"Η γυναίκα έχει το απαράγραπτο δικαίωμα, και μάλιστα εκπληρώνει ένα είδος χρέους όταν προσπαθεί να φανεί μαγική και εξωπραγματική. Πρέπει να εκπλήσσει, να γοητεύει. Ως είδωλο πρέπει να χρυσώνεται για να γίνεται αντικείμενο λατρείας. Πρέπει, λοιπόν, να δανείζεται απ' όλες τις τέχνες τα μέσα για να υψωθεί πάνω απ' τη φύση, ώστε να σκλαβώνει καλύτερα τις καρδιές και να συναρπάζει τα πνεύματα. Δεν πειράζει διόλου αν η απάτη και το τέχνασμα είναι γνωστά σε όλους, όταν η επιτυχία τους είναι εξασφαλισμένη και το αποτέλεσμα πάντα ακατανίκητο."
Το μικρό αυτό δοκιμιακού χαρακτήρα κείμενο του Baudelaire γράφτηκε προς το τέλος του 1860 και δημοσιεύτηκε στην εφημερίδα "Figaro", το Νοέμβριο του 1863, μαζί με άλλα κείμενα κάτω από τον γενικό τίτλο "Le Peintre de la Vie Moderne" ("Ο ζωγράφος της σύγχρονης ζωής").
Μετά την πρώτη του αυτή έκδοση στη σειρά των "Φυλλαδίων" της Άγρας, το κείμενο επανεκδίδεται στη νέα σειρά του "Άτακτου Λαγού".

Ενδιάφερουσα προσέγγιση του τεχνιτού, ως αποθέωση της διαφοράς ανθρώπου και φύσης - ενστίκτου - αγρίου.

What a beautiful, short read!
I always enjoy talking about make up with men.
This was a very interesting view from a man's perspective, and I really REALLY liked his approach on the subject.
The think that fascinates me is that this was written during 1860...
