I'm giving this book 3 stars because I like the author and the premise of the story is good. What I didn't like was that to me it was written in a way to be like poetry. Even some of Lennox and Lane's conversations gave off that vibe. I loved Concrete and Cadence but this book just didn't vibe with me as much, although, I will admit that I did shed some tears throughout because the story does touch the heart.

Thank you to the author for the advance copy of this book! Lane and Lennox's banter was top tier. Although, once they got together he seemed to soften too much and then the banter seemed to be one sided with him retreating to ensure he got her.
The prologue of Lane's relationship with her mom, had me wanting to jump through the pages and beat her down for such bad parenting. In spite of, Lane still rose through the concrete and survived. Taking that survival and creating The Full Plate Project. Lennox had to learn not to overstep boundaries given his profession and wanting Lane showed that he could do that.
This is book two in the series and I will go back and read it as there were many references that I believe play some parts in this books flow. I'm also excited as the lead in to book three and how that will turn out has piqued my interest as well.

So funny and a beautiful love story. Lennox may or may not be another book boyfriend 🤭. I honestly would’ve rated this 5 stars , but there’s tons of grammatical errors throughout the e-book.

I wanted to like this book as much as Concrete & Cadence, but it took me SO long to get through, and I just couldn’t.
I understand that people are layered, and Lane has her reasons for being the way she is, but her behavior was absolutely intolerable at some points. I did see the growth, though… slowly and painfully 😞.
I appreciated Lennox’s character development, especially watching someone who didn’t believe in love learn to make room for it. But I wish he would’ve held Lane more accountable after she took his car apart (especially if we weren’t going to get the poems 😂). Her wounds deserved understanding, but his wounds needed safety and grace, too. Healing shouldn’t be a one-sided privilege.
I also don’t feel like this book needed to be THIS long to get us to this point. The chemistry was there, the growth happened, and we got our love story… so…cute, I guess. 🤷🏽♀️

Lennox and Lane trade jabs and poetic bars back and forth as they learn how to love and be loved. Their stories, laden with hurt, pain, and disappointment, created two people with lots of walls and barriers dressed up as humor and strength. Their strong chemistry and attraction draw them to one another and forces them to figure it all out.
Lennox has lived in the shadows of his father's legacy, while hating everything his father represents and vowing to be nothing like him. Lane has lived in the grief and pain of being abandoned by her mother and ensuring that she's never in a position to need another person again. Lennox has to teach Lane that there's strength in softness. Lane has to give Lennox the space to love and be loved.
The poetic writing style of this story allows the reader to really lean into the push and pull of Lane and Lennox's dynamic. A lot of quick-witted, sharp-tongued banter and jokes. They almost developed their own shorthand, coded language. Their date was obvious from the start, we just had to watch them (painfully at times) catch up to the inevitable. I appreciated their growth and development outside of building their relationship. It provided depth and layers to the characters, making it more than a love story. I was happy to have the whole crew from Concrete and Cadence playing a significant role in their story and not just giving cameos.
Overall, I enjoyed this story, I connected with Lennox and Lane and found myself rooting for them. I recommend this for readers that enjoy a journey to the HEA and readers that can ride out the rollercoaster of growth and healing. Lane is worth the effort, I promise.

Lennox and Lane were shaped by the very people who were supposed to protect, nurture, and love them. Their childhood experiences followed them into adulthood, influencing how they viewed themselves, how they navigated relationships, and how they allowed themselves to be loved.
What makes this story so meaningful is that it doesn't just explore the damage. It explores what happens afterward. The walls we build, the defenses we develop, the fear of vulnerability, and the courage it takes to let someone see the parts of us we've spent years hiding.
And somehow, in the middle of their individual struggles, Lennox and Lane found something worth fighting for in each other.
This is a reminder that our upbringing may explain some of our behaviors, but it doesn't have to define our future. Healing isn't always pretty, love isn't always easy, and learning to receive the love you deserve can be just as difficult as giving it.
C.M. Barnes did an incredible job exploring the long-term effects of parental neglect while giving us a romance with heart, depth, and meaning.
My takeaway: You can grow up in a home that never taught you how to be loved and still find your way to a love that feels like home.

3.75 ⭐️ & 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5. Nothing like a frenemy-to-lovers trope! Lennox (MMC) and Lane (FMC) checked ALL the boxes.
Getting on each other’s nerves? Check. Secretly pining for each other? Check. Being petty because neither one knows how to act? CHECK. Dropping off Depends while the other is on a date? Check. Taking their car apart and scattering the pieces across the city? Oh, they were committed to the pettiness! And I loved every second of it.
But underneath all the banter and chaos, both Lennox and Lane grew up without really experiencing the love and care they needed. Because of that, they became jaded, skeptical, and extremely guarded when it came to love and relationships.
I really enjoyed watching these two go from constantly getting on each other’s nerves to slowly letting their walls down and becoming vulnerable with each other. The banter, the pettiness, the chemistry—I was here for ALL of it. And seeing them finally realize they were worthy of love? Loved that for them 🥰.

