Rate this book
Wesley Jacobs’ life is going nowhere fast, unless he’s racing to his next stop as a pizza delivery driver. Race he does when the order is for quirky dance captain Reagan Ward. When Reagan applies for a job at the pizzeria, Wes’ soft-spoken style and attentive eyes (along with his classic Chevelle Super Sport) are more than she can resist. Unfortunately, a law-breaking age gap and her disapproving father terminate their nightly flirtation at the punch of the time clock. Months quickly melt away with duck pond rendezvous and stolen moonlit dances. Once the couple finally blows out Reagan’s birthday candles, the new age of Wes’ beloved girlfriend ushers in both freedom and a heavy dose of reality. For Reagan, college life is beckoning, and its call points her dance shoes to the other side of the country. Only now beginning to find his own path in life, can Wes justify following his heart toward the only girl he’s ever loved, even when she’s perpetually off-limits?

**I received this Ebook for free in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my review at all.**

oh my goodness. There is a trend this year, of books that I'm reading, that have amazingly real characters that have ordinary problems and combat them in an extraordinary way. As someone who deals with anxiety on an hourly basis, this book was perfect. I loved how real the author was with her characters. The book made me laugh out loud, made me gasp in surprise, cry big sobbing tears, and roll my eyes on annoyance and I was addicted. I was addicted to Wes and Reagan's beautiful mess of a romance and I couldn't look away.

The characters the author wrote were superbly done. Olivia and Liam were great supporting characters that only added to the storyline and added to the illness of Reagan and Wesley. I loved their interactions and dialogues and I wish there was a second story. I also really loved Grant. He made me laugh more than once throughout the story and I was genuinely invested in his own love life.

The biggest thing that got to me was how real the situations were. Wes found himself wanting after a girl who was underage and instead of pressuring her for a relationship, or sex, he befriended her. Once their relationship became something real, he never tried to pressure her or force her to do anything she didn't want to. Reagan was a strong, capable, and amazing female character and had issues with things even I could relate to and I loved it.

I give this book 5 magical stars!

Ah, young love...This story accurately depicts all of the extra angst, drama, and swirling hormones that surround young love. The storytelling was unique and particularly enjoyable because it was from the hero's point of view. Oh, and he's just a normal dude who delivers pizza for a living. This book had believable characters that I found myself really rooting for. Big thumbs up for Order Up!

Long time fan of this book, and the author!

Read this a long time ago in its original format and fell in love with the simple complexities of the story. I found Wesley an endearing character, with an interesting story. I adore this author, and her other book Swap Out is also a must read. This is a story I often return too!

Cute story with some funny and sad moments, but it didn't feel like it was going anywhere. Too many places with the scenes dragged and repeated information.

This book is one of the first reader-selected books from Amazon Kindle Scout (ie readers overwhelmingly voted for this book to be published after reading a sample). I was one of the readers and as soon as I devoured my free advance copy, I started dancing with glee because A. I WAS RIGHT and B. THIS BOOK IS SO AWESOME!

It stole my heart for so many reasons, but I'll try to break it down for you here (with sexy pictures. For...reasons.)

First, it’s about real people, not fake-ass book people. You know who I’m talking about: the billionaire who JUST SO HAPPENS to be gorgeous and great in bed, despite the fact that being unselfish isn’t exactly one of the things that tends to propel people toward that level of financial success. Or the girl who is a famous fashion designer who has two beautiful and totally sweet men in love with her at once and has to decide which of them she wants to run away to Paris with. Wouldn’t it be nice, folks?

But no, Order Up is about a pizza delivery guy who is a few years out of high school. Thanks to credit card debt, he’s stuck in a roommate situation where he has to listen through the wall to just how much his brother & brother’s girlfriend like each other (oh, the joy!). He’s in a job that pays for shit and makes him smell like Eu de Pepperoni and Grease but honestly, he has no idea what he OUGHT to be doing with his life. Of course, it helps that I picture Wesley as looking like this:

Yeah, trust me. I know. So that doesn’t hurt. Ooh, let’s take one more peek.

