Max Ride details the capture of Angel, and tells a bit about the background of Max and the other children who live with her, and how they came to be there. The history is a bit disjointed, and falls in between the story itself. Also, the children's names seem to mix a bit, so I'm only sure about a few of them, but it is certain that they are all mutants, of one variety or another.

I found it difficult to judge this one on its merits, because I read the novel it is based on only a couple of weeks ago, and (at least in this issue) it has stayed very close to the source material, so I was always comparing it mentally with the original. A chance I would have given it another star if I had been less distracted, because there was nothing wrong with it, but I wasn't invested, because I felt like I had read it before.

Was a little too fast-paced and heavy-handed with the backstory insertions. Art sometimes messy with the perspective, but much respect to the artist overall since they're the main workhorse of these projects! Not enough buildup of the characters to be invested in them, which is a shame because I loved When The Wind Blows.

This series had so much potential as a comic book. And it was all thrown away. Steadily disappointed, but extremely glad I only own the first four and will not be purchasing the rest. The characters are completely wrong, the WINGS—don’t get me started on the wings—and just how the plot is being changed from the books. The YenPress graphic novels are more true to the books, so I will be focusing on those instead of on the comics. Sorry, but I was expecting a hell of a lot more.

Thanks for acting like you’re paying attention.

All quotes pulled from the novel, and included bonus content.

The story seemed a little rushed but then again I don't know how you can squeeze a full novel into a comic adaptation without a few bumps. Overall Marvel pulled this one off good. Really liked the art!
