I don't see any good reason this little handbook for natural healing should be considered for emergencies only, lots of good info for daily use. So, when the sh*t hits the fan grab this little guy. Bugging out or hunkering down in catastrophic times will require something like this so this one is a keeper, one for the shelves and ready to get tossed into the bug out bag.

I'm marking this book as "read" even though I have not read every word. Close to it.

This is a handbook. It has indexes where you can look up particular plants, or you can search by symptom. I originally bought it for help with a novel I was writing, where I needed to know what plants my herbal woman would use for a particular malady. It turns out, nature supplied us with plenty of plants that are antiseptic, antibiotic, antihistamine, you name it. But their effects tend to be milder than the ones you get with OTC and prescription medicine.

One other thing you will learn from this is that, if you want to use foraging to treat your own and your families' maladies, you should start now. It is not usually possible to just go outside, pick something, and consume it to cure yourself. There is a steep learning curve where you need to be aware of what the plants do, what they look like (and how to tell them apart from their look-alikes), when to harvest them, and how to store and prepare them. Some plants you need to dry and powder. Others, you can soak in oil or in alcohol to get the full benefit. Some plants, the roots, stems, and leaves can all be used; for others, one part of the plant might be helpful, others harmful. Then, you need to label and store them so you avoid using substances that are either less strong or too strong from long sitting.

This is a good book to have on hand in hard copy in case the grid goes down. After getting the gist of it, I lent it to a friend who is interested in foraging.

I won this awhile back from Goodreads Giveaways and accidentally lost it for awhile on loan to a friend. I really enjoyed this book and I'm so glad it found its way back to me, especially in this day and age where we can use all the prepping and natural remedies we can get. Thanks again!

Great information

The book is easy to follow, has minimal fluff, and is organized well. I recommend this for anyone with a prepper mindset.
