One of those little books I bought from Amazon for a 99p and thought I would get around to read, had the book for quite a while and finally decided to read this book as only 215 pages. Just finished two books over 550 pages !

So pleased I did, a great little surprise.

I looked at the cover and thought a quick war story book, oh no much more that that.

A great police thriller/crime thriller that keeps at a fast pace all the way through, keeps you guessing at the beginning, what is going on?

A man, alone and exhausted, with a deep gash on his temple, has a bullet wound that has robbed him of his memory.

He learns his name is Fraser and within moments, he realises he is being relentlessly hunted by an unknown number of trained, armed men.

He doesn’t know why he’s running or who he is fighting against but within moments of coming to, he has killed the first of his attackers.

Already, he is a ruthless Hunter Killer!

The Scottish glen confines him in danger, mystery and confusion and he is haunted by the face of a beautiful woman and memories of past conflicts.

He remembers that someone has given him the skills to survive and the ability to kill anyone who stands in his way…

Meanwhile Detective Galbraith is looking into the attacks surrounding this group of armed men.

Their leader, Braxton, is keen to put him off their trail before he learns too much…

Fraser is confused and in danger, Galbraith is unsure of who to trust and Braxton is desperate and dangerous: a lethal combination.

When the three collide, there’s no knowing what will happen or who will come out alive…

A great book from a real life soldier, who knows his facts.

The pace builds to a fast action packed, gripping and tense conclusion, and leads to maybe a number two book !

First book from this author, and my first read from this author, very impressed.

Four stars from me.

I recently read the author’s biography and it was astonishing, so felt I should pick up one of his fiction books. Glad I did.
This is set in Scotland with a lot going on before the reader can see the wider picture. In the main it is a kind of Scottish “Rambo – First Blood” where a talented soldier is being hunted in the woods by a large team of SF Americans. And a local Police officer is being discouraged from looking into the group occupying the large estate near his small town.
Plenty of action and trade craft as our talented soldier tries to avoid capture and take out his pursuers.
I actually enjoyed this quite a lot, an easy page turner with lots of thrills. It needed better editing (mainly paragraph breaks between “scenes”) but this only had a minor impact.

HUNTER KILLER by Harry McCallion kept my interest from beginning to end. The story takes place in Scotland, and of course, Americans are the culprits in this storyline. Or it could be the rich against everyone else. The main character was Superman in disguise. He managed to come out on top whenever confronting the enemy - even if the odds were ten to one. I was disappointed in coming upon so many typos and the lack of separation between scenes. One event was followed by an entirely different one in the next sentence. This went on through the entire story and I found it quite confusing. A good editor can fix this up.

Another thing I didn't care for was the love interest between the main character and a female agent, when pages earlier, he found his wife's murdered body. The ending also left it wide open for a follow-up story. However, this is only my personal opinion.

If you enjoy reading a James Bond-style book where he is on the run in the wooded hills of Scotland and hunted by dozens of ex-military mercenaries who were promised bonuses if they killed him. Then, you'd enjoy this book.

Well written but poor editing

The story wasn’t bad and the writing was pretty good. Some over the top accomplishments by the hero, but hey, it’s an action adventure story. What I didn’t like was the way the story jumps from one character to another without any visual break in the page, be it an extra line break, dashed line separator. One is reading about action taking place in a woodland and then in the next line we’re in the village pub. Rather jarring for the reader. !Spoiler alert! The sudden romantic connection between the main protagonist and the female agent was unbelievable at best. The protagonist has just found his wife’s body and is seemingly responsive to romantic overtures from a woman he has just met. I don’t think so! But, nevertheless, it’s not a bad way to waste a few hours.

Good read

A good read. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it and it gripped me. Three criticisms: dreadful editing, seriously poor: Fraser’s thoughts about his wife felt clunky, they also needed some sensitive editing, that part could have been much better; and finally, if my husband was coming on to some woman when I had been dead a week I’d haunt him viciously. Editing again, people grieve. I’d have believed it if he’d been thinking along the lines of, I’m not ready yet, but perhaps one day. All of this let down an author who can spin a darn good yarn. My advice to the author, find a new publisher. And to the publisher, employ some skilled staff.

This was a thoroughly entertaining book to read! full of tight turns and characters that you either love or hate!
The story seems to be going off at a tandem then you are dragged back into breath holding scenarios that appear impossible!!
Its not till the final chapter that you think the goodies MIGHT make it out alive but then you are held at the finger tips until the final line!!

If you have a liking for fast paced thrillers, do yourself a favour and read a copy of this book.

A great author.

Cleanly written thriller

Hunter Killer is a cleanly written British thriller. Unfortunately the text is not as well edited. As usual to this genre, the villains are American capitalists run amuck in the British socialist paradise. The Americans naturally conspire with British gentry and are opposed by a lone soldier and a disgraced DCI. In short Hunter Killer is a good beach read.

Fast action against overwhelming odds as nuclear waste threatens countless people.

Excellent characters, outstanding plot, and only Special Ops training stands between humanity and spreading death. When they murdered his wife on an innocent trespass hike, they stirred incredible revenge based on huge odds and finely honed survival skills. Not even a near fatal head wound and concussion could save those intent on creating havoc and evil. Well worth the time.

Simply Outstanding!

Really enjoyed SAS Fraser and SIS agent Charlotte getting pay back after Fraser's pregnant girlfriend is killed by a billionaires private army. While tracking theses guys down he meets SIS Charlotte and she is investigating the estate where Fraser is hunting them down. A really good and exciting read. Would really like to see this in a series.

I could give the story a five star easily but I read hundred of books and I personally had a rough time with the way the story was writen. It could just be me but mixing two story lines if not three in one chapter for me was confusing.
Again the story of Fraser was very good but mixed with all the other story lines was not for me.

Fast and furious

Starts with a bang. All action and suspense. Unable to put this book down. Fraser is a "Bourne "clone, with razor sharp skills. He's fighting for his life, while trying to remember what got him in the mess he's in. Just when you think he's done for, he thinks his way out! Great Read!!

Great story

Interesting read that moves along quickly. You have to pay attention as the changes in the story aren't clearly marked. You have to stay on track. Wish the ending was more defined.

Action packed

An excellent action packed novel. Couldn’t put it down BUT I don’t like stories that don’t end and make you by the sequel, otherwise I’d give it five stars.
