Book 3 of the bestselling Loveless and Dunn series
When aspiring-writer Mallory Reynolds packed up for New York City, she ditched more than her quiet hometown of Magnolia Bay—she left her high-school sweetheart, Josh Loveless, behind. But when the big city didn’t deliver big contracts on her novels, she turned to writing erotica under the pen name Farrah Ivory to spare her family any embarrassment. Soon, her scandalously-sexy series, The Lost Diaries of Scarlet, is a break-out hit. Just as Mallory begins to enjoy her sweet success, her publisher leaks her true identity and a media firestorm ensues. Exposed, she decides there’s nowhere to hide—except for home.
For Josh Loveless, getting over Mallory Reynolds hasn’t been easy, but he’s done his best to move on. For starters, he’s turned his love of the outdoors and rock-climbing into his own business. And just as things are starting to settle for him, he learns Mallory’s coming home to ride out her scandal, and suddenly his world is turned upside down again…
Can Mallory convince her friends and family that she’s still the same good-hearted girl they knew? And more importantly, can Josh trust the woman she’s become, and give her a second chance to rewrite their love story with a happy ending?
The Loveless and Dunn series Book 1: Bet the House Book 2: Pick Me Book 3: Forget Me Not A Very Married Christmas (A Loveless and Dunn Spinoff) Stealing Hearts (A Loveless and Dunn Spinoff)
Hello, fellow reader! I am the NAL author of women's fiction set by the sea. My fifth novel, THE LAST TREASURE, follows the love triangle between three treasure hunters searching for a mysterious shipwreck on the Outer Banks, and comes ashore on August 2, 2016. I love meeting with book clubs via Skype--so stop by my website to learn how we can set up a chat!
Mallory Reynolds is back in Magnolia Bay, hoping to find solace and peace after the ruckus that her pseudonym ensued. Josh Loveless, her ex-boyfriend, is currently gearing up for the opening of his shop for extreme sports. Josh's reputation is now affected because people thought Mallory's main character in her erotic novel is actually patterned after Josh.
Old wounds were opened, painful memories surfaced, and a promise of forever is again at stake. Will these two ex-lovers still find their unforgettable happy ever after?
Josh & Mallory's love story is a blend of flavors. Theirs got bittersweet beginnings and endings, and delicious juicy toppings in between. When they finally realized they're meant for each other, they exploded with sugary sweetness, so sweet that I thought I might be having diabetes. (Now it sounded like a rhyme, I dunno why)
Well, this is my third Erika Marks novel and I must say, she keeps getting mushier and sweeter and better than ever. Can't complain though, I liked that after-feeling. Second chance romances prove that love is indeed lovelier the second time around.
Note: I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Mallory Reynolds returns home to escape the exposure of her pseudonym as an erotica author being revealed. When she runs into the only man she ever loved on her first day back in town, the memories and feelings that never completely had gone away ressurge for her, but she is afraid that he will never forgive her for deciding to leave to try to become an author , but as they began to spend time with each other again the love they always had only becomes stronger and they will have to decide if they will make it right between them this time. A cute and heart touching love story.
This was a decent read, the stakes were never all that high so this was no stress - just simple and easy. I enjoyed the general premise and our characters were fun enough. Because if it’s length, it wasn’t all that developed and I did feel like it ended a tad abruptly and prematurely, I just needed that lil extra bit. Nevertheless, this was a nice read for when you don’t want to go too deep or get too invested.
My Review: Second chance at love. There's something about this trope that gets to me and I enjoyed this book because of that. Five years ago, Mallory left her hometown to chase her dreams of becoming a writer. She hoped that Josh loved her enough to wait or go with her, but when she asked him to do so, he told her no. What she never knew is that night he had an engagement ring in his pocket. The breakup devastated both of them.
But they both thrived even with the separation and heartbreak. It may not have been what either of them wanted, but it honestly may have been simply what was meant to be. Would they have had that success if they'd been in that comfortable spot together? Maybe, but maybe not.
