The first half of the book was excellent. The characters and the setting were intriguing, the writing style cool and detached but still personal enough to let you feel for the characters. I especially liked that the novel was told from the point of view of Umbrella personnel, which I would love to see in the games as well. What started out really promising, however, went on a downwards spiral towards the end of the story. It was all really convoluted and at some point you couldn’t tell anymore what was happening and why. I’d still recommend this one if you’re a Resident Evil fan and always wondered how the Raccoon City incident was viewed by some of the researchers in other Umbrella labs!
