it is a RECOMMEND.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Lola Kidd. This is book 6 of the Mail Order Mates books by the author.
Rachel Drummond is a waitress at the Two Wolves restaurant and has been single all her life. She decided to put an application into the Lovely and Kind mail order service hoping for a match. Clint Preacher has run the hardware store in Sunset Falls for years and has had a crush on the curvy waitress Rachel just as long. When all of his friends find mates Clint joins the LK service looking for his mate.
This book has a great story line and wonderful characters for any reader to enjoy. The author gave the characters very good interaction.
This is for any paranormal romance book lover. This book series should be read in order because where 1 stops the next book starts.
One of the things I truly love about this series is that altough the stories have a common link they are all different. Rachel has lived in Sunset Falls her entire life and has been happy but watching her friends fall in love has made her realise what she wants. Rachel joins LK Brides to find love. Clint has know Rachel since she was a teenager but he doesn't think shes interested in him so he enrols with LK Brides. They are both surprised when they are matched but Rachel is worried her secret could ruin it all.
The writing is fantastic as always and there is a beautiful delicacy to the way Rachels story is told. A lovely romance with a strong, caring and understanding male lead. This also gives an update on Sunset Falls and past characters. I would definitely recommend this and cannot wait until the next installment.
Clint and Rachel are the couple featured in this book in this great series. I have enjoyed all the books in the series and highly recommend it. This story has a very simple, sweet quality. Clint, a horse shifter, has wanted to ask Rachel out for years and Rachel hasn't really responded to his flirting. They both sign up for the mail order agency and give it a try. There is a secret that Rachel has kept from everyone and she worries that it will end any relationship. You root for the couple to find love and their HEA. If you want a short, sweet romance story, pick up a copy.I received an ARC from the author in return for a honest review.
'I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review'
3 1/2 Hearts
I had fun reading it. Sometimes a good quick read is just what you need and that's what this is. I could read it in one sitting. Just like in Taming the Tiger book 4 in the series I find it a little odd that two shifters that live in the same town for so long didn't realize they were mates the difference in this one is that they didn't date before. I find this odd just because I have it in my head on how I expect the paranormal to be, although I have found and can even appreciate the fact that every author brings their own twist.
This heartwarming tale couldn't have happened to a sweeter couple! Clint and Rachel have known each other for years, but it takes a matching from LK Brides to bring them together. Rachel has a closely guarded secret that has made her reluctant to give Clint a chance in the past, but is she now ready to give them a shot at joining their friends in a HEA of their own? This is a beautiful addition to the mail order mates series, and I am glad that the stories are going to keep going.
Right in front of your face Clint has had a crush on Rachel for as long as he’d know. LK Brides still hasn't come up with a match for him so he finally gets the courage to ask Rachael out. But not long after she rejects him she applies to LK Brides and finds out he is her match. But she has a secret that just might keep them apart. But is she underestimating him? Well written and very entertaining to read.
wow oh wow each book in this series gets better and better. I love how she adds tidbits of the other couples in each story so you still know who they are doing. in this story we meet a stag who has always loved his mate but she never gave him the time of day. when they get matched she decided to give him a chance. they never looked back. I am so happy for hem and I can't wait to read what happens to Ben.
This about Mail-Order Mates Book 6 - Surrendering to the Stag by Lola Kidd
In this book we have Rachel Drummond who is a curvy waitress with a secret and Stag-shifter Clint Preacher who has been in love with Rachel for years. The two main characters are just so sweet, cute and you just can't help by root for them as a couple. I like the book it's a light easy fun read. I think you will like it also.
This series just keeps getting better. Clint becomes shifter number 7 in this small town to ask for help in the love department and LK tries had to find her. The roller coaster that he goes on with the woman that he has been attracted to for a while dizzying. It was cute to watch Clint and Rachael be modest about their relationship in public. This story proves that miracles can happen when the right people are involved.
How one goes through life without knowing that his mate lives in the same city I will never know. How one figures his mate after a date site match, that I would like to know.
Rachel was older and unable to have kids. Clint wanted to have them. Clint has always liked Rachel but he never had the guts to ask her out. Rachel felt his jokes were weird...
What a story. They got their HEA, even their own kid but...not ven a spark in the story.
Clint Preacher is a Stag Shifter. He owns a hardware store and financially is doing well. He wants to find a mate if possible, so he signs on to KL Mail Order Brides and completes his profile. He has always had his eye on Rachel the waitress, but when she turns him down he knows he has to give the website a chance.
Rachel turns down her secret crush because she has a secret.
Fabulous story! I loved Rachel and Clint's story. I also liked the fact that they had known each other most their lives. Once they where matched by LK brides, the story seemed to be a little rushed, but as all the stories so far have mentioned previous characters, I was able to overlook that aspect. I am looking forward to reading the next installment.
Each new LK BRIDES pairing just gets better and better. With delightfully endearing characters that you will fall in love with and their insecurities. I'm recommending that you enjoy everyone of this fantastic series and join me in enjoying every moment of reading.
I love all of Lola Kidds mail order brides shifters series! I have even re reading them. I can't wait for Bens story next. I was overjoyed that Rachel found her mate. She deserved to be happy as did one of the town shifter bachelors ;-)
I like this series, so it's hard to say I like one story better than one of the others but this was a very cute story. I always wondered about Rachel. This was the perfect little story for Rachel and Clint. I also like that we are getting updates on all the past story characters.
Kindle Unlimited. He wants her but she shows no interest. She thinks he's teasing but when he asks her out, she refuses but only because she has a secret he want like. When they are found to be a perfect match.....what will happen?
Wow! It must be torture to be around your true mate for over 20+ years and never attempt to date until you both sign up with LK Brides....Secrets aren't always meant to be kept. Read Clint and Rachel's story. You're gonna love it. Trust me
This review is for books 1 thru 7. I give the series as a whole a 4.5 rating. Lola Kidd writes enjoyable stories with wonderful characters. Each story is different with each mail order bride reacting in her own way. The stories are fast to read. I recommend this series.
Surrendering to the Stag (Mail-Order Mates Book 6)
This was another great book in this series.I can't wait to read more even after I read them out of order ...They were great I hope there's more to come..I will be watching for it...
Very quick read, of smiles. I have enjoyed this series but I'm not sure if it's my imagination or reality, but the books seem smaller and with much less character detail.
Well finally Rachel gets her happily ever after. I love that she was paired with Clint as he had the biggest crush on her. Can't wait to read Ben's story.