But in the book, Mallory's world has imploded as her secret pseudonym has been revealed. I loved the whole story of her writing and how art imitates life in her books. I thought that was really well-done.
I was a little less satisfied with the over the top dramatics about her reveal. She ran home to get away from the media frenzy over it all, but I would think that people at home would be much more scandalized than anyone else about the fact. Anywhere else...no one would care. She lived in NYC and since she wrote under a pseudonym, no one would know her as an author. The only way I could see some sort of real scandal here is if she was a struggling author with a high-profile other life. She didn't have that. From what I could tell in the book, she's a best-selling author making her living off that. It's not like NYC is some backward little burb...they are pretty liberal about stuff. It just felt like a huge plot hole that didn't work for me.
But everything else worked pretty well. The book is short, so there's not a whole lot of depth for the hero and heroine to really get to know one another again, but they settled back into their old roles rather smoothly, so it didn't seem like either had changed too much in the fundamentals during their separation.
It was a fun and interesting read. I liked the mountain climbing/adventure store aspect. That's not an angle you see a whole lot in the romance world so it was a fresh take that I enjoyed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I was given this ARC by Netgalley for an honest review. I thought the book was written well and had a lot of promise of being a longer novel. The problem with novellas is they always feel rushed to me but Marks does a good job of keeping pace. There is just enough time to get the general chemistry between the characters and feel the history before the end. Worth a read. Now what I might do is go and pick up book one and two.
I received a copy of this book directly from the publisher/author in exchange for an honest review.
I sincerely enjoyed Forget Me Not by Erika Marks—in fact, I’m somewhat disappointed that I couldn’t give it a full five stars. I very nearly did, right up until the very end of the book… but we’ll get into that in a moment.
Technically speaking, the writing was exceedingly well done. There weren’t any typos, awkward sentences, or narrative blunders. The story moved along at a pleasant pace, and the characters felt well fleshed out—even the one-off characters that only appeared for a scene or two.
Both Josh and Mallory seemed like solid, grounded characters. They didn’t make rash decisions or throw melodramatic hissy fits. Their relationship felt real though it could be rather awkward at times. I’m usually not a huge fan of romances where the characters begin their relationship off-screen; I like to watch the characters develop their relationships and battle their physical attraction, but I didn’t mind it this time. Despite starting the story late in their relationship, their love for each other felt natural; it was obvious and convincing in a way that I sometimes feel a lot of romances lack.
As a reader and sometimes writer of the erotic/romance genres myself, I found it fascinating that in the book, Mallory was an erotic fiction writer. It was interesting to see how she handled the fame and subsequent embarrassment that comes along with making a living writing sex and romance. She faced some very serious issues and had to figure out how to handle life back in her hometown once everyone was made aware of her somewhat unusual claim to fame…and she probably handled it much better than I would have!
The only real negative that stuck out to me with Forget Me Not, and the main reason I marked it down to 4 stars rather than 5, was the ending. It felt… rushed, I guess is the word I’m looking for. The story had a nice, slow lead up as the characters began to try and untangle the mess of their relationship and figure out where they stood with one another, and then in what seemed like a split second, everything was resolved. I think I would have still given it five stars, except at that point, the book felt finished… but instead of ending, the story continued on for a few more minutes past that point. It’s hard to explain, and though I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the fact that the romance didn’t end with your typical marriage, engagement, or pregnancy announcement, it felt… wrong for the story to end mid-start into another scene. It felt as if the story should have ended just a bit earlier.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book. Had it not been for the odd structure of the ending, I wouldn’t have anything to complain about. If you’re looking for a nice, clean, and endearing contemporary romance, this is going to be perfect for you. If you’re looking for something a little more steamy… you may want to keep looking. Mallory’s fictional erotica novel contained more naughtiness than Forget Me Not—but it was still a good, solid read.
