A New Adult Erotic Fiction

WARNING: This story is a continuation of the RE-RELEASED version of Unexpected. If you have purchased/read the ORIGINAL release of Unexpected there will be a slight inconsistency with some details of this book, as the ending was changed. I apologize if this causes any confusion! When I re-published 'Unexpected' I used the ending that I had originally written instead of the one that had been decided upon by my ex-publishing company because it created a better flow between all of the other books in the series.

There is also a glossary for some of the Korean words that are used at the end of the book, before the Author's note.

The name is Sarah. I'm a lifelong book lover and a die-hard fan of romance :) When I was in high-school I graduated from reading YA novels to my very first Romance novel. I'll never forget what it was. No Compromise by the legendary Rochelle Alers. In 2008 discovered K-pop while on a youtube "related videos" binge lol and I fell in love with both the music and the language, and wanted to learn as much as I could about them. Fast forward to college and I began reading even more genres of romance, and I noticed a lack of fiction with heroines that looked like me. So while listening to my favorite BigBang song I began my first novel, "Unexpected".

Book two of the Saranghaeyo series. This is GK's story and he meets the woman of his dreams, a backup dancer named Leila.

Extra star for male virgin hero. Not enough of those in Romancelandia.

I'm in a re-reading mood right now and seriously, a cute, improbable, fluffy insta-love love story featuring a Black heroine and Korean hero is exactly what I needed. I'm always good with strong female friendships too. Marcia was ride or die and I'd like to see her have a happy ending.

I decided to give this one another try (I was in a KPop mood). I loved GK and Leila even more this time. Giving it the half star I knocked off last time. I hope Kwan's book is as good. He is my second favorite member of T4L, lol.

Okay, I'm a little conflicted about this book. A friend of mine has recently gotten me into k-pop and I'm totally obsessed so naturally I was really interested to read a k-pop romance book, especially since I read that the author is a fan of Bigbang as well (G-Dragon bias here;). I was pretty excited to read this but unfortunately it missed the mark for me.

I liked the premise of a regular girl meeting and dating an idol while in NYC, that was cute but Leila didn't have much personality. She was pretty much defined by her love of dance. There was really nothing else memorable about her. She wasn't even really described very well. GK is the idol she meets. He and his band are in NYC to further their American profile. GK was pretty cute, I pictured him as Mark Tuan from Got7. He was a nice, sweet, and overall likable guy but that was it. He didn't have leading man type of personality. The biggest issue for me is that Leila and GK had no chemistry. I don't like insta-love in contemporary books, like a sudden magnetic connection won't do it for me. I don't think they had nearly enough relationship building moments to gain chemistry. They had one date and then were putting in work like no tomorrow. I wasn't really feeling it.

I felt like the boys of T4L tended to overshadow GK and Leila most of the time, especially Kwan and Boom. They were hilarious and adorable. T4L actually reminded me of Got7 way more than Bigbang. Something else that surprised me was how old the guys actually were because they felt really young. Based upon the themes and the writing style, this book could easily be a YA if it weren't for the gratuitous and at times awkward sex scenes piled up in the middle of the book. Also this is the second book in the series, but you don't have to read the first to understand what's going on. The first book is about GK's cousin and bandmate, Kai and Kai's fiance Noel. Based on what I saw from Kai and Noel, I'm really not inclined to read about them and I didn't ship them.

Overall, I want to give the author points for doing something different. IR NA is hard to come by and the fact that it's about k-pop makes it even more rare, but the characters and relationships were not at all fleshed out enough and the plot was lacking. 2.75 stars

2.0⭐️BWAM (Korean) This is the second book of the series which focuses on G.K. and Leila. Additionally, the gang’s all here too (K-Pop group). I love this series with one major caveat; the multitude of errors almost swallowed up the entire story! It was most disconcerting. This is so beyond egregious I have no words for it. The editor was missing in action, I guess.

I really like this author. I just want all those errors fixed!

This is a continuation of the story in Unexpected (Saranghaeyo Series, Book 1). If we hadn’t had #2 as one of our picks, I probably wouldn’t have read this book. I was pleasantly surprised.

This story features the previous hero’s cousin Kai, who wasn't so likable in the first book. With that fact alone, I was interested to see how Ms. G was going to pull that of.

She (the author) seems to be more familiar and comfortable with the characters, the story world, and writing physical romance. Although it could be seen as a trope to make a villain (or antagonist character) of the first book, the hero in the second book; I think that it works for her here. I also think that the increased page count gave the story room to breathe. There is more character development, and the story just flows better.

If you read the first book and liked it, I’m sure that you’ll really like this one. If you read the first book and thought “meh”, you may want to give this book (and the author) another try. While not riveting, it is a stronger story with better character development.

OMG G.K. is so adorable! You will really fall in love with this guy in this continuing saga of the lives and loves of K-Pop band T4L. The only issue is, his love interest, Leila, isn't all that interesting to me. Besides her being a backup dancer for the group, I don't know, there's nothing about her personaility that really grabs me. Her roommate actually was more interesting than she was lol I don't get why G.K. was so determined to get with her, other than maybe she was hot looking and a good dancer. Other than that, meh. The story was still decent and there's a lot of the family dynamic brought in regarding G.K.'s dad and former manager and her mom. He becomes his own man and follows his heart to Leila and it's really sweet. I like this series.

Drama

Family dynamics are what makes family members what they are. Sometimes you comeback from something's and sometimes you just have to move on. The author did a good job of illustrating that.

A sweet story. I bogged down part way through. The sex wasn’t as hot as I hoped and the plot didn’t grip me. Ok, not great.

I love in this story the shoe is on the other man's foot. Meaning he was against the interracial relationship until he met his one( black girl with nature hair). I can wait for more from this author. Not many books are interracial relationships with asian men and black women.
