Jeff Vines unwinds a fascinating story while communicating vital truth concerning questions many people wrestle with. A dinner conversation with a party of skeptics bent on proving the inadequacies of the Christian faith becomes the venue for finding answers to some of the most challenging questions all individuals face.
I was very curious about this book and was keen to get my hands on it. It was a special treat when I started reading it, when I learned that it's based on a true, real life event in Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, the third largest state by population in Australia.
Here Jeff describes in intimate detail the event, and how God played his hand in setting up the dinner which the host Laura (I assume not her real name I guess) decided to treat Jeff to a Dinner for Schmucks/The Dinner Games/The Last Supper in front of her hotel team. I's quite dramatic how it all plays out, and it's a blessing reading how Jeff compassionately engaged with Laura, Dan the Cop, Sherri, Richard (Sherri's boyfriend), Jucinda, et al. What a dinner to remember. So many issues explored...9/11, tsunami, Corrie Ten Boom, Schindler's List, beer, and so on.
If I was a Hollywood producer, I'd be wanting to get the rights for this fine book, and this would be my fantasy cast:
Jeff Vines...Jeff Probst Dan the Cop...Kurtwood Smith Sherri...Cameron Diaz Richard...Danny Pudi Jucinda...Sutton Foster