Yeah, that’s lovely. Wesley’s so freaking lovable. He’s utterly himself and he’s a little lost, okay, but he’s sweet, too, and hilarious in his interactions with his gay best friend and his big brother. Then he meets Reagan, who is just a barrel full of energy and fun and this is the point at which you get TOTALLY lost in their flirtation banter. It gives you that sentimental flutter of, “Oooh look at this new hot person and oh wow they kind of like me!” even while you’re wishing you were as witty as the characters themselves. Here’s a peek at my vision of the terribly endearing Reagan:

Reagan’s a Character with a capital C and she and Wesley start out as friends. Yeah, flirty friends but also REAL friends, the kind you rarely see in books between people of the opposite sex. In books it is all sexual tension sexual tension CONFLICTCONFLICTCONFLICT. But here, we get to see them support each other when they’re grouchy or sad or just got hosed by somebody else in their life. We get to see them get to know the weird details of each other’s lives: why Wesley loves his car so much, what dance routine is crippling all the members of Reagan’s troop. They actually freaking KNOW each other, and that’s what makes this book so addicting to me. It’s not all love at first sight or We Are Fated To Be Together Forevah. Instead it is: yup that person is pretty cute and hey, that thing they said was actually pretty funny and then wait, somebody is asking how I am doing and really meaning it for once? *pauses* And then they’re doing something totally adorable (with ducks) to cheer me up? Where did this person even COME from and how did I ever live without them?

It’s the kind of love story you rarely get to see unfold on the page. And then, of course, the conflict. I won’t spoiler anything, but I will say that I feel like this book GETS me, because nothing about it is contrived. The characters go through the stuff that we have ALL been through. The author doesn’t find any neat loopholes that the rest of us somehow missed and I love her for that. And when Wesley finally figures out his dreams, they don’t neatly align with the woman that he loves OR her goals, and the best part? His dream isn’t all, “I want to be a fireman/billionaire/save African puppies.” It is purely Wesley and purely not what you’d expect from fiction, and it is *redacted for spoilery reasons* Their journey isn’t easy, but just like my own journey, I wouldn’t give up the experience for anything.

So why is this a book that’s perfect for Kindle Scout? Because it’s a book for The Rest of Us. You know who you are: the guilty pleasure romance reader who hasn’t gotten as much of a boost from your past 10 reads as you would have liked. The one who adores a good love story and swoons for beautiful writing but dammit why is all the beautiful writing locked up in literary fiction with grand (read: unsatisfying and sad) endings? And why are all the love stories so…trite?

Order Up is the book you’ve been looking for. I know, because it’s the book I didn’t even know I wanted until I found it.

4 Star read

Story type: Contemporary, workplace

Storyline: This is the story of Wesley and Reagan. Wesley meets Reagan (officially) when she gets a job at a pizza restaurant and he works there delivering pizzas. She is 17 and he is 21. They form an instant connection and become fast friends. There is also an instant attraction, but Wesley is adamant that he won't cross the line because she is underage. Regardless of his reservations, stronger feelings develop between the two. Finally once she turns 18, they push their relationship over that line and are in love. After some time together, some major obstacles, and some teary moments, they are separated from each other. They eventually are reunited and find their HEA.

POV: Wesley's POV

H rating: 4 stars. Wesley. He was a really sweet character that struggled with his strong sense of morals at times but always loved Reagan fiercely. He was not a big talker, but I liked that Reagan was the one to make him talk.

h rating: 4 stars. Reagan. She was a ball of energy that constantly dances, smiled, made up crazy names, and brightened Wesley's life. Even though she was so young, I never found myself annoyed by her immaturity. She seemed to cry a lot...but again, it wasn't to the point that it was annoying.

Angst level: Midline. I shed some tears, but it didn't cross over to ugly crying.

Heat rating: High. There were definitely some steamy moments.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM:

Cheating:

Possible Triggers:

Closure: The book concluded in a good place where they seemed to be on the right track to find their HEA. I love my epilogues, and this book didn't have one that gave us a glimpse into their future as a secure partnership...so that would've been appreciated, but it was a decent enough ending. I did feel like this was a true love story that they would've truly lasted together because they were meant to be (so maybe that's why I wasn't too horribly disappointed about the lack of epilogue).

Loved

Finally a book that has a true love story, where the couple doesn't meet, fall in love after a week and jump into bed. This was a very unique story because it was told from the male characters pov, while the majority of romance stories that are not told in duel pov,are told by the female character. It was a nice change of perspective. This story was amazingly written, I look forward to more books like this one from this author. I love duel pov so maybe next book can be written that way,but like I said so refreshing to see male pov

If there ever was a pairing of a literary couple that was meant to be, this is it. Katie Golding's lovely romance, "Order Up", will have you rooting for Wesley and Reagan to find their happily ever after together from the moment they share a page. Prepare to have your heart stings tugged.
