COMPLETELY CAPTIVATING, IRRESISTIBLY COMPELLING, SERIOUSLY SEXY AND DELICIOUSLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Wow! Like really, really wow! Elianne Adams has outdone herself yet again with Lost In Magic, the latest release in her extraordinary series, Return To Avalore. Lost In Magic is a stand alone full length novel with NO cliffhanger and has its very own happily ever after ending. That being said, in order to completely enjoy this story, I would highly recommend reading the entire series which would only serve to enrich your reading experience. I have been following this remarkable series since Book One, Call of Dragon and can't seem to get enough of this fantastically magical realm created by Adams. The story is exciting, original, well developed, well executed, thrilling, action packed, riveting, heartbreaking, heartwarming, sweet, sensual, arousing and romantic. These are only a few of the words that come to mind after reading this book. The dialogue is smart, exceptionally well written and flows beautifully. And finally the characters, they are quite simply the heart and soul of the story. They are fascinating, captivating, enchanting, engaging, unique and oh so sexy. They capture your heart, grab your attention, come to life and literally explode from the pages. Adams expertly combines these elements into a brilliantly entertaining paranormal saga filled to the brim with adventure, suspense, magic, fantasy, supernatural creatures and deliciously sweet romance.
The premise of the story:
Avalore is part of a magical parallel realm that co-exists alongside our present day human world accessible only by a special portal. This world is inhabited by a menagerie of supernatural and mystical creatures. The residents of Avalore are primarily dragon, phoenix and gryphon shifters who, for some unknown reason, have lost their ability to shift into their animal forms almost two hundred years ago. After their monarch, Queen Angelique was murdered, her infant daughter, Princess and future queen Rhiannon Mayfield, was sent to live secretly in the human realm to ensure her safety. As time passed without the presence of the light from their queen, the kingdom succumbed to an evil darkness that took the lives of many of the residents. The woman who was appointed as caretaker and protector for the princess died without telling young Rhiannon of her birthright and Rhia was left alone and adrift in the human world never knowing her heritage. In Book One, Call of the Dragon, after years of fruitless searching, Rhiannon is finally found and returned to Avalore to assume her role as the new queen. Her return has restored light to the dying kingdom but the people are still unable to shift to their animal form.
The plot of this story:
Aiken Mayfield, brother of the queen, is a phoenix shifter and healer to his people. He is determined to find the cause of his people's inability to shift and by doing so, hopefully discover a cure. He enlists the aid of Mari Winston, a young, beautiful but very shy resident of Avalore who is also a phoenix and a healer. Aiken and Mari met years ago when he stumbled upon her gardens deep in the forest while looking for herbs and wildflowers to make a remedy for an ailment plaguing their people. Aiken and Mari care deeply for each other but have never acted upon their feelings. They both secretly believe they are each other's destined mates but have never spoken of their suspicions. In Avalore, it is a woman's choice to mate and must present her request to their council of elders who will then call upon the goddess to reveal the identity of her true mate. It is only then that a female is allowed to marry and take the mate that is revealed by the goddess. Oh my! Although Mari has always believed her true mate is Aiken, she is reluctant to take that step since it would break her heart if the elders announced it to be someone other than him. Aiken and Mari embark on a quest to the long deserted city of Bronom to hopefully find clues to unlock the mystery and aid them in finding a cure. During their search, Aiken is caught in a magical trap and in order to save Aiken and help him escape, she must reveal her own magical ability of being a natural caster, a secret she has never made known. In her act of rescuing Aiken, Mari unleashes magic beyond her untrained capabilities and has now placed her own life in jeopardy. Aiken and Mari must now journey beyond the borders of Avalore to find a lost settlement of mages who hold the answers to restoring Mari's full health. Aiken is determined to do whatever it takes to save his beloved Mari but in order to save her, he may have to lose her to the claim of another man, jaguar shifter Rogan, who also claims to be her true mate. Huh? Two mates? What the heck? And that's all I going to give you! No spoilers from me but I will say this....... Handsome, possessive phoenix shifter-check! Hunky, sexy jaguar shifter-check! Beautiful virgin phoenix/gryphon shifter-check! Danger, adventure, drama, action, suspense, kidnapping, magic, supernatural creatures, shifters and a very evil, insane mage-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, heartbreak, agonizing angst, sweet romance, fateful love and a steamy dreamy menage a trois-you betcha! That and a whole lot more!
My final verdict:
Absolutely brilliant! It's a shame the rating only goes as high as 5 stars because this book deserves 10! Completely captivating, irresistibly compelling, seriously sexy and deliciously entertaining!