I received this from NetGalley to read and provide and honest review. I can honestly say that this was one of the best books I have read in a long time. The book is just a novella, but the story is so good that I was mesmerized by it from the very first page. Mallory and Josh had once been sweethearts, in a romance everyone thought would end in marriage. Then, Mallory got an offer to go to the city, to write—and offer she could not refuse. Josh, on the other hand, wanted to stay in Magnolia Bay and open a sporting goods/adventure training and trekking store. Five years later, Mallory returns to Magnolia Bay, hanging her head because her pseudo nom has been compromised, and now everyone knows she writes the latest erotic bestseller. Everywhere she goes, people make comments about the book series to Mallory, though she only wishes everyone would forget she had written the series. Thus, Mallory returned to Magnolia Bay, her head spinning from all the hubbub, ready to crawl into the nearest corner to avoid the gossip, the stares, and the endless questions about how the town’s “good girl” could write such stuff. Josh also felt the repercussions of the revelation. Everyone and anyone he met thought he was the erotic, sensualist male character in Mallory’s books and kept bringing this up to him. When these two meet in Magnolia Bay, it is as if nothing in their romance history had changed in the five years they had been apart. Sparks still fly. The chemistry between them is still as good as ever. However, they have both matured and changed, not a lot, but nevertheless changed. Read along as they try to re-capture the love they once had, to rekindle their romance, with everyone in this small town watching and waiting.
The author has definitely produced a fantastic story that, though short and simple, will nevertheless take your breath away and keep your interest. I enjoyed reading about Mallory and Josh and their actions, both past and present. Their characters were well-developed, as were all the other minor, supporting characters, in particular, Mallory’s aunt and Josh’s brother. Finally, the setting in this small town was perfect for the story. I have not read any other books in the series or by the author, but I will definitely be looking for them. As I read a lot, I always enjoy finding a new author, whose works I have not read. Erika Marks will now go on my authors-to-read list. I think anyone who enjoys a good romance and is looking for something short and sweet (think beach read, vacation/travel read) will love this book. I highly recommend it.

Bet the House Pick Me Forget Me Not Stealing Hearts
Let me say, upfront, that I have never met a Erika Marks novel that I didn’t love. Forget Me Not is certainly in that same category.
You have pretty much the basics of the story within the synopsis. Mallory returned home, hoping to escape the publicity surrounding the exposure of her given name – the luxury of writing erotica under her pen name is long gone now.
She knew facing friends and family would be difficult. What she didn’t expect was to run into Josh and have him be so cold. They had been in love, and true she had left Magnolia Bay to follow her dreams of writing, but that never stopped her from loving Josh still. Five years makes a difference, and people eventually move on – even those in love.
Mallory desperately needs a second chance, in many ways, but especially with Josh. It’s up to her now to show Josh that love lasts.
I adored Forget Me Not. I grew up in a small town, so I know Magnolia Bay quite well actually. It wouldn’t have been easy to come back home being shown as the author of those “dirty little books” as some of the older residents might think. But despite everything, home is usually where we run to when there is no where else we feel safe. Mallory and Josh had a lot to overcome but they did it with charm, humor and grace. I think they got the happy ending they finally deserved.
Love small town settings and whisper networks? Enjoy a simply fun, entertaining love story? Then you have found what you’re looking for in Forget Me Not. I will happily recommend this one for anyone who just loves a good love story. Pick it up, sit back and enjoy.
*I received an e-ARC of Forget Me Not from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
~What you, the reader, always must remember is this simple truth. Any review is just one person’s opinion. You might feel the same or totally different. The only way to know for certain if any novel is right for you – is for you to read it. This was my opinion of this particular book.~
In Forget Me Not by Erika Marks neither Mallory or Josh has ever really forgotten or gotten over each other. When they both wanted different things in life it forced them apart, and there is still a big space in each of their hearts for each other.
