Angelo Scott left Florence and came to England with his older brother Marco and their friend Lorenzo. While his mother was Italian, his late father had been British and the second son of the Baron of Blackwood, resulting Marco being the current Baron’s heir. Thus Marco and Angelo’s reason for the journey. Lorenzo, on the other hand, had spent most of his life searching for what happened to his ancestor Matteo di Bianchi, who left Italy three hundred years ago at the behest of English patrons. It was Lorenzo’s contention that Matteo deserved recognition equivalent to that of Leonardo di Vinci….and he intended to prove it. The search led Angelo, Lorenzo, Nicholas Scott (Angelo’s contemporary uncle), Gabriel (Viscount Trenwith), and his wife Henrietta (Henri) to meet at Grimsfell Hall in Cornwall, for which Gabriel had secured a short-term lease. Now that her father was deceased, twenty-five year old Isolde Fairfax owned Grimsfell Hall, with its labyrinth of hidden pathways, passages, and secrets. She often watched from secure hiding places, as everyone explored the newly uncovered Hall of Reflections, and continued searching for more clues. Angelo eventually discovered Isolde, who had spent the last six years hiding away from people due to previous reactions to the rather obvious birthmark on her face. They found that they had many things in common, but past experiences colored her current ones, causing misunderstandings and trust issues. With patience and a broken flower, Angelo helped Isolde to finally find the courage she needed to be seen. Although the secrets of the Hall are clever, and the ending is positive, I found this to be a slightly heavy story stained with internalized rejection, feelings of unworthiness, fear, frustration and despair. However, given his personality, I wasn’t surprised that Angelo, the eternal optimist, brought insight, light and encourgement, resulting in a truly beautiful love match.

I would like to start by thanking C.N.Jarrett and Booksirens for this book!
I have read all the books in this series amd this is the one I loved best! I dont know: is it the dark medieval setting, the trauma the MFC goes through for so many years, the healer MMC,the romance, the yearning, the mistery of the castle, the hidden passages? I don't know, everything about this book was perfect! A well written story!
Isolde is very well portrayed: her birth mark tormented her for a lifetime, and after her father passing, she remained to guard the castle's secrets alone, hidden from the outer world, living in the concealed passages. She is a gothic heroine through and through, marked by society as devil 's child because of her birth mark.
Angelo is passionate about plants, about cures that he learned from his uncle or developed himself. He brings with him joy, passion and compassion. He tries his best to help Nicholas with massages and medicine, and the moment he percieves Isolde in the hidden passages, becomes enthralled by her ethereal beauty. He falls in love with her love and passion for flowers and medicinal plants, with her love for music, with her love for learning and with her compassion ever for those who mocked her appearance. He falls in love with Isolde before seeing her face, from afar, and that makes him unique in all the books in this series.
It is a story of love and trust, and is just beautiful!

This is the third book in C.N. Jarrett’s Treacherous Treasures series (number 13 in her Dazzling Debutantes series). This book finds Angelo Scott, an herbalist and pharmacist with a gift for healing, and his friends in an old house looking for the secrets left behind by his friend’s ancestor. Isolde Fairfax grew up in the house and spends her days hidden away in the secret passages and hallways, hiding from the treasure hunters. The scar on her face caused her shame and embarrassment when she was a child, and she vowed to stay hidden from society.
When Angelo hears her playing the organ, he is more than intrigued and finds her. They’re drawn to each other, but Isolde’s fear keeps her from letting herself believe she’s worthy of love. Angelo is in love with her and would do anything for her but makes a mistake that causes her to retreat from him.
This book is so beautiful. I loved the characters and the way they interacted. They’re so human and relatable. Ms. Jarrett is such a good writer. She takes you into the hearts of these two people and makes you feel their feelings. It’s a lovely story. I can’t wait for the next one!

This is blemished beauty trope, full of dark tunnels and mystery that fit in with gothic mysteries like Northanger Abbey (my favorite). I really enjoyed the continuation of the story of Lorenzo and Angelo looking for Matteo's legacy. There are several references to previous Dazzling Debuntantes books, so I think it is best if you are reading the series in order. Overall, I really enjoyed the writing and the love story that developed. Grimsfell Hall is so well described that you will feel that you have seen it before by the end of the book. I highly recommend this story if you have enjoyed the previous books.

