Jena Grant and her younger brother Randy, shocked and grief stricken by the murder of their older brother, Jared, stand numbly by his grave. "There are no clues," the sheriff said before taking his place with the other mourners. In the ten years since the Grant family's move to Texas, they have had to face the accidental death of their parents, a baby sister, and now Jared. At eighteen, Jena is overwhelmed by the responsibility thrust upon her for the welfare and safety of Randy and their ranch. Seven days after Jared's funeral the powerful and menacing Walker clan ride in making demands. Everett Walker wants their land, claims Jena, a mere girl, could never run a ranch. When she refuses his offer, Everett suggests that she should marry one of his sons. When Everett's suggestion turns into an ultimatum, Jena balks. Carl Walker taunts her with whispered threats against Randy unless she agrees.
"Married 51 years, Mother of 5, Grandmother of 8 & Great Grandmother of 2 sweet girls. Our oldest daughter died in 1995 from complications of Diabetes and RA. I have lived with RA for 40 + years, it gave me steel hips, plastic knees and fingers that curl into fists. All of this has added directly and positivly to my life and served to create my writing voice. Using the middle knuckle of my left hand and the eraser end of a pencil in my right hand I have conquered my computer keyboard. Several years back I enrolled in an online cumputer class to learn about designing websites. What Fun! To bad I have forgotten most of it.
February of 2008 I was hospitalized with influenza A & pneumonia. I came close to meeting Jesus. GOD and hospital Angels pulled me through.
March of 2008 my Husband and I celebrated late our 50th anniversary. Married on Valentines day 1958, we spent the 50th with the flu.
End of June & first days of July, I spent 20 days in the hospital, unable to walk. You would not believe how badly a plastic knee can hurt.
April of 2009 I signed a contract with a literary agent and am preparing book 4 - "White Nigger" to present to publishers. My husband and I are working with members of the Nebraska Edsel club to help put on the 41st IEC National Rally in Omaha.
I am still reading, writing reviews and working on my 5th novel
Intriguing Authors and Their Books invited me to become a reviwer for their site, since I love to read almost as much as I love to write, I am captivated by the Idea." -Beverly J Scott (http://www.authorsden.com/visit/autho...)