I thought the characters were really interesting in Forget Me Not. Mallory is back in Magnolia Bay...but for how long? She was a bit of a contradiction for me, she seemed to think she could just walk right back into Josh's life (even as a friend), and seemed hurt that it wasn't going to be that easy. She's a very successful author, but is hiding and at times seemed embarrassed by her work. I liked Josh. He's doing what he always wanted to do, even if it has been a struggle at times for him. Seeing Mallory back in Magnolia Bay brings all the feelings, hurt and love, right out into the open again, and he doesn't always deal with it well. I felt like his reactions and emotions were believable. I could feel a connection between Mallory and Josh, but had to wonder if it was too late for them and if too much damage had been done...I couldn't wait to see where they took this second chance reunion.
I saw a lot of growth in both of these characters in the short span of this novella, both together and individually. Erika did a fantastic job of writing their story as a novella without making me feel like I was missing anything.
I really enjoyed being back in Magnolia Bay, and I loved all the secondary characters that help give this place it's great character. Erika does a great job of bringing in enough family dynamics to give the characters an interesting background. I especially liked Mallory's aunt, her character is strong and someone I'd love to be around! Forget Me Not is part of a series but can definitely be read as a stand alone.
I'd recommend Forget Me Not to any romance reader who is looking for a quick second chance romance read!
Despite the fact that the heroine of this book, Mallory, is an erotic romance author, the heat of this book is fairly mild. There’s plenty of chemistry and steamy build up, but this is fun and sweet rather than sexy. Mallory is a nice girl who went off to the big city in pursuit of her dreams. And she got there, just not quite in the way she expected, and now that her secret has broken cover she’s come home to lick her wounds.
Although, to be honest, I’m never quite sure why she ran home over that. I could see why Josh might have wanted to escape from the teasing and constant questions as to whether he was the hero of Mallory’s books – not just because of their shared history, but because of the striking similarities such as the rock climbing – but Mallory seems to run back towards the disapproval and judgement rather than away from it.
But it’s a good thing she does, because else there wouldn’t be a story here and her reunion with Josh wouldn’t have happened. I really liked that this second chance romance has a steady build, full of the old hurts and resentments from their original break up. Josh remains as stubborn as ever, certain that things simply won’t work between them, while Mallory is open-hearted but cautious. They’re a cute pair and it’s clear to see what they had between them before, but I liked that despite their feelings they didn’t simply just fall back into each other’s arms.
In all this is a quick, cute read with a touch of humour, plenty of chemistry and some good old romance. It contains some stubbornness, a few heartfelt dreams and the knowledge that some things really are worth fighting hard for. I enjoyed it and look forward to returning to Magnolia Bay again soon.

It is five years since mallory Reynolds left Magnolia Bay to go to New York City to study and hopefully become a writer. She didn’t just leave her home, she also left her childhood sweetheart, Josh Loveless. Whilst in New York, as a laugh, she entered a writing competition and won. As a result of this she’s been writing erotica under her pseudonym of Farrah Ivory and her books are a real hit. When her publicist reveals her true identity she wants to run and hide so returns to Magnolia Bay . . . . to find that news of her books and her identity have preceded her!
Josh struggled to get over Mallory’s departure but has worked hard to achieve his childhood dream of owning and running his own business. News of Mallory’s books percolates Mallory Bay, along with rumours about Josh being the person Mallory based the male character from her books upon….
Can Mallory return to her old home and convince them her books are pure fantasy, that she’s still the same person? Can she convince Josh to give them both a second chance at achieving their own HEA?
Another great addition to the series, with well developed characters, plenty of angst, turmoil, misunderstandings and love to help the story along at a good pace and maintaining the reader’s interest right to the end. Again, you don’t need to have read the earlier books in the series to enjoy this one - but reading this one is likely to have you wanting to read the others, too!
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
***I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher in return for my honest opinions. I have received no compensation and all opinions are my own.***
I really enjoyed this book and loved the second chances that some people are lucky enough to recieve. I really felt pride for Josh that he wanted to do things himself and not take his dads money to help himself out. It's so simple to just take the easy way out most times. While I do understand why they didn't have contact for so long, I was confused as to why things had to go down the way it did anyway. I feel like things were overreacted about and they were just being childish. While I am glad they had time to grow up, I still wish it had gone a bit differently.