I appreciated how she wove real‑life experiences into Lane’s story — it gave me the chance to feel even closer to her, to understand her walls, and to celebrate every moment she let herself soften.
Lennox was everything. His willingness to do whatever it took to break down those impenetrable walls made their connection feel powerful and earned. This book made me cry, it made me laugh, and it made me reflect in ways I didn’t expect. And the poems? Absolutely stunning — they added so much beauty and emotional depth to the story.

I finished reading this book a couple of days ago and took time to digest the parts that spoke to me. It kind of made me understand why a dude who supposedly had so much love for you would run. But unlike Lane, I never let them come back. I guess that is a defensive mechanism firmly built into me. This book also reaffirmed within me that if a man really wants you, he can and will be intentional with anything and everything he does that concerns you. I find myself identifying with Lane, but I am no longer looking for a soft place to land. That want has been beaten out of me BUT I do hope that many of you will find your place under the sun
CM Barnes' books always speak to me and have even had me in tears.

Great for quip lovers
I was looking forward to this book and wanted to hurry up and read Concrete and Cadence so I could get to it. I LOVED C&C but unfortunately this one didn't hit the same for me. I didn't find it to be as smooth of a read; some of the conversations went on for what felt like a while thanks to a LOT of quips and clever metaphors, which at times were humorous but after a while felt overdone. Aside from that, I just didn't get into this story or the main characters like I did in C&C. I wanted KC and Cadence together; rooted for them. Lennox and Lane, not so much.
And the editing errors were noticeable, especially when it slipped into first person while the majority of the story is in third. Things like that affect the reading experience, for me.
I'll still look forward to more from this author, even though this one wasn't a match for me.

The chemistry and banter between Lennox and Lane was bound to turn into something more. I enjoyed the character and relationship development of these two. Lane can come off a bit annoyed and difficult but when you really look at her history we got to really see why she was how she was and i did truly feel for her. Lennox was so patient and persistent with Lane and really helped her grow. I did enjoy the trip to Winston Hills and city being tied into the story. That trip was a game changer for sure. This book held so much pain and trauma but also triumph and healing. I really enjoyed Lennon Lane

Took a little trip to Stonebridge to get a view at the story of Lennox Lane! This has been an anticipated read and will say it will not disappoint. Lennox Lane by C.M. Barnes is a slow burn, enemies-to-lovers story that results in a found family. We look into the lives of Lane Sanders and Lennox Jackson, two people hell bent on staying close but still apart at the same time. The banter between this two will have you kicking your feet and swooning the entire time! To have such powerhouse personalities find love within each other was a great journey and one I hope everyone that reads it will feel the same too.

Midnight Ledger & Lavender Haze are good alias for Lennox & Lane. Lennox works quietly in the dark as a cyber vigilante ensuring the balancing scales are somewhat even. Lane’s lavender hair isn’t only tied to her poet alias but is a reflection of her resiliency in life. What makes this story beautiful is you have two people who used wit and slander to mask their vulnerabilities and traumas. Loving each other patiently and with consent allowed them to experience softness and unconditional affection.
The complexity of this story is unexpected but such a good journey of healing and self discovery.

Lane and Lennox had me hooked from the start. Their love-hate relationship, nonstop pranks, and undeniable chemistry made this such a fun read. Lennox getting under Lane’s skin every chance he got had me cracking up, but I also loved that she didn’t make it easy for him—he had to put in the work.
Underneath all the humor and banter were real emotions, hurt, healing, and two people learning how to let love in. I loved watching their war with each other slowly turn into something neither of them expected. Funny, emotional, romantic, and full of chemistry—I’m definitely ready for more of Stonebridge!

I loved being back in Stonebridge! Lennox's and Lane's love story was equal parts, traumatic, hilarious, petty, and sexy. Although there were some heavy topics discussed when learning their back stories, Lennox and Lane were a lot fun to read. I loved their chemistry and their petty banter stole the show for me. I can't wait to return for the next installment.
One minor hiccup and was when the POV flip flopped between third and first person in the first couple of chapters which was a bit confusing, but overall this was a great read!