Omg! What an absolute spectacular book! Have your tissues ready. I laughed, I cried. I LOVE all of Elianne Adams books but this one is my favorite so far! I can't wait to see what she conjures up next for this series! If you've not started this series yet then I highly suggest you to do so. I can't recommend this author and series enough! Ten star book!

I'm leaving this review of my own free will. In no way have I been bribed, coerced or paid for this review.

Good gone wrong

I've really enjoyed this series until this book. I knew by reading some reviews, that some were turned off by the sexual situation in this book. I don't think it really added anything to the story. It seemed more for shock value perhaps than anything else. Everything about this book just felt disjointed from the others in the series. Had to really push myself to finish this one.

Awesome Series

This one was alittle different then the other three. Each book was great and filled with excitement and adventure. This one was about Mari and Aiken and lets throw in Rogan. What a treat each characters were. Also got to see what was happening in the other character that came before. Super read.

This was very fascinating and quick-moving in places, then a slow down to catch your breath. It has deep secrets, as well as new life bursting forth.

Elianne Adams does it again!! As always with her books, once I started reading this story I couldn’t put my Kindle down. I mean – even my kids were getting on my nerves with the interruptions! Don’t they understand mommy is reading important stuff! Sheesh – anyway, back to the book. First let me say, that in general I hate love triangle books. They give me anxiety, I get overly attached to all the characters, jealousy stresses me out and someone is always getting hurt or let down. I hate them, mostly because of how I don’t like to deal with stressful situations – and I try to avoid books with these scenarios because of that internal flaw.

Now, that said - of course Elianne would be the author who makes all of this ok for me. I’m not kidding, for a good chunk of this book I was having intense stress and heart burn, I didn’t know if I could handle the drama! However, because I know my author never lets me down I continued on. Thank goodness I did. Elianne made this story so amazingly beautiful and worth the stress and heartache. The characters are so real, so honest and intense. I loved them all – not all the time – but by the end they all had a place in my heart. There was one scene, toward the end of the book where I just started crying. The ugly cries too. If you’ve read the book, you’ll probably know what I’m referencing. It just touched all my feels, I couldn’t take it! Gosh I love this series, I love this author, and I will read everything she writes. I love these stories and characters – I highly recommend these books!

Although this is book four of a series, this is the first book I've read by this author. I don't feel I missed more than the backgrounds of other characters, as the author did a great job of parsing out just enough information to inform me without giving away the plots of the other books. I found the plot in this book to be somewhat transparent, so it didn't have any level of suspense or surprise twists in the story to keep me wondering what would happen next, but the protagonists were interesting and kept me involved. A good read, with lots going on to keep the reader glued to the pages.

Wow. Just wow.

Shifters are having problems shifting. The Queen has sent envoys to see if they can determine the cause. Mari, a natural caster, and Aiken go off on a perilous journey. Mari get caught up in dark magic and looses her spirit animal. Everything spirals into chaos. A jaguar-shifter Rogan claims Mari is his mate. Who will Mari choose and who will be chosen for her? This is a heart-wrenching story that leaves you craving so much more. A definite hit and a one-click!

Menage with a purpose, other than sexual gratification. Yes, it is all tied up with dark mages, tripping spells, double shifter beasts andpredestined mates. It is one h3ll of a good story., so rather than ruin it for you, I can only encourage you to read it for yourself.

It kept me engaged and wanting to read more. The characters and world are well built and its easy to see the bond between each one. Even the secondary characters within the story are likable and interesting. Overall, I really enjoyed this even though it's the first book I've read in the series.