Josh and poor Mallory break up just when they each think they are getting things on the right track. Later on they come back together during what Mallory and the town think of as a scandal....Her pen name has been found out. Now while some people think that it has something to do with the reopening of Josh's store, they know the truth and he is seriously upset when at the opening something goes down that makes it seem like Mallory was just trying to promote herself. On another note, I feel horrible for poor Chuck, what he is going through is just terrible and I wanted to give him a huge hug. I love how everything worked out for the best and I am rating this on in at three stars. Overall a pretty good book.
**I was provided an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. I did not receive any compensation for providing my opinion.**
Forget Me Not by Erika Marks was a cute book. It was also a very quick read at only 134 pages long. I enjoyed the book and even though the overall storyline was predictable and simple, there were some things about the book that gave it a little more umph.
Forget Me Not is about Mallory Reynolds, a novelist that heads back to her home town after a PR nightmare, and Josh Loveless, Mallory’s ex and business owner. These two come together again after five years tainted by bitterness and regret. It is obvious that the two still love each other dearly but can they find their way back together after the events of the past and the current.
Like I mentioned previously, the plot was fairly predictable as many simple love stories are. Regardless of that, it is still a very good book and well written. The characters were fun as well. There is some good chemistry even though the overall heat level of the novel was on the lower end of many romance novels these days.
I would recommend this novel to someone who enjoys a good, simple love story without all the drama and sex that tends to cloud so many. It is a feel good book and leaves you feeling happy.
Sometimes going back home isn’t always what you expect. Plans can turn in an instant.
Mallory Reynolds left Magnolia Bay five years ago to go to NYU for a writing course. Since then she has made it big writing an erotic romance book. It isn’t what she originally wanted to write, but it has made her some good money. The book gives her instant publicity which she isn’t quite ready for. She needed to get away from New York City and go back home until the dust settles and she can leave the house without being recognized.
When Mallory left Magnolia Bay, her boyfriend Josh Loveless, didn’t want to go with her. He had plans of opening an outdoor sporting goods store. She hasn’t seen him since she left.
Now that Mallory is back at home, she decides to see Josh again. They decide to give their relationship a second chance. Several things happen to come between them. Will they be able to work through them or will it send Mallory running back to the city despite their love for each other?
I always enjoy the Magnolia Bay books. The characters are fun to read and the stories are interesting.
I disliked Mallory from the beginning of the story until the end so if I could have given this book 0 stars I would have. She's a self centered, idiot who expects others to fall in line with her wants. She purposefully applied to grad school in NY knowing Josh didn't want to move and then was upset bc he wouldn't go with her. I just hated the story bc Josh deserved better than Mallory and the entire story was just to bring them back together.
Additionally, this book seemed to be part of the series only because it was set in Magnolia Bay. There is one very brief lunch where Mallory meets up with "good friend" Thea Dunn although she was never mentioned in any previous books. Knox Loveless pops in from time to time as Josh's cousin but no real inclusion or updates on any characters from previous books. I read series bc I want to read stories about the characters who have been in previous books in that series. That's not what this series seems to be about as the blurb on the next book also indicates completely new characters that seem to have no real ties to anyone in the series to date.
Mallory has wanted to do two things in her life she wants to be a writer and she wants to marry Josh Loveless. Only thing is she never thought she would have to choose between the two. When things in her life get out of control she knows the only place she can turn to is home and she just not ready to face some of the people of her small town. Josh has loved Mallory forever when he's ready to take the next step he never imagined it turning out the way it did. Finally five years later he is excited to get things going again for his rock climbing store, but when Mallory crashes back into his life he not sure what to make of it or where it will go. This is a fun and short read can be read easily in one setting. The book has a lot of fun people in it that really make the book but they storyline keeps you turning the pages to find out whats is happening. There is a fun amount of chemistry. This book is worth the read and is really fun.