“Miss Fairfax and the Secret Symphony” is a wonderful story about a young woman who has spent most of her life in hiding and seclusion due to a birthmark that she is afraid for others to see. Because of some judgemental reactions to her birthmark when she was a child, she has spent all of her life feeling like she is unworthy to be seen until a young man rents the house that she owns and takes care of, and he happens to see her. The book is the story of their evolving relationship that is captivating and enthralling and hard to put down. The characters are very well developed and likeable with their strengths and weaknesses and the past wounds that are difficult to overcome. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes clean Regency romance.

Angelo and Isolde . . .

Angelo Scott is a gifted healer who joins his friends on a search for a priceless collection of Renaissance art. Isolde Fairfax is a beautiful young woman who has a birthmark on the side of her face that compelled her father to hide her away so no one would ridicule her looks. That unfortunately did her a disservice, as she fears humiliation and hides away from others, guarding the secrets she is protecting. But the arrival of Angelo draws her to him. When Angelo discovers her, he sees her beauty beneath the birthmark. Can he gain her trust? Will his love and patience be enough to encourage her to be seen and live the life she deserves? And will she decide to reveal the secrets or keep them hidden?

Isolde was a beautiful young woman with a portwine birthmark on one side of her face. Her father sheltered her to avoid ridicule or criticism of her looks. Angelo met her and saw beneath the birthmark. On his travels he brought her the best gift ever, and it made her see how unique and special she was. An inspiring ending if ever there was.

A beautiful love story of how a man taught trust and love in a simple gesture and explanation of how rare her beauty was.

A heartwarming and Inspirational read.

I love everything this author writes, but this book is my favorite, so far! The continued mystery, the humanness of the characters, that makes you cheer for them, and shed a few tears with them. Everytime I had to put it down, I couldn't wait to get back to see what happened next. Also shortly after finishing the book I heard, "In Other Words" by Ed Sheeran and it kinda felt like the perfect sounds tract to this book.

As usual an intriguing story, that continues on from the previous book in the series. We have our usual characters but new ones are introduced to add spice. The romance between Isolde and Angelo runs through the book to add more interest. I felt the book got a bit bogged down in the middle running over things again with Isolde’s life, but I just skimmed read this part and was pleased with the ending. I look forward to the next book in the series

This is a gothic romance set in an ancient and mysterious castle. It is worthy of Anne Radcliffe, though set in Regency England. It's a story of a young woman coming to terms with a traumatic childhood experience that has made her hide in shame ever since. Although I knew this was a HEA story and all would be resolved by the end, I found myself empathizing with her and wanting to cheer her on throughout the book! I had to keep reading until it all resolved. I found it very moving.

This is almost gothic in feel. The FMC hides within the walls of her home to guard its secrets and hide her facial birthmark. The MMC comes to the house with a friend who is searching for his relative’s painting. He is also very involved with healing and medicinal plants. When he discovers her, he only sees her beauty. The setting seems dark but the romance lightens it up. It was a good read and part of a series that is interconnected with characters I have enjoyed getting to know.

This one got it right! The delicate balance of characters and drama, mystery and romance, without the endless back and forth of character thoughts that seemed in the last two novels in this offshoot series to be there more to add pages than actual progress. Very much enjoyed this one, and its conclusion with the invitation to the next one. If you make it through the first two, this is your reward!

Unique and Perfect

The mystery of finding the hidden work of an artist was enjoyable to read about. Continuing the story and setting from the previous novel, I was able to appreciate the context and the key characters. Watching Angelo and Isolde interact and figure out their way was quite satisfying. I think the message in the end was powerful, and one everyone today could learn from.

mystical and moving

The first couple of chapters, yes were beautiful then narration after that was more or less the usual until lunch after that I really got annoyed at which was just going over and over and over the emotional issues of the two lovers. The finale at the end made me wanna cry so that made up for it.

This was going to be my favorites yet but the story drug in the middle. Too much time belaboring the library search. And the main characters fear and indecision about what she wanted. But it had a wonderful conclusion when we finally got there. I had to persevere through the middle. Maybe could have been shortened? Another winning installment in C. N. Jarrett’s Treacherous Treasures series!

C. N. Jarrett knows how to write Regency romance with intrigue. A few minor editing mishaps did not detract from the story. I found the story both intense and emotional, and I am grateful the author shared it story with us. I look forward to reading the next installment.
