My first thoughts on this one? What a phenomenally unique and completely captivating collection of tales. I couldn’t put it down for a second. The authors employ vividly exotic descriptions and locales that catch you right from the get go. This stories become so real that it is scary. You can actually picture the events occurring and you find yourself picturing what would happen if you were in the characters’ shoes. The events in question may be out of our realm, but the way that they are written makes everything so real and thrilling that you forget that it is a fantasy. I have great respect for authors who do their research before writing fictional work based on fact or existing mythology. That said, I love the fact that many of these stories were mythologically accurate, with some big twists.
The characters in this novel are quite well developed. You may not know their entire life histories, but you do get to know everything that is pertinent to the story and to let you get to know the characters. It was very refreshing to read a story by an author who can differentiate between necessary development to create a well-developed character, and giving an entire life history that slows down the storyline because it isn't actually relevant to the plot. I quite appreciated the vast array of characters that I encountered throughout this tale. They cover many age ranges and walks of life, making the story even more interesting. They had personalities that you could relate to. Many of these characters are made even more memorable with their one of a kind names. So many of them are unique or at least uncommon, but none are difficult to remember.
Each of these authors brought a brand new world to life and kept me captivated throughout. As a whole I was completely entranced by the story. It was exciting, adventurous, and a brilliant way to get to know this authors. I would definitely recommend all of these novels to others and can’t wait to read more by these brilliant authors.
7 versatile books entirely different from each other coming in a single pack. each author has a different style of presentation and hence makes it a super deal. I enjoyed all the 7 books thoroughly.
I've sacrificed myself for you people. Be glad. Also do not waste your time on this. It's the cliché-est, boringest thing in the world. I'm 99% sure Satan worked on this project too.
The concept was a good idea but stayed just that as the plot holes and boring characters unfolded. The Faeries don't seem to act as such in little annoying ways, the writing was flat and uninteresting and the characters don't even feel human by the end due to their skewed logic compass.
Read the blurb and get yourself Nine Princes in Amber for its utterly perfect concepts and payoffs.
NOPE NEVER DO NOT READ THIS. It's one of the clichést story I've ever read, with absolutely NOTHING new and whatever originality it has is overtaken by it's sheer stupidity and ridiculousness. The writing feels like something out of a 15 yrs old Live Journal user without the insanity. The characters can barely be called that, resembling more cardboard cutouts the author is waving around like soulless corpses.
I can't recommend Angelfall enough instead. Great characters, awesome romance and impeccable pacing.
Garbage. Utter garbage. Greek mythology on the level of The Lightning Thief is desecrated and sewn back together with staples in this shitfest of a story. The main character sees her parents die before her eyes in one of the most traumatic ways possible yet the death of a horse she knew for half a page has more effect on her. Both Thanatos and Hypnos (especially Hypnos) feel like pedophiles lusting after a grieving 15 yr old.
The blurb and title are a goddamned lie, for one. The main character has no agency whatsoever in this book plus being some sort of YA heroine stereotype Frankenstein monster, making her extremely hard to relate to or even understand. The way the world is constructed makes it feel sketchy and unrealistic in all ways, from the ruling family to the Companion Guild. The only good things happen way too far in and the journey there isn't worth it.
I recommend Kushiel's Dart for its much better world building with guilds and houses and plots and/or Ruined if you want a more YA story about girls and royal lines.
Don't get fooled by the cool-sounding title, this is just as bad as the others, if not worse. The plot progression is nothing new and even goes out of its way to be predictable bullshit. The characters don't make any sense and when they do they never stick to it. The main character's backstory doesn't make any goddamned sense and is just sad-fuel for angsty teenagers.
Undertow is an incredibly great book about a underwater people and the impact they would have on the world if revealed.
This was nonsense. The world felt reduced to this one tiny town due to all the incredibly impossible coincidences that kept happening. The characters were barely introduced before I was thrown into a intense relationship that made very little sense. The story was laughably bad and the writing was worst than the stuff I wrote at 12.
Paranormalcy was a fun journey of powers and love with actual characters and Steelheart is a good super-powers series.
Boring copypasted papier maché. The characters act nothing like people with actual lives and a fear of death or a sense of love and fidelity. The romance borders on love potion with the speed at which the guy falls for the heroine. The writing was nothing note worthy and the plot was so badly paced I didn't even care if any of these idiots died or not.
Cracked has an amazing and rare badass heroine with superpowers.
FEYLAND: THE DARK REALM - Anthea Sharp - 3 Stars When lines are blurred between reality and gaming, Tam Linn discovers that a game can turn into a different realm making him the hero of the show. As his world is turned upside down (for the better) Tam is tasked with helping the rich-girl Jennet pushing their limited in the Dark Realm of the Fairyland.
The world building the author is able to create was fun and inventive with the characters flowing in and adding to the concept. I thought the rich girl, poor boy kind of thing was a little overdone with the characters styles but overall I found them to be well developed.