I liked this book. I hoped I could get through the book without breaking down. But no, I get hooked in the Prologue. Erika has more twists and turns than spoilers but they still grab you. This is a young love story. Mallory and Josh were inseparable. Then she wanted to become a writer and leave for NYC. Josh had a dream of owning his own Outdoor business. Big twist here. She moves away. Mallory is given a nom de plume and an assistant let's it slip. She runs to her Aunt Delly in her home town in SC. They don't know how to believe they can get together. People jump to conclusions. There is a Big Spoiler at the end with a twist to make it all OK. This is a short book. It will pull you right in. Keep tissues near by. I hope you pick this book to read. Enjoy! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.
3.5 stars **Copy Provided by Netgalley and Tule publishing for an honest review**
This is a new to me author and the writing was good. The story is told from both Mallory and Josh's points of view and we see how they both got hurt when Mallory left five years ago and Josh did not fight for her. We also see how they very much still love each other as Mallory comes home for a short visit, only to bump into each other again and stir up old feelings.
With Mallory only going home to hide as her true name has come out as a writer from her pen name, as a erotic author, Mallory finds it hard especially with small town gossips. But she has more advocates than she expects.
Being a novella everything happens fairly quickly, but this would have been better i feel as a full length novel.
Mallory and Josh couldn't overcome their differences when she wanted to move out of Magnolia Bay and to NYC for school so they went their separate ways. Now she's back to "hide" from her penn name going public and hte first person she literally rns into is Josh. His welcome wasn't warm and she figured she'd made a terrible mistake. When his mom begins to meddle, will they be able to rekindle their old romance or has 5 years really been too long? This was a good story about second chances,
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Mallory leaves the small town of Magnolia Bay for the big city, New York, to follow her dream of becoming an author. Not only does she leave her hometown but the love of her life, Josh, as well. Now five years later she is back. Her career did not take off as she had hoped until she became the erotica writer Farrah Ivory. Poor Josh is taking the brunt of the jokes, people think he is the inspiration for the hero in her books. Can they overcome her leaving and her books to get the happily ever after they both want? An easy, quick read.
Mallory and Josh were perfect together, until she decided to pursue her dream of being a writer and moved from Magnolia Bay to go to NYU for school. But several years later, she goes back to try to escape the media frenzy surrounding the release of the name she published under. Her anonymity in the publishing world is gone and she just wants to hide out. But her past and her books follow her back to Magnolia Bay. I really liked Mallory and Josh, and I love second chance love stories. This was a great one too.
This was a very well written book, the story flowed nicely. I loved the chemistry between the two characters and I just loved the story as a whole. Can they regain what they had before or will it be lost forever, definitely read this ti find out.
I was given a copy by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great reunion story that really left me with a smile! The chemistry between Mallory and Josh is evident from the very beginning and how they handled the past hurts was heartwarming. I really enjoyed all the ribbing Josh took about Mallory's books. The way the town finally came around and accepted her and her work was great.
Magnolia Bay is the setting for this appealing novella about a love that never truly ended even though divergent paths were taken and lives lived apart for five years. Facing each other again after all that time leave Mallory and Josh wondering, "What if..." and, "Can we..." Very well written with just enough angst to satisfy the reader.
I loved this book! Boy and girl in love, girl leaves. Girl comes back years later. Boy and girl still in love and find each other again. The trip back to Magnolia bay was well worth it and all the characters pull you into the story, as if you are a part of it. Mallory and John are a great couple you can't help but root for.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Erika did another stellar story! I didn't put it down from the start. Josh and Mallory are young and part ways as neither wants to give any and each wants to follow their dreams, except their dreams can't happen at the same place. A little wiser and a whole lot more mature their lives cross and the sparks still fly.
A very enjoyable small town romance about a couple who fell in love in high school, but life made them drift apart. Could they have their second chance? Wonderful characters, very fun read. Full review on http://www.tbqsbookpalace.com June 11th.
