#HitZero is book 1 in a new series that mixes cheer and anime. This book, The New Kid, opens up to Kenji moving to a new town with his family. It also follows CiCi and her family who are big into cheer. The storyline, hit. I was engaged from beginning to end. I laughed out loud several times and felt like I was right in their world. The characters, hit. Both the main characters were written so well and their banter was sooo good! I loved that we got a peek into both of their family dynamics. And the friendships took me straight back to high school and brought me a sense of nostalgia. All the characters are downright lovable. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book and can’t wait to continue the series. This is the first book I have read from my dear friend, Terina Curtis, and it definitely won’t be my last. Kudos to bringing your vision to the world! 💛🖤💛

It’s a an easy read with an interesting storyline. There’s not many ya books about cheerleading. Can’t wait to read more!