“Survival checks for cracks before it checks for grace.” What's understood doesn't need to be said. Lane had a hard time being loved. Lennox didn't want to be a repeat of his father. Both parties had to work through so much before they could trust each other fully and love each other the way they knew how. The writing was grown, excellent, and every time the pen hit the paper, you felt the emotions: hurt, pain, forgiveness, love, and the willingness to try again. So good.

CM Barnes Never Misses!
This has become one of my favorite authors. From the enigma series, and now this series she gets it right every single time. I love the emotional connection. She builds with the characters and the maturity of the characters, which is refreshing even when they do something crazy it still doesn’t feel childish a little petulant, but given the circumstances, we can understand. This is a must read if you have not read the first book, I would say go back and read that because the characters are connected similar to her other series. I can’t wait for book 3.

This was a slow burn with worth the burn. Although Lane got on my last nerve with that slick mouth and I got it was defense mechanisms it got to be annoying. I needed more on a couple of things especially " Th Council" a quick history lesson and it would have been nice to have actually hear some of the filthy things Lennox said to Lane.. Although several parts were choppy to me I definitely had some emotions come up that I was not expecting while reading their story. The editing for sure needs to be checked closer on the next story, I can't wait for Nova and Tariq's story.

However my bookish friends suggested I read Concrete and Cadence which I didn’t particularly enjoy, so I wasn’t going to read this installment in the Stonebridge series…but they insisted so I obliged and I did enjoy it. Both Lennox and Lane opened up and blossomed in love, healing and forgiveness. It was way better than C and C. I’d continue with this series for sure but you can’t pay me to read anything Winston Hills related!

What a ride!!!
Whew, just when I thought nothing could top Cadence & Concrete, here comes Lennox & Lane stealing the show. From the beginning to end, I was so caught up in this love affair I didn't want the story to end. Love the way Lennox and Lane grew emotionally, eventually, lol. Lennox was a low down dirty dog for the the stunt he pulled at the restaurant. However, Lane gave him a run for his money with her antics as well. I laugh the entire way through. This is now one of my favorite reads from C.M. Barnes and of 2026! So excited for Nova and Tariq's story!

This is now one of my favorite reads from C.M. Barnes and of 2026! So excited for Nova and Tariq's story!

The healing that happened in this book is so heartwarming. A man who becomes the man she needs so she can heal. A woman who lets a man find his own way and supports him while doing it. Lennox & Lane are perfect for each other. Their love is one that is true, tried and beautiful. C.M Barnes always finds the grace her characters need to heal with dignity. And she knows she can write the hell out of some filthy, nasty, spicy scenes.

Every women needs a Lennox Jackson
Lennox Jackson was a scared man who grew up and turned into a man that is patient, caring, loving, a provider and anything a woman needs or wants in a man! This books made me cry so many times! It was such a good read! I loved Cadence and Concrete but I think Lennox and Lane might top this. The love Ms Barnes writes about in this series is something I hope to have one day!

Great book!
I loved the banter between the characters and really enjoyed watching their growth throughout the story. I’m a fan of your work and always enjoy your books. My only criticism is that this one had a few too many typos and editing errors, which was surprising because that hasn’t been my experience with your previous books. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the story! Now on to Nova & Tariq!!!

Robot & Lavender 💜
These two were something else. They both endured so much growing up that they swore off from love. That all changed while I’m St Barts. They came back and still tried to fight it, but love wins! Lane is the true definition of a hustler!!! I love that lil hacking, stalking Lennox! He was always 10 steps ahead. I’m so glad Lane blossomed into the beautiful lavender head entrepreneur that she did! She deserves love and happiness!

Lennox and Lane’s story was written like poetry. The way it was written piqued the long forgotten poet within me. I loved seeing the MMC Lennox Jackson go from this emotionally unavailable, arrogant, petty cyber security genius to a present and accountable fiancé. Lane was beautiful, bold and went for what she desired in life with dedication, passion and grit. I loved reading her being properly loved on, by her chosen family, love of her life and finally her mother.

YESSSS!!! This book was GOOD! I appreciate how the characters were depicted as far as the walls we tend to put up after dealing with traumatic experiences and allowing healing to take place where love can blossom in its own way. This was such a beautiful and relatable read. Can't wait to see what happens with Tariq and Nova too!

I really enjoyed reading about Lennox and Lane. They both had childhood issues and struggles and Lane used poetry as an outlet and Lennox use his cyber security as his way of helping and throughout the book I feel like they taught eachother different things they needed and learned how to lean on and be soft with eachother.

I enjoyed the book especially Lane’s one liners lol. The banter between the 2 of them was funny & he was TAKING HER THROUGH IT!!
They both have childhood trauma, that causes them to almost miss out on each other. These 2 characters show us that sometimes you gotta step out on faith
