There is an overarching theme to all of London’s frameworks: there must be an effective collaboration and communication between the enterprises and the BoP segment. Without proactively engaging with the BoP, there will be a lack of a diversity of thought that will leave holes in their development plans. Firms must conduct extensive field research to learn more about the BoP’s culture, system, and social cues. If firms serve the BoP market without this proper understanding, then they are bound to fail in the short-run.

Despite of filling in the gaps for companies that have failed in their endeavors in accessing the BoP market, London’s book is a hybrid of a memoir, case studies, and lecture notes. He often switches his writing style within each chapter. For instance, a chapter starts with him recalling on his past experiences working with the BoP segment. Then, he’ll introduce his framework and elaborate on his definitions. Next, London provides supporting examples to demonstrate how successful or unsuccessful his frameworks worked for companies in the past. Finally, he’ll review the materials he previously presented and provide the bigger picture of BoP’s poverty reduction.

To write a clearer BoP market entry guidebook, London needs to strip away his personal experiences to create a whitespace for his frameworks. By eliminating his memoir excerpts, he can stick to one writing style that will give more clarity and flow of his business models to the reader. Overall, besides having multiple writing styles, London’s book provides a resourceful manual for prospective entrepreneurs, investors, economic scholars, social justice advocates, any curious learners on how to enter the BoP market.
