Two weeks ago, Chase Riley and her best friend were kidnapped, severely beaten and left for dead. Chase was the lone survivor but has been in a coma since she was found. The police, led by her ex-boyfriend, Detective Phillip Wade, still have no idea what happened. When Phillip gets the call that his sleeping beauty is finally awake, he rushes to her side. There’s just one little problem. Chase doesn’t recall that fateful night, and doctors aren’t certain if she’ll ever remember. The woman before him is nothing like the laughing jokester Phillip once fell for. This woman is quiet, cautious and afraid. Lines are crossed from the first moment he holds her in his arms and promises everything will be okay. She doesn’t remember their friendly breakup over his inflexible schedule or her uncertainty about marriage and the stress and pressure of being a cop’s wife. He’s not the only one watching and waiting to see if she’ll remember. There’s someone else with plans to make sure Chase goes back to sleep—permanently. (Previously released as part of the Seduction at Midnight Boxed Set and Book 0.5 in the Knight’s Watch Series)
Lacey Thorn spends her days in small town Indiana the proud mother of three. When she is not busy with one of them she can be found typing away on her computer keyboard or burying her nose in a good book. Like every woman she knows just how chaotic life can be and how appealing that great escape can look. So toss aside the stress and tension of the never ending to do list.
Lacey, you broke me. Oh my word, Beautiful Dreamer was in fact, beautiful. I felt like I was going through everything with them. My heart broke with the loss of Jocelyn. I felt Chase, Seth, and Lauren's pain at losing her. Hearing the long history Chase and Jocelyn had together, made me want to call my best friend of over 30 years and get mushy. Then we'd call each other a hooker or slut, as only the best of friends can do, and get over it. Phillip is just so sighworthy. He knew Chase was the one for him and was devastated about her leaving and then being attacked. Seth definitely stole the book though. My heart ached for him. Not just in losing Jocelyn, but also because as the boyfriend, he's of course an automatic person of interest. I was intrigued by him in Jagged Hearts, but completely fell for him in this book. I know this loss is what leads him to Knight's Watch, but I wanted to make everything better for him. This is the second book, although it's a prequel, of the Knight's Watch series and I'm suffering a book hangover from this one too. To the point where I can't even decide what to read next because I'm still hung up on this one. I don't want to risk giving anything away, so I'll just say I liked Seth's response to the guilty party. I can't wait to read Seth's story. No pressure, unless pressure works for you, Lacey. ;-)
Lacy Thorn wrote such a great book in Beautiful Dreamer (Knight’s Watch). Chase and Jocelyn are attacked; Jocelyn is killed and Chase is in a coma then awakens with amnesia. Phillip, a cop, stands by Chase even though she’d broken up with him when he’d proposed; Seth, Jocelyn’s boyfriend is devastated. Now the question is who beat the girls. It’s heartbreaking and wonderful all at the same time. And explains a lot about Seth from Knight’s watch when you read into the rest of the Knight’s watch series!
Beautiful Dreamer by author Lacey Thorn is a modern take on the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty. I love this new inventive take on a classic fairy tale. Detective Phillip Wade is at the bedside of his ex fiancé Chase. Chase was in a car crash that has put her in a coma. He waits, he talks to her, and he shows he still loves her despite the face Chase turned down his offer of marriage. Right now he can appreciate her reasons for saying no. She didn’t want to be a cop’s wife and worry about his safety. Phillip is loyal, kind, and desperately in love with Chase. He is the perfect white knight to save the woman he loves. Chase wakes with no real memory of even saying no to a marriage proposal. She has no idea who did what to her or when. She is scared but I liked her inner strength. She is a spirited character who loves deeply. Over all I really am glad I got a chance to read this tale. There is mystery, intrigue, and a whole lot of love packed into this little bundle. Ms. Thorn really penned a story I will never forget. This is the book you pick up when you want to remember true love can conquer all.
I really am loving these books and the main characters of this series.
Phillip Wade is detective who has recently had his heart broken. Chase Riley is the only woman for him and he knows this. After saying no to his proposal he's willing to give her time to realize that they are right for each other; that their love is one of a kind. But one phone call has him rushing to the hospital and praying Riley, that he hasn't just lost his future.
Chase Riley is injured in a kidnapping and left for dead. Two weeks later when she does finally wake up she doesn't remember leaving her boyfriend Phillip or that her best friend has been killed. She's the one person who could bring this person to justice, but doesn't know if her memory will ever return.
Will her memories ever return? Will love overcome her fear and the stress of being a detectives wife? What will the one responsible for all this pain and suffering do to keep Chase from regaining her memories?
A quick read. You sort of know who the perp is, there's not much mystery there. All in all, it was pretty sweet but sad. I would have love if there's followup with the secondary characters especially Seth. Phillip is such a sweet boyfriend and overly protective which is understandable considering that his ex-girlfriend was in a coma after being brutally hurt. There's one pet peeve of mine which is authors who like to use masculine names for their female characters. It confuses me because to me "Chase" is a guy's name. I don't know why Lacey Thorn must choose that when she could have given the h a more feminine name.
Great is loosely connected to Knights Watch series. A true love story with some who done it thrown in.This is a quick read and can be read as a stand along,no cliffhanger . Look forward to Seth getting a story. Once again Lacey does not disappoint.
Beautiful story. The love Phillip has for Chase is amazing. Yes, I figured out who the bad guy was, but isn't that the point. Can't wait for Seth to get his story. Thanks Lacey for the great book.
