If you had told me here was a picture book about Al Capone, but actually Owl Capone, I wouldn't have believed that they could make a gangster story appropriate enough for young children, but by golly, they did it.

Adults reading this are totally going to see all the Godfather/gangster references, but a child is just going to love the animals in clothes eating (not-so) vegetarian wraps. I loved the word play, even if I was mildly horrified by the alluded demise of Gus the Rat, but that is La Famiglia for you.

It is cute. The spin of the "Capone" innuendo and some puns (the new wrap is served cold) is funny for the adults. However, I am really curious about the new wrap! Especially since the ex-partner is missing.... !

You got me at Owl! I love this take on Al Capone, where he is just the kindest of owls! I really enjoyed the story, and it has a great lesson in it: kindness is not a weakness, it always gets rewarded.

I can't resist a good pun. With a great message about kindness not being a weakness and an owl going to the bar for an almondmilk with cinnamon, this was a cute read.
